Well  . . .it seems our sense of the ironic and the absurd sometimes can misfire . . tired of every question being about  ( dear man that he is ) NG for a recent interview for the INDEPENDENT we replied rather ironically  " we reluctantly turned to Noel and asked him if he could fill in. He jumped at the chance and actually he's not bad on vocals, so we've kept him for special occasions like this; but we do miss him as a roadie because he was the best we've ever had." ....

you see where we were going with that one ???? well anyway here's the Independent piece  and is it conceivable that they actually took that bit seriously. . . . ....surely not . .did they ??? ha ha . . .psychedelic !!

Why cover Falling Down? ........

 

We didn't intend to cover it . .it was a psychedelic sequence of events !  Noel is a big fan of our Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind DJ mix album concept which came out late last year and he asked US to remix Falling Down and make it ' WORTHY ' to be on that album !!. We went to town on it and delivered a 22 minute epic mix . adding flutes, sitar, orchestration, all sorts of sonic trickery - the full Amorphous Androgynous psychedelic palette ! ALISHA SUFIT ( ex vocalist of  70s psych folk band MAGIC CARPET and part of the Amorphous Androgynous supergroup ) revocals the song midway into the remix and thus it developed into a kind of cover version with Noel on backing vocals!! We started playing that version live at Amorphous Androgynous concerts developing it even further and completing its genesis from a remix into a bona fide fully fledged cover version.........

 

How did you contact Oasis? ........

I don’t need to contact anyone . .nothing so mundane !! Courtesy of both Noel and I being born in the greatest year in rock n roll history ( 1967 ) we share the psychedelic revolutionary magnetism and I bumped into him one day at a crossroads in the musical universe simply staring out into the cosmos wondering about the possibilities of the song  . .our search had brought  both of us to exactly the same point on the musical landscape from different directions !!........

What was Noel¹s reaction been to your version? 

 

He was justifiably blown away by it !!. We knew what we were doing !! Most remixes simply stick a dance beat under the song showing an understanding of rhythm BUT NOT a love  or understanding of the song ITSELF  whereas for us we have been trying to explore an alternative psychedelic vision of the SONG and the lyric for the last decade which means we turn up the saturation BOTH lyrically AND sonically . . thus we record many new  instruments and also interpret the lyrics with sound using our production skills as the Future Sound Of London. In the end I think we did it as a sort of gift to illustrate to him how  his songs could be coloured with a different sensibility. There was no need to be humble cos Noel is one person we genuinely felt  we could help  with the sound and ethos we have been developing and whos songs actually lend themselves to that treatment..It seemed like a marriage of opportunities in so many ways. As Noel succinctly puts it ' you're F***** great I'm F***** great why wouldn't it work ! “........

How did his guest appearance come about? ........

 

We were talking ( at one stage ) with Noel about various members of  the Amorphous Androgynous joining Oasis onstage at Wembley to perform part of the Falling Down remix but cos of its epic nature one way and another it never happened but developed instead into a kind of running gag between us about him improvising in front of 70,000 people which must be Noel's worst nightmare or something!!   ! We have all sorts of grandiose plans for the MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE concept one of which has been to develop it  into an event and so we curated 12 hours of the concept at the Green Man Festival last weekend (( AUG 23rd ) with HAWKWIND and many other bands( including AA ) performing. With Vol 2- Pagan Love Vibrations of the MPB album imminently released  a grande technicoloured happening in London seemed the order of the day and cos the album also includes part of the FALLING DOWN remix it seemed obvious to play it at the event and Noel kept hinting he wanted to be involved  ha ha !!.Ok hands up ..  we asked him !! 

Whose idea was it for Noel to perform at Matter ??

Well Noel decided he needed to get a bit more earthy again after the rock n roll excess and high life of the last few decades and I think secretly he is nostalgic for those early days when he was a roadie for the Inspiral Carpets. Thus for the last month ( a little known fact this !! ) he has become the AA undercover roadie in between Oasis’ sold out stadium shows all over the world. Anyway one day Alisha Sufit ( who sings Falling Down in the AA concerts ) lost her voice just before a gig and we reluctantly turned to Noel and asked him if he could fill in. He jumped at the chance and actually he's not bad on vocals so we’ve kept him for special occasions like this but we do miss him as a roadie  cos he was the best roadie we've ever had !! I haven’t spoken to him about his plans after this and whether he wants to resume his roadie duties OR NOT ! I guess we’ll see how it goes !!!........

What's  his reaction to the request?........

Oh delighted I think . . . he got a pay rise and could certainly benefit from the publicity !!  I just hope he doesn't get too big for his boots and get delusions of a solo album !! Seriously, though, Noel has been wonderfully supportive of  every aspect of the Monstrous concept, it’s a shared view we seem to have of the history of  the last 40 odd years of cosmic space music and offers some genuinely expansive pathways OUTTA here at a time when so many things are contracting !!........

Secondly the Green Man Festival have given us the expansive chance to curate a WHOLE humungus 7 hrs of a MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE themeacular in the main tent on Sunday Aug 23rd from 7pm-2 am . . multifarious .Dj'ing and bands to be announced on a MONSTROUS theme hence forthwith. . oh and of course the Amorphous ones will be playing in there somewhere . .we'll keep you informed when we've figured it all out !!


And Gaz Cobain will be on the Rob Da BANK show on RADIO 1, March 23rd 2-4 am with his own unique slant on the A-Z of Psychedelia . . MONSTROUS psych vibes in other words !!

Well for those that are bored with us banging on about Oasis, things just got definitely maybe decidedly worse . . . Noel Gallagher rang in to the Automobile Association headquarters personally today and what a thoroughly nice chap HE IS TOO!!! He wants us to remix the next Oasis single ' Falling Down ' from " Dig Your Own Soul" giving us carte-blanche to do what the f*** we want" . . . . just make it worthy " we repeat "WORTHY" !!!! to fit into "A MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE EXPLODING IN YOUR MIND " was his mandate. What a wonderfully humble thing to say . . . .

For those that DON"T KNOW the above mentioned MONSTROUS BUBBLY THINGY he's alluding to, it's our 44 track DJ mix compendium of brain frying food that we compiled and mixed and which was released in Dec just gone and which has been getting some heat among the icicles. It seems from the conversation that one of his party has visited fsoldigital. com and downloaded ALL 8 of the radio MONSTROUS BUBBLES from 1997-2006 and they've all been rightfully freaking out at the mash-up that constitutes the psychedelic manifesto of the AA . . . .

It's a compilation mixed by a guy called Amorphous Androgynous [this is a pseudonym for veteran trance duo Future Sound of London] and it's on Platypus Records and it's fucking mind-blowing. That would be my album of the year or any other year. It's a double CD of the most obscure psychedelic tracks I've ever heard in my entire life and I've got a lot of psychedelic music.




This in addition to also mentioning his love for the album while summing up the highlights of the whole OASIS USA TOUR in his blog for the official Oasis site oasisinet.com . . . he rounds up a great summary of the lively goings-ON over the last couple of months by saying . . .

Seen a great Beatles tribute band. Got shit-faced with Ricky in 2 different countries. Watched Tall Scratch set a new world record for speed dj'ing. Hung out with a Sex Pistol and an ex-Smith. Met up with old Russ' in Vegas. Seen De La Hoya get his face smashed in. Got more shit-faced with Ricky. Witnessed an actual miracle in the Playboy Bunny Club. Gasped at the glory of the mountains out in the big country. Froze at least one of my bollocks off in the arctic wastelands in the middle of nowhere. Met up with our old hippy brothers, The Black Crowes. Dj'd at a couple of radio stations. Seen Neil Young and we smashed it at the Garden.
Purchased:
1 Organ.
2 amps.
6 fx pedals.
2 pairs of trainers.
1 pair of jeans.
2 scarfs.
1 leather jacket.
Bought a book on The Who and read a book by that Jack Kerouac. Listened to a lot of cosmic space music from the cosmic juke-box. And fell in love with one truly great, great album (seriously - buy that 'Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble' record. NOW! Do it NOW!)

'Watched a couple of great documentaries about a couple of unsavoury American characters of the late 60s, early 70s. 1st one was about Jim Jones and the People's Temple (Google him, I can't be arsed explaining who he was).

We already knew( see blog below this ! ) that Noel had bought TEN copies of the MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE EXPLODING IN YOUR MIND album to give as Xmas presents SO this begs the question . . .who is Noel actually gonna give the ten copies to for Xmas ?? We certainly hope that his mate Russell Brand gets a copy . . .he will dig it for sure especially when he reads the liner notes and discovers the theme of superconsciousness which underpins our re-appraisal of the psychedelic domain. It'll be fairly ironic if this happens since way back in May in the initial press release for Monstrous entitled "ONE DAY ALL DJ'ing WON'T BE LIKE THIS !! "we quoted 'OUR IDEAL DJ occasion as being " Russell Brand's Meditation retreat AND the party afterwards." We hear Russell's into his veganism and yoga TOO so with a friend like that ' spouting hippy rhetoric about revolution, free love' ( Noel's words ) and with MONSTROUS coursing through his veins this last month compiled by us on frighteningly similar themes to Russell's we are expecting NOEL to expansively TURN ON effecting some great liberating sonic delights of his own in the near-future . . .maybe since Noel is attracted so strongly both to Russell and to our own Monstrous he's actually more of a revolutionary cosmic voyager than he's letting on . . . maybe it'll all come out in his solo album colour wash. . . viva la revolution !!!
