So I’ve decided to start using this blog to speak on some more personal shit and use it as an avenue to vent. I deal with a lot of things doing this music shit, and I am a very outspoken person (to a fault). So I’ll be using this blog to speak on topics and give views on shit that wouldn’t be appropriate to represent on the
Raindrophustla for the simple fact that more likely than not, a idiot would hold a colleague culpable for my opinion when they shouldn’t be.
I’m lucky enough to work with people that understand my outspoken nature and know my intentions behind it. I don’t get to spit my words in song and deliver them to you through that medium, so I get stuck with the dinky blog.
I’m not gonna try to "air" people out on here, I’ll avoid using names when it’s unnecessary, or unless that party reveals their identity willingly, which then we can "e-beef" or whatever.
Anyways, I’ve been feeling extremely jaded towards local hip-hop lately. Not so much for a lack of quality, or anything to do with a particular taste or preference in style. I’m more-so disappointed with the lack of a thick skin amongst a majority of the community. On the
206Proof, there is a constant trend of Bitchass-ness that’s infecting the scene like The Rage Virus.
It seems like nowadays rappers and their crews don’t want to hear real shit, they just want to hear shit that’s sucking their ego off. It’s bullshit. It’s offensive for a rapper to get mad at a negative comment posted about them on the internet. I always hear that "you wouldn’t say it on my block!" as a rebuttal. But it’s not even about that. It’s about someone’s opinion on art you put out their for feedback. If you release material to the public, you have to accept the hate with the praise. Jesus had haters, so it doesn’t matter what your intentions are. SOMEBODY is not going to like your shit. But nowadays, these rappers have way too much time on their hands and take shit to heart way too much.
One rapper I supposedly dissed back in the day (which history would actually prove I actually put them on to Seattle by giving them shine with regular plugs on the Raindrop) took time out of his schedule to drive all the way down to TWO separate shows on separate nights, and proceeded to ask everyone upon leaving "yo, you post on the proof? you talk shit about me on there?" Who the fuck does that? Even if I did diss the nigga, so fucking what? Why do you care? If you feel like your doing yours, getting your bread, handling your business, my negative opinion about you shouldn’t matter. More recently another rap entity didn’t appreciate a frank and honest statement along the lines of my previous comments. Their significant other actually took the time to drive out to a show I did and asked me to shut my yapper. I honestly hope they had business nearby to attend to, cause they gas prices are too serious for a 90 second conversation as I’m leaving a venue.
That is why I’m convinced 9 out 10 rappers and their kin are NOT built for this game. You can’t respond to every hater, nor should you devote energy into rebutting hate. instead, respect your fans enough to devote the energy to appeasing them, and giving them what they want. Who gives a fuck if I like your music or not? Your fans deserve a little more respect than that.
Anyways, it’s late, I spent all night in the studio, and I’m tired.
D.Black’s album "Life and Legacy" is 95% done, and we got a couple mixtapes coming soon with ALL NEW EXCLUSIVE material. So keep an eye out for it.
