broken Iris Halo Machinima Contest
Brought to you by none other than HaloGrid.com
Official contest sub-site:bi.halogrid.com
What's broken Iris?
broken Iris is an ambient rock band whos' members are pretty much all Halo fans. Songwriter Tony Verdi actually wrote the song "The Scar" (available for use in this contest) to depict the Halo universe. They even wanted to try to get into the Halo 3 soundtrack, but missed the deadline by a matter of hours. Tony contacted me through MySpace to introduce himself and broken Iris in the hopes to promote their album in the Halo community. After listening to their album "The eyes of tomorrow", I was not only surprised that a band this good personally contacted me... but were also Halo fans. I made it a goal to be a part of this band's growth in the Halo community. Having a following of fans who respect my work, I felt it only right to share this amazing band with the community they have already been a part of for years now without anyone knowing. I worked directly with broken Iris to devise a contest with mass-exposure to the band, and where fans (old and new to come) get to be a part of the band's growth.
So what's this contest all about?
Much to my amazement, broken Iris agreed to do anything for this contest as long as it involved Halo and the band itself. The first thing that came to mind for me was of course a Halo Machinima contest. Together we agreed that autographed merchandise and a mini-tournament against the band would be perfect for some prizes. During the weeks of planning, myself and various members of broken Iris have played countless games of matchmaking (and kicked ass) only further proving their love for the game. I knew that it was rare for a band this great to work on a personal level with community members of a game they love... It was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up.
Through this contest, we hope that the Halo Machinima community can be a part of this band's growth as well as our own when broken Iris fans see the videos that make it through this contest. These guys are awesome, I've been working with them on a personal level (via phone calls and Xbox Live) and I want to help them get the exposure they deserve.
After all, I pride HaloGrid as a place to go to get deserved exposure in the Halo community.
Ok ok, please give me the short version.
The band broken Iris contacted me just wanting to show the Halo community their work and love for the game. I worked directly with them to make a contest which will help them grow, help HaloGrid grow, and show the Halo community this awesome band who share a common interest with us all.

I created a very short, very draft promo video using stock Halo 3 campaign footage (that I filmed myself) set to the song "The Scar" just to spark some ideas for you guys. You can watch at the bottom of this post. Hope it's helpful.
