¿Te acuerdas de aquel disco titulado “ABBA canta en español”, en el
que el aclamado cuarteto sueco revisaba algunos de sus éxitos con las
letras traducidas al español? Bueno, pues STEREO TOTAL han sublimado
esa idea. Lo que podría haber sido un disco de los temas más laureados
del dúo basado en Berlín, revisitados en nuestro idioma (más de una vez
han demostrado su pasión por cantar en diversas lenguas, como francés,
alemán, inglés, italiano, turco o japonés), ha acabado incluyendo
además una pequeña pero increíble colección de versiones (otra de sus
pasiones, y sí, también en castellano), la mayoría de ellas,
seleccionadas exquisitamente del cancionero pop español de las últimas
décadas. Y es que después de más de 15 años dejándonos adictivas piezas
del mejor Electro-pop (con toques Punk, Disco, New wave y Garage), Françoise Cactus y Brezel Göring
no podían abordar de manera diferente una furtiva y ágil mirada atrás:
desprejuiciadamente, con una actitud traviesa y sobre todo enormemente
divertida y disfrutable. Así, reciben la revisión canciones como el “No
controles” de OLÉ OLÉ (compuesto por Nacho Cano para
lo que fue el primer single del grupo en 1983) que además da título al
disco, “Voy a ser mamá” de ALMODOVAR y McNAMARA, “C’est fini” de LA
CASA AZUL a lo punk, o la oculta, disponible en la versión CD del
disco, ¡“Un rayo de sol” de LE MANS!.
Resulta sorprendente poder escuchar estas canciones rezumadas por el
filtro STEREO TOTAL y cantadas en nuestro idioma con ese acento francés
tan sonoro. Y además, la ocasión de volver a disfrutar de canciones de
todas las etapas del grupo, incluyendo dos temas de THE LOLITAS (“El
chico de anoche” y “Tocame”), el grupo con el que Françoise
se dió a conocer a mediados de los 80, y que editó cuatro discos en
Francia y Alemania. “Wir tanzen im 4-Eck” es ahora “Bailamos en
cuadrado”, “Everybody in the discotheque (I hate)” queda rebautizada
como “Todo el mundo en la discoteca”, “Plus minus null” es “Más menos
cero” o su increíble “L’amour à 3” es “Amo amor a tres”. Es decir,
estamos acudiendo a una reinvención, a un efímero renacimiento: idioma
diferente, canciones diferentes en la forma (muchas de ellas mutan de
forma curiosa)... Todo ello efectuado con esa actitud rebelde e
inconformista, acentuada por un toque rock’n roll sorprendente (que ya
tuvo mucho protagonismo en su último disco de estudio, “Paris-Berlin”,
el disco más representado en esta recopilación) y con la garantía de
uno de los mejores creadores de hits que hay en la actualidad. Como si
mirar atrás fuese solo una ilusión, un planteamiento realizado para
vivir el presente con mayor intensidad.
Un banquete pantagruélico, un menú irrepetible, con los sofisticados
aromas franceses, la contundencia de las materias primas alemanas, y
ese punto soleado y salado de la dieta mediterránea, todo bien
cargadito de picante, tabasco y cayena. Una orgía musical, bárbara,
canalla, en la que el sexo vuelve a jugar un importante papel, donde
KRAFTWERK practican un libidinoso juego con las musas galas, y los
RAMONES declaran una guerra de almohadones con los UNDERTONES, mientras
URSULA 1000 pincha canciones en una bacanal estelar. Como no podía ser
de otra manera, STEREO TOTAL vuelven a sorprendernos irremediablemente,
haciendo su propio camino, saltándose todas las normas conocidas y por
conocer, destrozando el concepto del recopilatorio, adaptándolo a lo
que ellos quieren, a lo que se les antoja, regalándonos tanto hedonismo
y ganas de disfrutar. Y os puedo asegurar, que al acabar “No
controles”, todo esto se contagia. Vaya si se contagia.

Do you remember that album called “ABBA Canta en Español”, on which
the acclaimed Swedish quartet revised some of their greatest hits with
lyrics translated into Spanish? Well, STEREO TOTAL have refined this
idea. What could have been an album of the Berlin-based duo's most
prized songs revisited in Spanish (this isn't the first time they have
shown their passion for singing in various languages, like French,
German, English, Italian, Turkish or Japanese), has ended up also
including a small yet incredible collection of versions (another of
their passions, and yes, also in Spanish), the majority of which are
exquisitely selected from the Spanish pop songbook of the last decades.
And after more than 15 years giving us addictive pieces of the best
Electro-pop (with touches of Punk, Disco, New wave and Garage), Françoise Cactus and Brezel Göring
couldn't approach this furtive and agile look back differently:
unprejudiced, with a mischievous attitude and above all enormously fun
and enjoyable. This is how we should take the revision of songs like
“No Controles” from OLE OLE (written by Nacho Cano
for what was the group's best single in 1983) that was also the title
track of the album, “Voy a Ser Mamá” by ALMODOVAR y McNAMARA
(electro-punk band of film director Pedro Almodovar
at the beginning of the 80’s), “C'est Fini” by LA CASA AZUL made punk,
or the hidden track, available on the CD version of the album, “Un Rayo
de Sol” by LE MANS!.
It is surprising to be able to listen to these songs oozing through
the STEREO TOTAL filter and sung in Spanish with that familiar French
accent. And what's more, we have the occasion to enjoy songs from all
of the stages of the group again, including two songs from THE LOLITAS
(“El Chico de Anoche” y “Tocame”), the group that Françoise made her
name with in the middle of the 80s, and who released four albums in
France and Germany. “Wir Tanzen Im 4-Eck” is now “Bailamos en
Cuadrado”, “Everybody in The Discotheque (I Hate)” is rebaptized as
“Todo El Mundo en La Discoteca”, “Plus Minus Null” is “Más Menos Cero”
and their incredible “L'amour à 3” is “Amo Amor a Tres”. What this
means is, we are witnessing a reinvention, an ephemeral rebirth; a
different language, songs in different forms (many of them mutate most
curiously)… All of this is effected with that rebellious and
non-conformist attitude, accentuated by a surprising touch of rock'n
roll (which already had a starring role on their last studio album,
“Paris-Berlin”, the most represented album on this complication) and
with the guarantee of one of the best contemporary hit-makers. As if
looking back were just an illusion, a way of thinking in order to live
the present more intensely.
An abundant banquet, an unrepeatable menu, with sophisticated French
aromas, the strength of German raw materials, and that sunny seasoning
of the Mediterranean diet, all loaded with spice, Tabasco and cayenne.
A musical orgy, barbaric, ruffian, in which sex plays an important role
again, where KRAFTWERK practice a libidinous game with the Welsh
masses, and the RAMONES declare a pillow fight with the UNDERTONES,
while URSULA 1000 plays songs in a stellar bacchanal. And since it
couldn't be any other way, STEREO TOTAL return to compel and surprise
us, making their own path, ignoring all the known and unknown rules,
destroying the concept of the compilation, adapting it to what they
want, to what appeals to them, giving us the gift of so much hedonism
and lust for life. And I can assure you that when you finish “No
Controles”, it becomes contagious. Go see if you catch it.

Ha
pasado de ser una de las grandes promesas del pop español a ser una de
las realidades más alucinantes que le ha pasado al panorama nacional en
años. “Romancero” ha sido aclamado en todos los medios, consiguiendo
portadas en diferentes publicaciones (EP3, Mondo Sonoro, Plástica o El
Obrero Digital), alabanzas y elogios varios, destacado como uno de los
mejores discos del año. Ana Fernández-Villaverde se
ha recorrido ya medio territorio español y otros tantos festivales
(Primavera Sound, FIB, Contempopranea, South Pop Isla Cristina, etc.)
Desde Elefant damos continuidad a este increíble fenómeno con la
edición de un single tomando como referencia “9.6”, una de las
canciones que más ha dado que hablar por ese sorpresón disco-pop que
nos regala la canción después de esos 45 segundos de introducción
acústica, significando una de las composiciones que más ha mutado desde
su concepción original a su resultado final en el disco (este CD
incluye la versión demo grabada en casa de Ana hace
ya, más de dos años). Por eso, las dos remezclas incluidas en esta
nueva referencia celebran semejante evolución: la remezcla de Guille Milkyway
despide una dulzura Motown para acabar en un juego rítmico alucinante
con una concepción musical nueva y diferente y unos arreglos
impresionantes, mientras que la de HIDROGENESSE mira la pista con mucho
más descaro y atrevimiento y juega con la letra de forma divertida.
Por
último, esta completa edición contiene el Video-clip hecho a propósito
para esta canción, dirigido por Luis Cerveró (uno de los realizadores
más importantes e innovadores, responsable de Video-clips de LOS
PLANETAS, Christina Rosenvinge, LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID o Joe Crepusculo) Cerveró aprovecha el tono de la canción para darle un aire de clara nostalgia e ironía ochentera al video, Ana esta impresionante y David Rodríguez y Joe Crepúsculo
lucen junto a ella como autenticas estrellas del italo-disco, simulando
una actuación de plato televisivo, al estilo de las que tanto se
estilaban en los 80. El remate es la coreografía homenaje al Ballet
Zoom y a Valerio Lazarav, fallecido recientemente. No cabe duda de que éste año es “el año” de LA BIEN QUERIDA y el 2010 promete aun mucho más!!!
ENGLISH LA BIEN QUERIDA has gone from being one of Spanish pop’s biggest
promises to being one of the most amazing realities that has hit the
national panorama in years. “Romancero” has been acclaimed in all the
press, earning covers of various publications (EP3, Mondo Sonoro,
Plástica and El Obrero Digital), various praise and elegies, selected
as one of the best albums of the year. Ana Fernández-Villaverde
has already made her way across half of Spain as well as to a few other
festivals (Primavera Sound, FIB (Benicassim), Contempopranea, South Pop Isla
Cristina, etc.). Here at Elefant we are continuing on with this
incredible phenomenon with the release of a single called “9.6”, one of
the most talked about songs because of the surprising disco-pop that

celebrate this marked evolution: the remix by Guille Milkyway

takes the track much more boldly and brazenly and plays a fun game with
the lyrics. Finally, the release contains the video-clip made
specifically for the song, directed by Luis Cerveró (one of the most important and innovative directors, responsible for video-clips for LOS PLANETAS, Christina Rosenvinge, LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID and Joe Crepusculo). Cerveró takes full advantage of the song’s tone to give the video an air of clear eighties nostalgia and irony; Ana is incredible; David Rodríguez and Joe Crepúsculo
shine with her like authentic italo-disco stars, simulating a live
television performance, in the style of how it was done in the 80s. The
final touch is the choreography that pays homage to Ballet Zoon and Valerio Lazarav,

Adelanto del nuevo disco de Trembling Blue Stars en Dandelionradio.com
Hace ya casi dos años que no teníamos ninguna noticia en forma de nuevas canciones por parte de Bobby Wratten y los suyos, pero, celebrémoslo, a lo largo del mes de octubre, el DJ Mark Whitby
estará pinchando las demos acústicas de tres nuevos temas que serán
incluidos en el próximo disco de los ingleses. Unas composiciones que
revelan la parte más emocionante, frágil y delicada de la banda que
hizo de la melancolía un arte: “Frosting” parece una oda a la lluvia,
con una nota dedicada a cada gota en su viaje del cielo a la tierra;
“Tropic of Capricorn” ofrece una faceta más pop de la banda, con sus
acordes inconfundibles y sus armonías celestiales, mientras que en “The
Imperfection of Memory” nos encontramos en la voz a Beth, en el tema
más precioso y naïf de los que nos han adelantado hasta el momento, y
otra nueva melodía inolvidable.
Estas canciones se emitirán en la primera parte del programa de Mark, dentro de la radio de emisión exclusiva por Internet Dandelion Radio, un medio inspirado en la figura de John Peel,
con la independencia y la originalidad como motivaciones principales.

It has been almost two years since we have had any news about new songs from Bobby Wratten and his crew, but now it’s time to celebrate because, throughout the month of October, the DJ Mark Whitby
will be playing the acoustic demos of the three new songs that will be
included on the Brits’ new album. They are compositions that reveal the
most emotional, fragile and delicate part of the band that made
melancholy an art: “Frosting” is like an ode to rain, with a note
dedicated to each raindrop’s journey from the sky to the ground;
“Tropic of Capricorn” shows the most pop facet of the band, with their
unmistakable chords and celestial harmonies, while on “The Imperfection
of Memory” we find ourselves in Beth’s voice, on the most precious and
naïve song of the ones that they’ve advanced so far, with another
unforgettable melody.
These songs will be played in the first part of Mark’s program, within the radio’s exclusive Internet broadcast Dandelion Radio, a media inspired in the figure of John Peel,
with independence and originality as the primary motivation. In the

Nick Garrie abrirá para CAMERA OBSCURA en el Shepherd’s Bush Empire de Londres
Parece que va llegando el momento del reconocimiento para Nick Garrie.
Autor de uno de los vinilos malditos más deseados por los
coleccionistas, “The Nightmare of J.B. Stanislas” (disco que, por
cierto, Elefant reeditará próximamente en un formato muy especial:
doble CD + libro con su biografía escrita por él mismo), ha conseguido
que el lanzamiento de su álbum para nuestra compañía, “49 Arlington
Gardens”, que registró junto a artistas como Duglas T Stewart (BMX BANDITS), Norman Blake (TEENAGE FANCLUB) o Ally Kerr,
le esté devolviendo todos los elogios que merecía por su obra anterior.
Y es que “49 Arlington Gardens” está recibiendo una acogida increíble
por parte del público y los medios, gracias a una elegante y
emocionante concepción del pop y el folk, hasta el punto de que Nick Garrie
ha sido elegido como la estrella invitada que abrirá el concierto de
nuestros queridos CAMERA OBSCURA en el mítico Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
La banda de Tracyanne Campbell estará el tres de
noviembre en la sala londinense interpretando las canciones de su
magnífico nuevo álbum “My Maudlin Career” en una fecha muy especial en
la que compartiran escenario con Nick Garrie (que abrira la velada a las 19:30 horas) y el grupo de Manchester MAGIC ARM.

Nick Garrie to open for Camera Obscura at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London
It seems like the time is coming for Nick Garrie’s
recognition. The author of one collectors’ most desired cursed vinyls,
“The Nightmare of J.B. Stanislas” (an album that, by the way, Elefant
will be re-releasing soon in a special format: double CD with an
autobiographical book), has managed to regain all of the elegies that
his previous disc deserved with the release of his new album, “49
Arlington Gardens”, which is being released by our company and which
was recorded with artists like Duglas T Stewart (BMX BANDITS), Norman Blake (TEENAGE FANCLUB) and Ally Kerr.
And the thing is, is that “49 Arlington Gardens” is being so incredibly
received by the public and by the critics, thanks to an elegant and
exciting conceptualization of pop and folk, to the point that Nick Garrie
has been chosen to be the special guest star to open for the concert of
our beloved CAMERA OBSCURA in the legendary Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Tracyanne Campbell’s
band will be there on November 3rd in the London space playing songs
from their magnificent new album, “My Maudlin Career”, and on this very
special date they will be sharing the stage with Nick Garrie (who will open the show at 7:30 pm) and with the Manchester group MAGIC ARM.

Hace unos días os avisábamos de que LA CASA AZUL habían sido nominados
para los prestigiosos premios UK Festival Awards dentro de la categoría
del premio especial entregado al mejor concierto. Como reza el propio
título del premio, el “Virtual Festivals Critics' Choice Award está
diseñado para reconocer a aquellos cuya actuación añadió algo extra a
su show del festival. Puede ser comedia, nostalgia, interacción con el
público o simplemente ese “ingrediente secreto” – básicamente algo que
los separa del resto de artistas como auténticos complacedores de
multitudes”. Pues si aquello ya era notición, debemos anunciaros que la
banda de Guille Milkyway
ha pasado a la votación final, en la que se enfrentará con otras 11
bandas más, grupos como PET SHOP BOYS, THOM YORKE, BON IVER o THE
SPECIALS competiran con LA CASA AZUL por el preciado galardón. Nuestro
adorado Guille sigue cosechando éxitos inauditos más allá de nuestras
fronteras, y es que el hecho de que una banda de pop español haya
llegado hasta éste punto en unos premios británicos es sin duda una
noticia inaudita en el panorama nacional. Para llegar aquí, el autor de
“La revolución sexual” ha tenido que dejar atrás a grupos como MERCURY
REV, Andrew Bird, THE DIRTY THREE, FRIENDLY FIRES, LILY ALLEN, MGMT, NOVELLE VAGUE, Patrick Wolf, o PJ Harvey,
de una lista inmensa sólo han pasado a la final 12 grupos, y entre
ellos, merecidísimamente tras su increíble actuación en el Festival
Indietracks, LA CASA AZUL. Una vez más necesitamos el apoyo de los fans
de LA CASA AZUL para que voten para que su grupo pueda oír su nombre en
la ceremonia final que tendrá lugar el 19 de noviembre en el O2 Dome de
Londres.

A few days ago we told you that LA CASA AZUL had been nominated for
the prestigious UK Festival Awards in the special prize category for
the best concert. As the award title itself proclaims, the Virtual
Festivals Critics’ Choice Award is designed to recognize those whose
performance adds something extra to their show in the festival. It can
be comedy, nostalgia, interaction with the audience, or simply that
“secret ingredient”, basically something that sets them apart from the
rest of the artists as true entertainers of the masses. So, as if that
weren’t big enough news, we are announcing now that Guille Milkeyway’s
band has made it to the final round, where they are up against 11 other
bands like PET SHOP BOYS, THOM YORKE, BON IVER and THE SPECIALS, who
are all competing against LA CASA AZUL for the honorable award. Our
adored Guille is still making unbelievable hits outside of our borders,
and the fact that a Spanish pop band has reached this point in British
awards is undoubtedly unimaginable news in the national panorama. To
get here, the author of “La Revolución Sexual” has had to advance past
groups like MERCURY REV, Andrew Bird, THE DIRTY THREE, FRIENDLY FIRES, LILY ALLEN, MGMT, NOVELLE VAGUE, Patrick Wolf, and PJ Harvey.

JET SET presentan por fin su nuevo álbum, “Guitarras y tambores”, en
Barcelona, su ciudad natal. Desde la publicación de su segundo álbum el
pasado mes de febrero, sus Guitarras y tambores no han parado ni un
solo momento. Participaron en la fiesta del 30 aniversario de Flor de
pasión (RNE-Radio 3), fueron invitados especiales de COOPER en la
presentación de su nuevo álbum “Aeropuerto” en Madrid y Bilbao,
actuaron en alguno de los festivales más importantes de nuestro país
(Indyspensable, Contempopranea, Fuengirola Pop Weekend...), viajaron
hasta Inglaterra para actuar en Londres y en el festival Indietracks y
ahora aterrizan por fin en casa para presentar las canciones de su
último disco entre amigos y fans. Será éste mismo sábado en la Sala 2
de la mítica Sala Apolo de Barcelona, en la que por cierto se ha
grabado su impresionante nuevo Video-clip “En esta pista ya no se puede
bailar”. Marc y Joel (The Hands
Collective) han dirigido de manera extraordinaria el nuevo Video-clip
del grupo, donde todos lucen como auténticas estrellas del pop más
colorido, tocando, cantando y bailando con un montón de amigos. Puedes

El próximo mes de noviembre y con motivo del reciente estreno de su
nuevo Video-clip, COLA JET SET publicarán un single limitado, en vinilo
de color que contará con “En esta pista ya no se puede bailar” en la
cara A y que incluirá en su cara B dos nuevas canciones; “Nos
volveremos a ver”, una acertada adaptación al castellano del clásico de
1939 “We’ll meet again”, escrita por Ross Parker y Hughie Charles
que se convirtió durante la segunda guerra mundial en una de las
canciones más populares. La han interpretado a lo largo de los años
diferentes artistas, desde Vera Lynn, que consiguió
con ella un gran éxito en 1954, hasta THE BIRDS, que la incluyeron como
último corte en su álbum de debut, “Mr tambourine man”, de 1965, pero
también THE TURTLES, THE CHORDETTES, Sandy Coast o el mismísimo Johnny Cash,
ahora es el turno de COLA JET SET, una pequeña joya para la cara B de
este nuevo single en vinilo que también incluye una nueva composición
de Alicia, “100% Cola Jet Set”, toda una declaración de principios.

Tambores”, in Barcelona, their native city. Since the release of their
second album last February, their Guitarras y tambores (guitars and
tambor drums) haven’t stopped for a single second. They participated in
the 30th anniversary party for the radio show Flor de Pasión (RNE –
Radio 3); they were COOPER’s special guests for the presentation of
COOPER’s new album, “Aeuropuerto”, in Madrid and Bilbao; they performed
at some of the most important festivals in Spain (Indyspensable,
Contempopranea, Fuengirola Pop Weekend...); they traveled to England to
perform in London and at the Indietracks Festival and now they are
finally back home to present the songs from their latest album to their
friends and fans. It will be this very Saturday in the Sala 2 of
Barcelona’s legendary Sala Apolo, where they also recorded their
incredible new video, “En Esta Pista Ya No Se Puede Bailar”. Marc and Joel
(The Hands Collective) did an extraordinary job directing the group’s

This coming month of November, thanks to their recently premiered
video, COLA JET SET will release a limited edition single, a color
vinyl with the A side “En Esta Pista Ya No Se Puede Bailar” and two new
songs on the B side; “Nos Volveremos a Ver”, is a spot-on Spanish
adaptation of the 1939 classic written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles,
“We’ll Meet Again”, which became one of the most popular songs during
the second world war. The song has seen many versions throughout the
years by many different artists, from Vera Lynn, who had a huge hit
with it in 1954, to THE BYRDS, who included it as the final track on
their 1965 debut album, “Mr. Tambourine Man”. But that’s not all – THE
TURTLES, THE CHORDETTES, Sandy Coast and even Johnny Cash
himself did versions of the song, and now it’s COLA JET SET’s turn, a
small gem for the B side of this new vinyl single that will also
include a new song by Alicia, “100% Cola Jet Set”, a declaration of
intent.

Publicamos la banda sonora de la película "Yo, también"

La película “Yo, También”, triunfa en el festival de cine de San
Sebastián: La película ha recibido dos Conchas de Plata, la de mejor
actor para Pablo Pineda y la de Mejor actriz para Lola Dueñas.
La pasión que en Elefant sentimos por la música es algo lógico y
evidente, pero además, desde el principio hemos estado involucrados y
hemos colaborado en proyectos artísticos que van mas allá de la música
y que precisan de ella para completar y redondear la obra y hacerla de
esta manera mas personal.
Nuestra pasión por el cine nos llevo a crear hace años, “Elefant Music
Supervision”, un proyecto que ha ido tomando forma con el tiempo con el
único objetivo de auxiliar y colaborar en proyectos audiovisuales de
todo tipo y hacer una supervisión musical que ayudase a los creadores a
encontrar la música perfecta para su trabajo. Cortometrajes,
documentales, películas, spots publicitarios, sintonías de
televisión... nos hemos visto involucrados, a veces de una forma más
directa, otras de una manera más indirecta, en un montón de proyectos
audiovisuales nacionales e internacionales que han utilizado música de
nuestra compañía o proyectos para los que hemos creado a través de
nuestros artistas piezas exclusivas. Series de Televisión
internacionales como “Anatomía de grey”, “Mujeres desesperadas”, “The
O.C.”, “Summerland”, “Las chicas Gilmore”, “Entre fantasmas”,
“Degrassi”, “Chop shop”, “Exes & Ohs”, “One Tree Hill” o la
inminente nueva serie de HBO “Bored to death” utilizan música de
Elefant Records en sus bandas sonoras; Pero también series españolas
como “Gominolas”, “Doctor Mateo” o “Cuestión de sexo”, películas
independientes de todo el mundo, cortometrajes, anuncios de
televisión... la lista es interminable.
Uno de los proyectos en los que hemos estado muy involucrados este ultimo año es el debut largo de Álvaro Pastor y Antonio Naharro, protagonizado por Lola Dueñas y Pablo Pineda. Lola Dueñas, actriz de reconocido prestigio, ganadora del Goya por su interpretación en la película “Mar Adentro” de Alejandro Amenábar y nominada por “Volver” de Pedro Almodóvar, interpreta a Laura, la compañera de oficina de la que el protagonista se enamora. Pablo Pineda, el auténtico personaje real, interpreta a su alter ego en la ficción, Daniel Sanz,
siendo este su primer papel dentro de un proyecto de ficción, aunque no
es un principiante en lo que se refiere a contacto con los medios de
comunicación, puesto que ha intervenido en numerosos espacios
televisivos.
Desde que leímos los primeros borradores del guión de “Yo, también”,
en el cálido verano de 2008, nos enamoramos irremediablemente y de
manera inmediata de un proyecto y de una historia que se presentaba
como única y especial, real como la vida misma donde el amor, la
tristeza, la soledad y la frustración se entremezclaban en una trama en
la que también hay espacio para la reivindicación y el cambio de las
normas y la forma de pensar de una sociedad acomodada y poco realista
con las verdaderas necesidades y carencias que sufren las personas con
síndrome de Down.
Nuestra entrega, a nivel musical, en el proyecto, ha sido profunda y
emocionante, poco a poco todo iba tomando forma y la selección musical
ha resultado al final muy variada y enriquecedora. Guille Milkyway (LA
CASA AZUL) fue el encargado de crear pequeñas pinceladas musicales
especiales para la película. Una banda sonora atípica con piezas
sencillas y desnudas, basadas en melodías de piano llenas de emoción,
que a la vez potencian la felicidad más grande o se hunden en la
tristeza y la frustración mas profunda. Guille es
también el responsable del tema principal de la película, una rumba de
corte setentero, “Yo también”, a camino entre las primeras grabaciones
de LAS GRECAS o LOS AMAYA, pero con ese toque mágico que impregnan las
composiciones del gran maestro y que dan como resultado un autentico
hit de los pies a la cabeza que se meterá en la cabeza de todos y será
tarareada y bailada hasta la saciedad. Todas estas nuevas composiciones
de Guille dan muestra de la gran variedad de estilos
que pueblan el interior de su cabeza y que no hay nada que se le
resista a uno de los mejores compositores musicales del momento.
Hay mucha música en la película, tanta como personajes y
situaciones. Momentos tranquilos, dulces, cotidianos, románticos,
tristes, emocionantes, divertidos, locos, de fiesta, de descontrol
total... la música es igual y en su conjunto crea una banda sonora
perfecta para entender la película. La rumba de Guille
y las canciones de LAS GRECAS o MANZANITA dan ese punto español a la
película, que transcurre mayoritariamente en Sevilla, pero también
están las canciones delicadas de los galeses THE SCHOOL, el magnetismo
de CAMERA OBSCURA, el romanticismo italiano de GIORGIO TUMA o FITNESS
FOREVER, la delicadeza de BMX BANDITS, el folk-pop atemporal de Nick
Garrie y RÓZSÄK o la fuerza y ritmo de LA CASA AZUL, SOUVENIR, BEEF,
RIOT IN BELGIUM y THE GENTLE PEOPLE entre otros.
Elefant Records publicará la banda sonora de la película el próximo
12 de octubre y será un perfecto souvenir para todos aquellos que, como
nosotros, caigan rendidos ante esta gran película que se estrenó a lo
grande en el festival de Cine de Sebastián el 23 de septiembre,
recibiendo dos Conchas de Plata, la de mejor actor para Pablo Pineda y la de Mejor actriz para Lola Dueñas.
La película llega a las salas comerciales de cine de toda España el 16 de octubre.
El próximo gran proyecto de “Elefant Música Supervision” será la
dirección artística musical de “Jelly Jamm”, una serie de animación en
tono de comedia musical de la que te hablaremos próximamente y en la
que también estará involucrado en la composición musical Guille Milkyway.
SINOPSIS
Daniel, un joven sevillano de 34 años, es el primer
europeo con síndrome de Down que ha obtenido un título universitario.
Comienza su vida laboral en la administración pública donde conoce a Laura,
una compañera de trabajo. Ambos inician una relación de amistad que
pronto llama la atención de su entorno laboral y familiar. Esta
relación se convierte en un problema para Laura cuando Daniel
se enamora de ella. Sin embargo esta mujer solitaria que rechaza las
normas encontrará en él la amistad y el amor que nunca recibió a lo
largo de su vida.

The passion we feel for music at Elefant is something logical and
evident, but from the start we have also been involved in and
collaborated on artistic projects that go beyond the musical realm but
that also need music to complete and fill out the work and make it more
personal.
A few years ago, our passion for the movies brought about the creation
of “Elefant Music Supervision”, a project that has taken shape over
time, with the goal of helping and collaborating on audiovisual
projects of all kinds, offering musical supervision that would help the
creators find the perfect music for their work. Shorts, documentaries,
movies, commercial spots, television theme songs… we have found
ourselves involved, sometimes directly, other times more indirectly, in
a ton of national and international audiovisual projects that have used
music from our company or projects that we have created with our
artists' exclusive pieces. International television series like “Grey's
Anatomy”, “Desperate Housewives”, “The O.C.”, “Summerland”, “Gilmore
Girls”, “Ghost Whisperer”, “Degrassi”, “Chop shop”, “Exes & Ohs”,
“One Tree Hill” or the imminent new HBO series “Bored to Death” all use
music from Elefant Records on their soundtracks. And so do Spanish
series like “Gominolas”, “Doctor Mateo” and “Cuestión de sexo”,
independent movies from all over the world, shorts, television
commercials… the list just goes on and on.
One of the projects we have been very involved in this past year is the feature-length debut of Álvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro, starring Lola Dueñas and Pablo Pineda.
Lola Dueñas received a Goya for her role in the film
“The Sea Inside”, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, and was nominated for
another for her role in “Volver” (Return), directed by Pedro Almodóvar. She plays the role of Laura, Daniel’s co-worker with whom he falls in love. Pablo Pineda is the real thing and plays his fictional alter ego, Daniel Sanz.
Although this is his first time on the big screen, he’s quite used to
working with the media and has participated in numerous TV shows.
From the moment we read the first draft of “Yo, También”, during the
hot summer of 2008, we fell immediately and irrevocably in love with
the project and the story; it was so unique and special, as real as
life itself where love, sadness, loneliness and frustration intermingle
in a plot that also has space for vindication and for changing the
rules and ways of thinking of a middle-class society that is
unrealistic about the true needs and necessities of people with Down's
Syndrome.
Our dedication to the project, on the musical level, has been
profound and exciting; little by little everything took shape and the
music selection turned out to be really varied and enriching. Guille Milkyway
(LA CASA AZUL) was in charge of creating small musical brushstrokes
specially made for the movie. The soundtrack is atypical, with simple,
bare pieces, based on emotionally charged piano melodies that can just
as easily express the greatest happiness as they can sink into the
deepest sorrow and frustration. Guille was also in
charge of the movie's theme song, a 70s style rumba, “Yo, También”,
somewhere along the lines of the first recordings by LAS GRECAS or LOS
AMAYA, but with that magical touch that our great master's compositions
are full of, and which make it a total hit from head to toe that will
stay in everyone's head and be hummed and sung until we've had enough.
All of these new compositions by Guille are proof of
the great variety of styles that live inside his head, and that nothing
is impossible for one of the best musical composers of the moment.
There is a lot of music in the movie, as much music as there are
characters and situations. Quiet moments, sweet, quotidian, romantic,
sad, exciting, fun, crazy, partying, totally out of control… there is
music to fit every moment and all together it makes a perfect
soundtrack for understanding the movie. Guille's
rumba and the songs of LAS GRECAS and MANZANITA give that Spanish touch
to the movie, which takes place mostly in Sevilla, but the soundtrack
also has the delicate songs of Wales' THE SCHOOL, the magnetism of
CAMERA OBSCURA, the Italian romanticism of GIORGIO TUMA and FITNESS

SOUVENIR, BEEF, RIOT IN BELGIUM and THE GENTLE PEOPLE, among others.
Elefant Records will release the movie soundtrack this coming
October 12th and it will be the perfect souvenir for everyone who, like
us, falls for this great movie that has its impressive first showing in
the San Sebastian film festival on September 23rd, and will be released
commercially in movie theaters all over Spain starting October 16th.
The next big project of “Elefant Música Supervision” will be
artistic musical direction for “Jelly Jamm”, an animated musical comedy
series that we will be telling you about soon, and that Guille Milkyway
will be working on as well as a composer.
SYNOPSIS
Thirty-four-year-old Daniel is the
first European with Down syndrome to have graduated from university. He
starts a social services job in Seville, where he meets free-spirited
co-worker Laura. They become fast friends, drawing
the attention of both their co-workers and families. Their unique
relationship becomes problematic when Daniel falls in
love with her. But these rebellious souls refuse to bend to the rules
and they find friendship and love as they have never known.

Sí, JUNIPER MOON fueron unos de los más hábiles compositores de
píldoras punk-pop que ha habido nunca en territorio español, y así lo
corroboró su repercusión internacional: las laudatorias críticas del
New Musical Express, Steve Lamacq,
el reputado locutor de la BBC, radiando “¿Volverás?” como un loco, “El
resto de mí vida” seleccionado entre los 100 mejores discos del año
para la tienda Rough Trade, la canción titular que se coló en aquel
mítico recopilatorio llamado “Rough Trade shops: Indiepop 1”, junto a
bandas como THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, BELLE AND
SEBASTIAN, FELT, THE MAGNETIC FIELDS, TALULAH GOSH, VASELINES, SHOP
ASSISTANTS, CAMERA OBSCURA o THE FIELD MICE, aquel single de vinilo
limitado junto a PRIMAL SCREAM, ABERFELDY y JOSEF K... Pero el caso es
que ya hace más de 4 años que no existen JUNIPER MOON (aunque, todo hay
que decirlo, su fuego todavía no se ha apagado, como demuestra ese
recopilatorio que se publicará estas próximas navidades en Japón, un
recopilatorio de todos sus singles, maquetas, temas inéditos y varias
canciones en directo).
De las cenizas de aquel grupo irrepetible nacieron hace cuatro años LINDA GUILALA. Iván y Eva
se lanzaron a la composición de temas con la inmediatez como modus
operandi, igualmente adictivos, manteniendo esa frescura máxima en las
melodías, con lo mejor de la tradición pop de bandas de la nueva ola
española como ALASKA Y LOS PEGAMOIDES o LOS ZOMBIES, con la insolente
energía de HELEN LOVE, y esa pasión por las texturas densas pero
cautivadoras de grupos como THE CHARLOTTES, LUSH o PALE SAINTS.
Tras tres años creando expectativas, sonando en las emisoras
independientes de medio mundo, participando en recopilatorios de
diferentes compañías independientes de países tan dispares como México,
Usa, Singapur, Italia, Argentina o Perú, siendo nombrados en múltiples
medios y destacados como segunda mejor maqueta del año 2006 para los
oyentes de “Disco Grande” (RNE-Radio 3), por fin, en Elefant, tenemos
la suerte de tener en nuestras manos su disco de debut “Bucles
infinitos”, un álbum redondo, una demostración de una manera de
entender el pop que pocos han sublimado hasta éste nivel, sabiendo
equilibrar la energía juvenil, la pasión twee con querencias por el pop
más clásico, el tecno-pop más luminoso con ese toque punk irremediable,
y sobre todo el brillo brumoso de las atmósferas shoegazers, dando
lugar a un auténtico tratado para los amantes del género melódico por
antonomasia.
Sí, lo hemos dicho, nos acordamos de LOS PEGAMOIDES, y a su vez de
los primeros discos de LUSH, de MY BLOODY VALENTINE, de RIDE, de
aquellas bandas que tanto nos hicieron vibrar a principios de los
noventa, pero la energía con la que LINDA GUILALA aborda éste “Bucles
infinitos”, esas guitarras distorsionadas hasta las cejas que aparecen
y desaparecen, los coros de Eva, las capas y capas de
órganos y teclados, el pop más efervescente y urgente, que hacen de
éste disco todo un fenómeno en el momento actual.
“Te he cambiado”, “Nadie se dará cuenta” (que abre el disco de
manera extraordinaria y es la canción elegida para su primer
video-clip) “Nada nos va a importar”, “Ilusión” o “Bucles infinitos”
son auténticos hits ultra-pegajosos. “Sexta dimensión” o la escurridiza
“Guerrillera Jardinera” representan los momentos más calmados del
disco, pero con una furia melódica y unos estribillos magnéticos
bañados de ruido. “Protagonista central” o “Saber perder” son un
pildorazo pop con ese toque de tabasco (punk), los bajos de
“Torremolinos” comienzan guiándonos por los senderos shoegaze para
acabar en un gesto disco sorprendente y un estribillo tremendo. Porque
esa es una de las grandes sorpresas que esconde éste disco: suena a
muchas cosas y a ninguna a la vez, y en éste caso es más cierto que
nunca, las canciones de LINDA GUILALA tocan muchos palos, saben jugar
al pop y a la melancolía, a la velocidad y el ensimismamiento, a las
texturas y a las melodías, y al final simplemente te dejan con la
sensación de haber escuchado un puñado de composiciones pop
tremendamente adictivas que nunca antes habías echado a tus oídos. Haz

Yeah, JUNIPER MOON were among the most capable composers of the
punk-pop pills that have ever existed in Spanish lands, and their
international effect corroborates this: critically acclaimed on New
Musical Express; Steve Lamacq, the reputed BBC radio
host, playing “¿Volverás?” like a mad man; “El Resto de Mí Vida”
selected as one of the 100 best albums of the year by the Rough Trade
store; the title track that made its way onto that legendary
compilation called “Rough Trade shops: Indiepop 1” with other bands

has to be said, their flame still burns in our hearts, proof being the
compilation that will be released in Japan this Christmas, a collection
of all their singles, demos, previously unreleased tracks and various
live versions).
From the ashes of that unforgettable group rose LINDA GUILALA, four years ago. Iván and Eva
threw themselves into the composition of songs whose modus operandi is
their immediacy. The songs are just as addictive, maintaining that
incredible freshness in the melodies, with the best of the pop
tradition of bands from the Spanish new wave like ALASKA Y LOS
PEGAMOIDES and LOS ZOMBIES, with the insolent energy of HELEN LOVE, and
that passion for dense, captivating textures of groups like THE
CHARLOTTES, LUSH or PALE SAINTS.
After three years of raising our expectations, being played on
independent radio stations half the world over, participating on
compilations from independent labels from countries as disparate as
Mexico, USA, Singapore, Italy, Argentina and Peru, being named in
various media sources and highlighted as the second best demo of 2006
by “Disco Grande” (RNE-Radio 3) listeners, and finally, at Elefant, we
are lucky enough to have their debut album, “Bucles Infinitos” in our
hands. It is a perfect album - a demonstration of a way of
understanding pop that few have managed to express at such a level.
They know how to balance youthful energy, twee passion tending toward
the most classic pop, the lightest techno-pop with that unavoidable
touch of punk, and above all that hazy shine of the shoegaze
atmosphere, which all together give way to an authentic treatise for
lovers of the melodic genre above all else.
Yes, we've said it, we're reminded of LOS PEGAMOIDES, as well as the
first albums by LUSH, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, RIDE, by those groups that
made us vibrate so much as the beginning of the nineties, but the
energy that LINDA GUILALA puts into this “Bucles Infinitos”, those
guitars with appearing and disappearing distortion effects as far as
they can push them, Eva's choruses, the layers and
layers of organs and keyboards, the most effervescent and urgent pop
all make this disc a musical phenomenon in the here and now.
“Te He Cambiado”, “Nadie Se Dará Cuenta” (which opens the album in
the most extraordinary way, and is the song they've chosen for their
first video), “Nada Nos Va A Importar”, “Ilusión” and “Bucles
Infinitos” are authentic, ultra-catchy hits. “Sexta Dimensión” and the
slippery “Guerrillera Jardinera” represent the calmest moments of the
album, but with a melodic fury and some magnetic choruses bathed in
noise. “Protagonista Central” and “Saber Perder” are a pop piece with
that touch of tabasco (punk), the bass on “Torremolinos” begins by
leading us down shoegaze paths only to end up with a surprising gesture
and a tremendous chorus. Because this is one of the greatest surprises
that the disc hides: it sounds like many things and yet like nothing
else at the same time, and in this case it is clearer than ever, the
songs of LINDA GUILALA do so many things at once, they know how to play
with pop and melancholy, with speed and introversion, with textures and
melodies, and in the end they simply leave you with the feeling of
having listened to a handful of tremendously addictive pop compositions
like your ears had never heard before. Try it.
