Their new record is being well-received.  I know I liked it:

SWITCHFOOT KICKS OFF 2010 WITH PERFORMANCES ON

“THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON” AND

AT ESPN’S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TAILGATE

BAND EXTENDS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR, CONTINUES FOOD DRIVE
BENEFITING LOCAL FOOD BANKS

SONGS FROM SWITCHFOOT’S NEW ALBUM, HELLO HURRICANE,

LICENSED BY VERIZON, “ONE TREE HILL,” “VAMPIRE DIARIES,”

THE FILM “TO SAVE A LIFE” OPENING JANUARY 22

SWITCHFOOT will kick off 2010 with a performance on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on Monday, January 4. Later that week, the band will be one of two groups playing the ESPN National Championship Tailgate, which will take place at the Rose Bowl Stadium just before the Alabama Crimson Tide face the Texas Longhorns in the Citi BCS National Championship Game on January 7.

The band has been playing sold-out shows since November, coinciding with the release of its latest album, Hello Hurricane, which debuted in the Top 15 of The Billboard 200. The North American tour, which has been extended through January, features SWITCHFOOT playing Hello Hurricane in its entirety, followed by an assortment of fan favorites from its previous albums. SWITCHFOOT will continue to collect donations for local food banks along the way, so fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to the concerts. (See below for the itinerary and a list of food banks that will receive donations.)

“Mess Of Me,” the lead single from Hello Hurricane, is used in the trailer and television commercials for Samuel Goldwyn’s Films’ “To Save A Life,” which will be released on January 22. You can check out the trailer at: http://tosavealifemovie.com/index.php

The track has also been tapped for use by NHL Music Nights on Fox Sports Net and by ESPN for college football bumpers. Numerous other tracks from Hello Hurricane have been licensed – “The Sound (John M. Perkins’ Blues)” was used in the recent Verizon Wireless ad campaign for the BlackBerry® Storm™ 2 while “Bullet Soul” was selected for WWE’s “TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs” pay-per-view. “Yet” was heard in The CW’s new hit show, “The Vampire Diaries,” while the network’s “One Tree Hill” used six minutes of the epic “Your Love Is A Song” to close a recent episode.

Recorded with producer/bassist Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Rilo Kiley, Eminem, and Pink), Hello Hurricane is SWITCHFOOT’s seventh full-length and its first on Atlantic Records. The band was featured in a Rolling Stone “In The Studio” piece and on the cover of Relevant Magazine while the new album was a critic’s pick in USA Today’s Fall Music feature. “On ‘Needle and Haystack Life,’ singer Jon Foreman works his breathy croon over surging pop-punk guitars; ‘This Is the Sound’ has a brutish, heavy-metal vibe; ‘Enough’ rides a percolating art-folk groove; and ‘Bullet Soul’ could be something by Swedish garage rock band the Hives,” said Billboard while Alternative Press hailed the title track as “an uplifting, hope-giving affirmation of resurgence.”

Band members Jon Foreman (vocals/guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamillas (keys/guitar) and Drew Shirley (guitar) are continually seeking new ways to convey that message of hope. In that spirit, that they are launching a new website, http://www.theworldyouwant.com, which will spotlight goodness, beauty and truth in everyday life. Fans are invited to contribute stories about people they know who are making this world a better place. With the holidays quickly approaching, Jon Foreman addressed the timely topic of “Compassion vs. Consumption” in the second of two articles he penned for The Huffington Post:  www.huffingtonpost.com.

DELIRIOUS? FAREWELL CONCERT IN LONDON TO BE BROADCAST WORLDWIDE DEC. 27 ON GOD TV

Broadcast Previews Live Farewell CD/DVD Scheduled To Release May 2010

------------------------------------

History Makers: Greatest Hits CD Garners Acclaim

Nashville, TN (December 4, 2009) –The UK-based, RIAA Certified Gold-selling, GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award winning band Delirious? played its final, farewell concert at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo Nov. 29.  Although sold-out well in advance, fans of Delirious? will be able to see highlights of this historic concert as GOD TV was there and captured exclusive footage to share with its worldwide audience.  As part of a full evening of programming to recognize the band’s many achievements, a three-hour “Delirious? Night” is scheduled for broadcast on GOD TV Sunday, Dec. 27 at 9:30 p.m. (EST) with a replay on Monday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. (EST).  (Check your local listings.)

As a precursor to a Delirious? farewell live CD/DVD from the London concert scheduled to release in May 2010 from Kingsway, “Delirious? Night” on GOD TV will include footage from the live concert and the network’s youth presenters Chip-K and Emma Owen interviewing the band’s lead vocalist Martin Smith, guitarist Stu G, keyboardist Tim Jupp, bassist Jon Thatcher and drummer Paul Evans, who took over for Delirious? founding member Stew Smith in 2008.  The program will also include a video countdown of the Top 10 Delirious? songs of all time, as voted by GOD TV viewers. GOD TV’s potential viewing audience of half-a-billion viewers worldwide is being encouraged to visit the network’s website to choose their favorite track out of 15 songs the band has short-listed. The online poll at www.god.tv/delirious closes on Dec. 15.

“Delirious? was formed in the UK at much the same time as GOD TV was birthed in 1995 and it has been our privilege to feature these anointed worshippers many times over the past 14 years,” said GOD TV co-founder and Director of Television, Wendy Alec.  “We at GOD TV want to commend the band members for all they have done and especially for the many lives they have helped bring into the Kingdom of God.  I have no doubt their music will continue to impact people across the globe for many years to come.”

GOD TV can be seen from coast-to-coast across the US on channel 365 of DIRECTV, as well as on select local cable stations in cities such as San Francisco. Online viewers can watch at www.god.tv or via video on demand at www.god.tv/god.

In addition to the upcoming live CD/DVD, Delirious? released its History Makers: Greatest Hits CD worldwide last month on Kingsway (Survivor) with EMI CMG Distribution.  The album includes the definitive Delirious? songs that inspired a generation of worshippers to live life “out loud,” and that continue to be sung today throughout the world by literally millions of people every week.  Included in this collection are such genre defining modern worship classics as “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever,” “Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble,” “Majesty,” “My Glorious” and “Shout To The North.”

“This exceptional collection of songs has inspired a generation of worshippers to live life out loud,” says Amazon.com, as NewReleaseTuesday.com rates History Makers: Greatest Hits with five-stars and calls the recording an “utterly spectacular compilation.”

In addition to the History Makers: Greatest Hits CD, Delirious? has compiled a Limited Edition two-CD, 30-song collection and a DVD featuring all 13 of the band’s concept music videos.  With both contemporary and worship tracks represented across the two CDs, the band members have also put together a 58-page booklet for History Makers: Greatest Hits (Limited Edition) that charts their journey over the last 17-years.  All wrapped in a cardboard slipcase, only 12,000 copies will be available worldwide.

“A true, long-time fan would have already heard these great songs, but to have this final collection is definitely worth it,” says JesusFreakHideout.com, calling Delirious? “one of the greatest worship groups of all time” and going on to “recommend the limited edition package, not just for long-time fans of Delirious?, but for anyone.”

“Between its alternative praise beginnings and stadium-shaking modern rock breakthrough, the band’s left an indelible mark upon younger musicians and is one of the few faith-based bands to truly amass a global following,” adds CCMmagazine.com.

Known as the forerunners of the modern worship movement and as one of the industry’s best live bands, Delirious? over the last decade have closed for the Pope in front of a million people in Germany, played in front of hundreds of thousands in India, headlined the 2004 Olympic Celebrations at the Omonia Square in Athens, Greece, toured with Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Matchbox 20, and headlined at SWR3’s Arena of Sound 2004 music festival, where more than 80,000 fans filled the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart, Germany.

Having released 14 albums and selling nearly three million recordings, and with seven Top 40 general market UK chart singles and two Top 30 general market UK chart albums, Delirious? grew out of the UK “Cutting Edge” youth meetings in the early 1990s. Regarded internationally as the galvanizing force that changed the face of worship worldwide, Delirious? members currently have 22 songs on the CCLI charts. With its music being played and sold in over 100 countries, the band has also been honored with two Gospel Music Association International Awards.

More information about the band can be found at www.delirious.co.uk and www.kingsway.co.uk/survivor.

******* special newsboys update - winter 2009 *******

While many know Peter Furler as founder and lead singer of the multi-million selling band newsboys, few are privy to the more private side of Furler's creative life.

What most of us didn't know, is that Peter has another artistic gift - that of oil painting.

Currently, Furler's paintings can be seen in record company offices, recording studios and management firms. Now, for the first time, he is placing six of his original paintings on eBay for collectors and fans.

No doubt many investors and fans will be looking to own a piece of Furler's legacy. The paintings, like his music, show another side of the imagination of one of CCM'S most successful singer/songwriters.

"I love mixing paint colors, just like I love mixing guitar chords," says Furler. "Out of one comes something you've never seen before, out of the other, a song you've never heard.''

One of the unique and creative aspects of Furler's paintings is the form in which they appear. While some of his art is painted on regular canvas, Furler also has a series of paintings (Garden of Eden) that are painted on drum heads (see above).

Although Furler has been newsboys' frontman for the past 12 years, he started with the band as its drummer and is pleased to see his art take full circle.

For those interested in purchasing one of Furler's pieces, search "Peter Furler paintings" on eBay. The auctions close between 1:00 pm CST and 4:00 pm CST on Friday, December 11.

To view more of Furler's paintings, visit his online gallery at peterfurler.com.

“The LORD helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads. All eyes look to you for help; you give them their food as they need it. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.”—Psalm 145:14-16, NLT

I vividly remember the time I spent in Romania some years ago. I had really felt called to serve there on a short-term mission trip, working behind the scenes in whatever ways God called me. As I witnessed how so many homeless people—little children, teens, adults, and entire families—lived right on the streets and in the sewers in the midst of the garbage, I realized that they weren’t really living. They were living half a life. They were alive . . . but they were dead. Some of them inhaled glue in an attempt to escape the hurt. As I looked into their eyes, they were just gone. It wasn’t merely because of the drugs or the conditions of their existence. It was the fact that they needed Jesus. A transformation was necessary in their lives that would give them hope.

In his book, The Irresistible Revolution: Living As an Ordinary Radical, Shane Claiborne challenges the followers of Jesus to abandon the “American dream” and to rethink what true biblical Christianity needs to look like in today’s culture, especially as it relates to how Christians should be reaching the poor and the hurting in real and tangible ways. It might be in the inner city or in the poorest parts of the world. We have an obligation to bring hope to them. But you know what? People in North America, and in other rich parts of the world, are also in desperate need of hope. They might have a lot more—a nice house, a great car, and money—but many people are not really living, they’re dead. Everyone everywhere is looking for hope. Everyone everywhere is in need of Jesus.

Do you feel spiritually alive or dead today? Is there an area of your life that needs to be resurrected by Jesus? He already knows your specific needs, and He wants to provide the hope that you long for. Confess your desperate need for Him, and then give Him free reign to accomplish His will in your life.

The band is currently on tour in support of their seventh studio album, Hello Hurricane.

Dates have been selling out from coast-to-coast!

"It's a sleekly presented modern-rock album with no shortage of bruising guitars or catchy choruses." - Billboard

"On their seventh album, Switchfoot set the mood with U2-esque shimmer ("Needle and Haystack Life"), fuzzed out rockers that would make Dave Grohl green with envy ("Mess of Me," a rally against prescription drug abuse) and jangly garage-rock ("Bullet Soul")." - Alternative Press

"The group added some heft to its super catchy alternative rock...Mess of Me - a song about fighting one's inner demons- is a stop-start rocker that kicks off with a serrated guitar scrawl, and Bullet Soul is a crescendoing punk rager." - Rolling Stone

“…Hello Hurricane the ultimate benchmark for any like-minded act, and amongst this band's very best.” - CCM
