Netherbird is currently working on the EP that will be released during the summer 2009. It is entitled “Monument Black Colossal” and it will be released for free download as high quality mp3 and as a limited edition 12 inch picture vinyl.

Most of the recordings take place in Scarecrow Studios in Stockholm and during the last few days Bizmark and Nord have been recording guitars and here are some photos and a short video recording.

This song is a cover tune that we recorded in early 2007 during the time we made the Blood Orchid EP. I picked the tune as a homage to the Swedish band Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio to whom I owe a lot of inspiration despite the fact that they are far from a metal act.

The song is originally entitled “Conquest, Love & Self Perseverance / The Gospel of Aptitude" but we chose to call our cover "Love under Will". The title was of course a less wise choice since that title is already used by the Fields Of the Nephilim for another song.

Now you know the band and the original title of the track and in keeping with the original tune our version is also a male/female duet and I was joined by Metallic Kitty from Decadence. Perhaps the first male/female growl duet ever? This tune has been hard to find in decent quality but that is about to change.

Salutations!
As some might have noted we are currently doing what we can in order to make people go creative and using our music for their videos/films/showcases! The one with the most views on youtube by May 31th will receive a shirt from our merchandise. But the most important part is not how many view things but the fact that you do something you like yourself, because Netherbird is really about you. We are all part of the flock making Netherbird a black beast of gloom, each and everyone, four of us play the instruments but in truth it would be without meaning without ears to hear it and minds that care for it. Today it is Tuesday 31th of March and that marks the end of our first video competition (see this blog entry for more info).

The winner for most views is the video for “The Beauty of Bones” and the one with highest rating is the video for “Boulevard Black”. The winners have been received mail so they can choose their merchandise.

Greetings!

Now and then we get messages from friends here on myspace asking us for tabs for our tunes. We don't write tabs for our songs ourselves so we haven't been able to offer any yet, so it is great to see that someone has created tabs for the tune “The Blackest Breed”.

Someone has put a lot of effort into creating these tabs so if you want to play a Netherbird tune, now you got an excellent chance. I have not had the time to go through them in detail but at a first glimpse it seems accurate and it includes guitar (lead + rhythm), drums, violin and piano tracks.

We off course encourage anybody interested to make tabs for our tunes and post them, we will proudly make sure people find them.

hope you are doing well! I have been invited by Kelli Wright to write a column for the new metal community Metal as Fuck (www.metalasfuck.net) and I of course accepted this invitation right away! I think this is a damn interesting community and the people involved know their metal and they are kick ass people. My role is to write a little about the Scandinavian metal scene. It will be in the form of personal thoughts and reflections. Metal as Fuck is just getting started but there is already a lot of stuff to read so go there and join right away!

Greetings all,
we are sad to inform you that the
tagging-competition that we announced a couple of days ago didn't
really go according to plan. What Myspace Sweden didn't know, and
neither did we of course, was that bands with more than 10.000
friends cannot have photos tagged to them. You can place the actual
tag but we, the band, don't get the “confirm tag” button. This
took a while for the staff at Myspace Sweden to figure out. But once
they did they were extremely kind and rewarded us with expo on their
starting page for a week (that is actually the most important aspect
of the price for the competition so it was a very generous
compensation). So in truth you guys made us win the “contest” by
just being there. It was evident that our fans indeed tagged photos,
the down side is that we cannot make them seen in our gallery
automatically.

So we will amend that best we can! If
you want your photos/art that you tagged to us to be showcased, just

Myspace Sweden is running a competition for a month and the band that is winning it will get some extra expo. Since Netherbird is really much a part of Myspace and we think this is a great way to communicate with you and other listeners we would be glad for some extra expo. So that is why we ask for your help!
