What a great summer! It's wrapping up although technically fall doesn't start for awhile, correct?
In June I went to Muncie for 5 days. It was my ten year class reunion from high school...wow, time flies. Honestly I still feel like a little kid half the time like I am "playing adult." It was good to reconnect with old classmates and look at pictures of when I had blonde hair and wore long skirts to school (everyone who knows me now, are you in shock?). Just so we're clear, it was our dress code. Also got two wisdom teeth yanked out in Indiana and learned it is ALWAYS going to be cheaper to fly home to get my teeth worked on than to do it here. What cost me $823 in Feb would have been $205 in Muncie. Ouch. That combined with airfare is still half price. Sigh.
Saw Nada Surf in Indiana and Ours back in LA. Also some of my local boys of course. Met Cooper. :)
July was busy busy busy. Saw Live at The Greek, Coldplay at the Forum, Feist at Hollywood Bowl, Carolina Liar at the Troubadour, The Ruse at the Viper Room, and scb at hotel cafe. Also made a trip to Dallas, TX mid-month for a 4 day girls weekend with my best friends from college. So fun!
August was "the underwear affair" to benefit City of Hope's fight against cancers below the waist and we had a blast as Team Autobutts dressed up as transformers. The race itself was a great mix of people and was so much fun to participate in. Also saw Radiohead at the Hollywood Bowl which was incredible. Just wrapped up the month with a lovely love-filled getaway weekend.
Great summer.

In every headline we are reminded That this is not home for us Where is it? Where is home? Muncie used to be home. It's not anymore. LA is home. It was a natural switch. I didn't even notice it happening. But this is where I belong. And I gave a little sigh last night as the plane started it's descent and I saw the lights of my city below me. Reunion was good...enlightening, interesting, funny, reminiscent. And I'm out of adjectives. :) The after-party festivities were....interesting and mostly amazing. Ha. I love my boys. They listened to my confessions and said the right things in response. Wisdom teeth extraction went ok. I still rallied to go to Nada Surf the same night so I guess that's fairly impressive. They still hurt today...but I'm better. And I'm back at work with a TON to do. So this is the end. I'm home.

It's not often I write an "automotive" blog... My car got crunched early Sunday morning. Sometime around 4:15 according to witnesses. She be dead. Let me tell you that it is quite odd to wake up and get ready to go, to walk out to your car and to see it looking like this... Anyone have insight on what I should get? There's been a lot of logistics on my end with talking to the cops, insurance people, rental car, the repair shop...not so fun. Luckily the guy got caught an hour or so after the accident but now it's a waiting game to see what happens next. Strange sense of emotional violation, but I'm feeling better. Thanks to everyone who listened to my frustrations!

Category: Quiz/Survey
01. Have you ever met an artist that you admire (musician, actor, painter, ect...)?: I am happy to say yes! Jimmy Gnecco, Butch Walker, and lots more which make me happy.
02. If so, was that encounter a positive one, or were you let down? Definitely have had good experiences.
03.What form (s) of art could you do everyday for the rest of your life and be content with?: photography and scrapbook stuff and music
04. If some elderly person cuts in front of you at a restaurant/store, do you tell them to get in the back of the line? How old/senile do they have to be for you to let it slide? Yes. I heart old people...they get overlooked way too often. I even like the crotchety ones because they remind me of my grandpa. "Young at Heart" reminded me again how much I like them, and I've found myself smiling at old people everywhere...they probably think I'm creepy.
05. If you back into a car in a parking lot and no one is around to see the accident, do you get the f out of there? I feel like I have a big guilt complex so I wouldn't be able to do that. "ohhh, should I leave a note?" -Clueless
06. Have you ever blacked out from way too much booze? What's the craziest story you've heard about yourself from said blackout? I will share just a few words...HOB, the Grafton, my front porch, IHOP, Starbucks and finally bed (indoors)
07. What food (s) can you no longer eat from the "too much booze" factor? nada de particular
08. Favorite band/song at the moment? Currently absorbing OURS' new album and listening to Worst Things Beautiful as often as possible whilst still working and having a social life
09. What are you passionate about? Music, LA life, my friends and family, work endeavors
10. What's was your favorite roadtrip? I think I have to say Memphis for this one...
11. Worst?
I can't remember anything specific. Maybe some of the ones when I was a kid and we were rolling around in the back of the van. Scratch that, that was fun!
12. Favorite concert? Ours in Chicago was pretty mind-blowing...two nights, 2 1/2 hour shows every night, hotter than I've ever been in my whole life and not caring. But there are so many great shows....
13. Drunkest concert? Takes away from the show...I limit.
14. If you knew that you wouldn't get caught, how fast would you drive down the highway on a road trip? Prob not faster than 85...tickets are expensive. Although in Indiana I recall some serious speeds on the country roads.
15. Do you already do this anyways? Nope.
16. If someone you get to know has a REALLY annoying laugh, do you actually address this issue, or let it slide? Do you become dark and mysterious if you don't address the laughing issue? Hahahaha. (oh sorry, is my laugh annoying?). A stranger once told my friend that she had an annoying laugh so she attempted to change it to something very low instead of high-pitched. That was remarkable to see her attempt...it didn't really work. A laugh is a laugh. Relax and be glad it isn't your laugh if you find it annoying. I am always dark and mysterious.
17. Have you ever felt the withdrawal symptoms from your coffee/tea addiction? Yes. I heart coffee.
18. If you're a non cuddly person when it's time to actually sleep at night and the person you're with IS a cuddly sleeper...do you address this issue, or try to sleep uncomfortably for the rest of the relationship? I am cuddly. Or not cuddly depending. This question is strange and off-putting and strangely intrusive. And random in fitting with the rest of the survey. Who in the world would just "suck it up" and sleep uncomfortably for an entire relationship...ha. (oh sorry, annoying laugh?)
19. How important is music to you? Have you met me? If not, why are you reading my survey? Yes, music is my boyfriend. My music is where I want you to touch.
20.Do you have certain songs or an album that have in a lot of ways saved your life? If you're willing to share, what's the song/album? "could I save your life like you saved mine...?" Nothing has saved my life specifically but music being a part of my life has definitely changed me and changed my mood and helped me a lot.
21. Do you have certain songs that were so powerful to you they bring you back to a certain memory/place/person? If you're willing to share, what's the song? Definitely! Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" will always make me think of Jenno.
Stroke 9's "Little Black Back Pack" makes me think of my girls at TU as does anything from the 10 Things soundtrack. and there are many many more but I don't have all day.
22. Why do you think the candy manufacturers make the green and yellow candies? Are you one of those sick people who eat them? This is such an odd question. I personally do not like banana runts...but they have rights just like the strawberry runts! And there are people that like the bananas. Give them a chance! And what did green ever do to you? Go Green!
23 Would you trust someone who actually puts orange marmalade on their toast for breakfast? Why do jam makers actually make orange marmalade? Marmalade makes me think of Paddington Bear. Keep it coming...I don't really like it, but he does.
24. Would you date a smoker? Have you ever stopped smoking for someone? Have you ever made a smoker stop because of you? I'm not a fan of it...and have never smoked a second of my life...well, only second-hand and I usually run away.
25 What are your thoughts on pot? Like I said...I've never smoked a second of my life.
26 Which band(s) is/are your guilty pleasure? I totally went to a BSB concert when I was younger....if you want to learn how to do harmony choose one of the guy's parts and go for it. I don't feel guilty though.
28. Have you ever dated a really bad kisser? What was the outcome of the situation? Yes. And there is no excuse. Beyond the age of 17 it should all be great! If not, work on it, kiddo! In both situations it didn't last long. But I've had some really great kissers to make up for it.... (sorry, Dad...I know you hate reading this sort of thing)
29. Do you watch really bad movies with your significant other because they wanna go, or do you compromise and have "girls/guys night out" so that situation doesn't happen? I can be pretty tolerant if it is someone's "favorite movie" but I also don't do well at hiding my distaste. What's with all the passive/aggressive responses? Have a girls night out to avoid a bad movie rather than saying you don't like something...cuddling in discomfort instead of saying "hey, I don't wanna cuddle..." the survey-maker has some issues.
30. Is there a certain band(s) that you can't stand because one of your ex's was annoyingly obsessed with them? There was a little DMB over-indulgence in my college dating past but that is ok.
31. What do you think is the reasoning of people who have personalized license plates? Are you one of these people? Do you also put orange marmalade on your toast? My family in Mississippi did it for family nicknames...I personally never have and don't think I ever will. But I support it. And I like figuring out the hard to understand ones. Some are really really stupid but obviously mean something to the person who put it on their car...who am i to judge? And leave orange marmalade out of this! That was extremely strange....

Saw the documentary Young at Heart two weeks ago and again last weekend (yes, it's that good). So when I heard that they were playing a show out here I knew I had to go. Katie C and I went last night to an amazing performance by these inspiring elders. So impressive to see their passion and love for music. New additions to their setlist were Nirvana's "Come as You are" and Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees." So incredible. They got a standing ovation and did an encore of two songs. As they ended the show by singing "Forever Young" and each threw their fists in the air for the last note I got SERIOUS goosebumps. I hope I'm still rocking out at 87 and loving life. I know Gerty would have been front and center in a choir like this...:) Go see the movie if it comes to your city! A-mazing!! I love Lenny. :)

"The Last Goodbye" I don’t believe you And I never will Oh I can’t live by your side With the lies you’ve tried to instill I can’t take anymore I dont have to give you a reason For leaving this time Coz this is my last goodbye It’s like I hardly know you But maybe I never did It’s like every emotion you showed me You kept well hid And every true word that you ever spoke Was really deceiving Now I’m leaving this time Coz this is my last goodbye I’ve gotta turn and walk away I don’t have anything left to say I haven’t already said before I’ve grown tired of being used And I’m sick and tired of being accused Now I’m walking away from you And I’m not coming back

The title of this is from the Wind in the Willows cartoon movie. Just in case you were wondering (it is the trial scene). :) Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that was a part of my birthday this year. From serenades over the phone (some more beautiful than others depending on their entertainment resumes...) to bday messages to those who came down to Gypsy Lounge on Friday to watch scb play with me it was fabulous! It's a great feeling to be with amazing friends like that on the day you were born. Well, and other days too. :) Thanks to the scb boys for playing and sounding amazing as usual and for the cupcakes. And to Katie C for her awesome cupcakes too. To those who helped with my debauchery by buying me beverages (Cory and Gretch, the other Cory, Devon, Austin, hmmm, and someone else I can't remember right now). To Kerri for hooking up the hotel room. To Brett for the GREAT tix to disney on Saturday! To Anne, Katie, Mom, KT, and Devon for putting up with me being in a wheelchair at disneyland and for taking turns pushing me around the park. To Devon for driving home because of my stupid foot. And to my amazing karaoke peeps who rocked it on Saturday night back in LA!!! So so so much fun. I love you all!! Thanks for helping my 28th year get off to an incredible start. :)

I hurt myself today...to see if I still feel. Ok, it wasn't today. It was on the 2nd. But I really did hurt myself. And yeah, I still feel. I rolled my ankle and apparently managed to have a high ankle sprain that usually happens to basketball and football players. I am special. After 10 days and it not getting better I went to the doctor.... One healthy foot, one not healthy foot Massiveness. My lovely rainbow ankle. Gay pride! And finally the boot I get to wear for the next month....ain't she purty? I'm going to be the most feminine Star Wars robot at the ball.
