29 Interesting Facts About Woodbine Hotline!

1. Their recording engineer's mom went on a date with Elvis Presley.

2. Each member of the band has been in at least one other band with at least one other member.

Paul + Benn (aisle-7)
John + Paul (Ever Since Now)
Mat + Benn (The Doozies!?)

3. Every song on the "Whitney In Space" EP gets gradually longer in length. This wasn't planned.

4. John's neighbor, Avior Zynda, came up with the band name "Woodbine Hotline." As a shout out to him, he is listed as the manger in the CD booklet for "The People That You Meet."

5. Paul is the oldest yet shortest member of the band.

6. John is the only member that actually lives in Woodbine.

7. Paul and Benn live in the same neighborhood. (not in Woodbine)

8. Benn was in a band called "The Last Goodbye" with Tom Ihle (one of the former members of All Time Low)

9. "Whitney In Space" is a reference to Paul's cousin Tim who has a dog named Whitney. Tim edited a picture to make it look like she was in a moonsuit floating around in space. He e-mailed the picture to paul under the name "whitney_in_space.gif"

10. Vince Giordano (Caught Falling, Damascus, Knuckles) provided guest screaming on "Like The World (Will Never Hear)."

11. In 2008, Woodbine Hotline won the Carroll County Battle of the Bands and the Century High School Battle of the Bands.

12. "For All Intents and Purposes" was recorded at Trevor Simpson's (Gatsby Gets The Green Light, Brighter Shades) house. He did guest percussion and Rhodes piano on the song.

13. Paul named the song "For All Intents and Purposes" because he was annoyed with people saying "For All Intensive Purposes" and wanted to set the record straight.

14. "The People That You Meet" was originally named "Stand Back! Stand Back! Stand Far, Far, Away" but the name changed after the band wanted different artwork on the cover.

15. The cover for "Whitney In Space EP" is a picture of the Lehigh cement plant in Union Bridge, Maryland.

16. Woodbine Hotline opened for Just Surrender.

17. The band practices at Benn's house.

18. During their live sets, the band plays all (but two) of their songs in different keys than on the actual recordings.

19. Paul's brother Adam designs the band's myspace layouts.

20. Paul and John are the only original members of the band. Initially, Tony Priola played bass and Joe K'Mon played drums.

21. Bob Mould stopped by the studio as they were recording "The People That You Meet." He was the singer and guitarist of Husker Du, Sugar, and wrote the theme song for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

22. One of the band's biggest fans, Jankarlo, lives in Kissimme, Florida. Paul finally met him in person in the summer of '08. He's in their top friends.

23. Ryan Burkett designed the CD booklet for the "Whitney In Space EP" in the Starbuck's Coffee located in Mount Airy.

24. Paul wrote "Detroit, Detroit" when he was only 14 years old. He has already begun writing a part II for the song.

25. Currently, no band in Carroll County has more myspace plays than woodbine hotline.

26. The band's first official practice took place on the night of a bad snow storm. Paul and Benn got in a mini car accident on the way to pick up John. That's when they started writing "Kissed In The Rain."

27. Paul has a fascination with designing Dr. Seuss themed fliers.

28. Benn Breeden is pretty good.

29. Paul wrote the lyrics for the new songs on "The People That You Meet"the week they were in the studio. This was possible because the first four days of recording were spent tracking drums, guitar, bass, and percussion while the fifth day was spent doing vocals.

To support the release of our "Whitney In Space" EP, we will be embarking on a mini tour of local high schools in the Carroll County area. Below are the confirmed dates for the tour.

January 5th: Century High School
January 6th: Winters Mill High School (Westminster Elks Lodge)
January 26th: Westminster High School

We would still like to book dates at Liberty, South Carroll, and North Carroll High School. If you or anyone you know could hook us up, that would be great!

Some video footage from the studio!

1.Paul recording guitar for "Kissed In The Rain"

2.Benn doing drums for "Whitney In Space"

3. Mat doing bass for "Whitney In Space" unlike anyone has ever done before.

In addition to the release of our EP, we have also revamped our myspae page! I hope you all like it :)

As for the EP and the release show....

1. What time does the show REALLY start?
As the flier says, the show will begin promptly at 7pm. However, stage doors will open at 6:40. To ensure that you get into the show I would recommend getting there a little earlier than 7.

2. Are the EPs really for free? What if I want to get more than one?
The EPs are free per one person. When you pay the $5 admission you will be handed an EP. Each additional EP will cost $5. The additional EPs will be available at the merch table.

3. When did you get a merch table?
Now that we have shirts to sell we have a merch table. More info about shirts will be dispensed via bulletins. They will be $10.

4. What ever happend with the original EP release date of October 20th?
There was a last minute decision to record one more song for the EP. In order to do so we had to postpone the date. The new song is called "For All Intenents and Purposes". It's track 5 on the EP. You're welcome.

5. Who are the opening acts?
www.myspace.com/autumnnoise
www.myspace.com/theharlequinsl

They're all good friends of ours.

6. Where is JAMS music store?
1438 Liberty Rd. Eldersburg, MD, 21784.

2. Kissed In The Rain
3. Whitney In Space

5. For All Intents And Purposes

Hey guys, it's me Paul here. I'm just giving everyone an update about the upcoming EP of ours. For those of you that didn't know, the recordings that are currently on our myspace were recorded all in one day in August of 2006. I used a free program called "Audacity" to do it straight from my house. (If any of you up and coming musicians are interested, you can download the program at this website: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ). But back to the EP, the band and I have decided to record an official 4 song EP! It's gonna be pretty sweet.

here is the tentative list of songs:

1. Philly's Magic
2. Kissed In The Rain
3. Whitney In Space
4. Like The World (Will Never Hear)

Just to give you guys a feel for what the E.P. is about, here's a little bit about each song:

1. Philly's Magic- This song is about the irony of a relationship I was once in. Sometimes the one thing you pride yourself on comes back to haunt you. John and I wrote this song. The title is a reference to a specific major league baseball team.

2. Kissed In The Rain -  This song is about a dream I once had. In the dream, it was raining and it was at night and I was kissing a girl I didn't even know but she was beautiful. Looking back it's almost as if the dream were foreshadowing events that would later happen in my life.

3. Whitney In Space- This song is about finally being able to stand up for yourself. It's also about being mad that it took me so long to be able to. The title is a reference to an inside joke between my cousin and I. His dog's name is Whitney. (For those dog lovers out there, she is a cocker spaniel poodle.)

4. Like The World- This song is about the kid I was in 7th grade. The girls in my grade would always tell me that I was "like a brother" to them. That's nice and all but I wanted girls to like me for more than that. They seemed to want to be with the bad ass trouble making guys in our grade. As I got older this pattern never changed. I hate it because I know what guys like that intend to do to girls and there is very little I can do to stop them. But I continue to try anyways.

Until next time!
