How many times have you clicked on a screaming headline. "DISGRUNTLED NUTCASE KILLS 8 WITH RUSTY NAIL GUN." only to find there is absolutely NO indication of where it happened? this happens in my local newspaper on the "News from all over" page sometimes when it picks up "weird and grisly" newswire stories with the name of the TOWN but not the STATE or in some cases COUNTRY. DISPUTED TERRITORY. or whatever. Sometimes the only clue is the language. such as when the jealous boyfriend ran over his "mate." or when the suspect was last seen wearing a fez. The fine print in the URL sometimes holds a clue such as " .au " But how am I to know next time a gun nut goes barricade in "Springfield." or "Gardner" that it's safe to go antiquing? And if I don't know what country it's in. how can I fill in the visual details? In what kind of torn. blood-stained clothes do I picture the victim? do I picture Hercule Poirot. square-jawed Mountie. local paper is posted in a hurry.

so the first most people knew of it was when their private mail servers stopped working. So I've set in train the change to Demon. which will be a fiver a month cheaper and require no dynamic DNS (static IP). Experience shows that this should result in more reliable service. so old mail addresses may no longer work. Apologies.
I find the frogs ok with the benoit whathisname drivers. although thats using a pentium 200 box (hardly dual processor) so I havent had that difficulty.
I kicked demon ino to touch in 1995. I still get the odd phone call about there their annual subscription is. I've been working with a Norwagian business partner ( don't tell the girlfriend! which reallly confuses you if you have a limited grasp of the local language. and are trying toset the server up from the Netherlands at the time (:

My name is Taylor (as the overly elaborate footer might indicate) and I have been on a noble quest to find my long-lost friends ever since about two months after High-School grad. It wasn't too easy a time. I moved from Lahr to Geilenkirchen two days after grad and in the flurry of activity that ensued (this was the before last year Lahr was open. the last year of L.S.S.) my friends also moved. scattering across the country. leaving me in the dust. I can't help but feel like a jerk. since I was never a very good corres- pondant. but I did try writing to two of my closest friends but one had moved (no forwarding address). it seems. The people I do meet. I don't have anything in common with them anyway. (N.B. Im not depressed. just slightly melancholic.) I guess what I can do is list the people I am looking for. and if anyone out there can help me. Babette Santos -- Last thing I heard. she was in Kingston. but I wrote to her a couple years back and no response. No phone number either. Her dad's name is Rigoberto. Michael Pilling -- Last thing I heard. but I've looked and I haven't found him. I'm not sure he has the same last name as his dad. Ethan Osland -- His mother was a teacher at L.S.S. known as Mrs. Harrison. He moved to Winnipeg and eventually B.C.. his dad was a percussionist for Fred Penner and organized the Winnipeg Folk festival. His brother. Glenn Vergie -- The resident track star. he went to Bowling Green University in the States for a year and ended up returning to Alberta. Boy did he have a way with the ladies! (chuckles all around) There are plenty more. but these are the ones that come to mind. If you know where any of these people might be (or if you are one of these people). please e-mail me. If you are also looking for someone from this period. I know where the following people are: Jason Anderson (without a "Y"... inside joke) Shawna Boughton (I know where her parents are...) Sebastien Cormier (Queens U. Masters of Physics)

Need help finding someone? I'll tell you this. I CAN'T find ANYONE. ANYTIME. That's right. I CAN'T. No one can. Plain and simple. But I do find a very large percentage. I know that you're using this message board because it's free. Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes the free searches work. unfortunately most of the time they don't. When I see a request for someone that is/was in Texas. I usually do a quick lookup of that person through Texas DMV. Sixty percent of the time there is a record for them. I have access to many Texas databases. and can find Texans rather inexpensively. Of course I can find people in other states as well. but it costs me a bit more (translated to....costs you a bit more too). So go ahead and give the free sites a shot. Hopefully you will be lucky and get a hit. If not. consider calling a local PI. I say local. because they will generally be cheaper than someone in another state. Most PI's have more complete databases for their own state. Sometimes locates can be made for as little as $10-15 dollars. Doesn't hurt to ask. Just take a moment to gather all the information you have on that person. Try to find any of this info on your person: Full Name. Date of birth. SS# Are they collecting SS Benifits? Any and all old addresses. Any and all old phone numbers. Any and all old pager/cellphone numbers. Relatives/family names. Their old addresses. Vehicle ownership. Property ownership. Professional licenses. Do they have a criminal record? Have they ever sued/been sued? Have they ever voted? Do they hunt/fish? Do they owe money? What organizations do they/did they belong to? What magazines did they/do they subscribe to? What are their hobbies? Ever been in the military? Where is their family? The easiest way to find someone is to ask someone who knows! Call directory assistance and ask for that person by name. Then ask how many people are listed with just that first initial. Also ask for a business listing in that person's name. Often times people have unlisted phone numbers. yet will list their business as "John Doe's Carpet Cleaning". You may want to try the nationwide Directory Assistance also. I think they are something like 10-10-2000 or something like that. Those are some of the things you should look for before going to an investigator. It may not seem important to you. but for the investigator it may be the one solid lead that finds your friend. One word of caution. If you do not have good intentions towards the person you are looking for. please do not waste the time of a PI. A good PI will not release the location of that person to you until that person says that it is OK. Too many PI's have been burned by stalkers. and just plain wack-o's. if you want to contact a PI or searcher. feel free to ask their qualifications. They should be licensed in the state in which they do business and carry liability insurance. Call the Better Busines Bureau to see if they have any complaints lodged against them. Call the PI and ask the number to their Licensing Board. Call the Board and make sure the PI has a valid license and has no complaints lodged against him or his company. There are just as many unscrupulous PI's as there are in other professions. Protect yourself and your cash. Don't be surprised if the PI asks for a retainer. 99% of them will. We have learned that many times people "forget" to pay once they have their info. There are just as many unscrupulous people as there are....well. you get the point. We have to protect our cash also. There aren't too many places left in the world where you can get the merchandise and tell them to "bill you". Now if we can't find your person. don't give up. Ask for a full report of all the searches done for you. This way if you decide to try again later. you will not duplicate certain searches. Sometimes just waiting a month or two will be long enough for your friend to surface. Also you can write to all the old addresses that you've found for your SUBJECT. He/She may not be there anymore. but may have left a forwarding address. It could also be a relative or friend who lives there now. First write a letter addressed to the SUBJECT and on the lower left hand corner of the envelope write. Address Service Requested". That way. if there is a forwarding address on file. the post office will return your letter to you with the new address. If your letter comes back to you saying "no longer there" or something to that effect. send it back addressed to "(subject's name) OR CURRENT RESIDENT". That way. hopefully they will not feel bad about opening your letter and perhaps will have some information for you. Write a letter to your subject. expressing why you need to contact them. and put your return address and contact info in it. Make this a humanitarian reason. Put the letter in an envelope. BUT DO NOT SEAL OR ADDRESS IT! Then place that unsealed envelope inside of a bigger envelope. Write a letter to the following agency asking them to forward your letter to your subject for humanitarian reasons. They will read your letter so make sure you make it sound good. You can do this for each of the following agencies. They will forward your letter if they feel your reasons are justified. HOWEVER. they will not tell you the new address. or if they have sent it. This is a longshot. but it often works. Takes a month or so. They need your subject's full name and date of birth. Also include the SS# if you have it. If your subject is receiving benefits or if they are in the records you have a good chance. Internal Revenue Service Disclosure Office. ALSO just for kicks. send a letter to the Department of motor vehicles for the state you think they may hold a license. Some states will forward a letter to the person for a small fee of like $5. Make sure in your letter you state that you are willing to pay any fees. Might not hurt to pick up the phone book and call them first. I hope that you find that special person that you are looking for. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line. If I can't help you. I am certain I can send you to someone who can. Scott Baldwin Angel Investigations.

I was wondering whether there are any suitable locations for those 'starting out' so to speak. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Heck. -- Both of my parents are Plains Elk. Hylas. (Tickler of Spoons and Lord High Dishwasher of St. Goldihaawns rest home for the pathologically improbable)

Have any of y'all who are in a position to recommend people for a calling in an auxiliary ever recommended yourself? recommending yourself to teach a sunday school class as Sunday School president? Or recommending yourself to teach a primary class when a member of the primary presidency? Voluntarism is good if and only if no one is available. Better or worse is not the question. Remember. we aren't raising cows. (Anyone remember whose talk I am referring to? have you prayed about it? If you feel strongly moved and are fairly confident Who it is that moves you. consult privately with the rest of the presidency. is what I would suggest.
When I was a High Priest Group Leader all the Group leaders in the Stake were ask to recommend names of people to work in the Family History Library. The Stake had just divided and we needed people staff a new Library. It was hard to find people who wanted to work there. When I knew I was going to be released but before the actual release I told the Stake President I would like to work in the Family History Library. Then when I met with the Stake President to be released he gave me the call to work in the Library. Of course in my Patriartical Blessing I was told to never turn down an opportunity to do work for the dead so it wasn't all my idea. This is slightly different than what you are talking about since I was recommending myself for my next calling not something about a current calling. I don't think it is out of line but it is hard to be objective about yourself. Just because you recommend something doesn't mean it will happen. It's just an idea and some idea's are good and some are not.
Yes I did 2 years ago. As Sunday School President at the time I recommended myself as Gospel Doctrine Teacher. The Bishopric agreed and I am still teaching the class. I was released as President a couple of months ago. i love the teaching calling.
I was Sunday School President once. and we needed a new Gospel Doctrine teacher. The bishop asked for my recommendations. I went home and mulled it over. and the name that came popping up was mine. So. I recommended myself. He said he would consider the matter as he considered any such recommendation. A week later her called me into his office and released me as SS Pres. and called me to be the new Gospel Doctrine Teacher.
is surprising success.
I have already tried sending a reply to the group a few days ago but it has not shown up on the system. I am new & that was my first attempt so perhaps I did something wrong. Yes I recommended myself as Gospel Doctrine Teacher when I was Sunday School President 2 years ago. The Bishopric agreed as they had the same thought. I am still there now but was released as Pres a couple of months ago.

I found that an old classmate died last week of AIDS and I wish to attend the memorial. I have no information. He may have lived in the Bay area. Any way of finding out about memorials to be held? Search function thru the Internet.

where is everyone from. and do you see many scooters on the road where you live? are there any scooter clubs around you aswell? and i'm about to take my permit test. so hopefully i'll be riding soon.
I'm in Sacramento. CA. I have the Majesty 400. There are scooters here. but this area is big with Bikers & Cruisers.
S. Florida here (Jensen Beach). Bunch of red necks in pick up trucks with harley stickers on 'em. And harleys period. A few scoots around. Farther south (Palm Beach. Miami) it is better (scooter wise-not crime wise). When I first got my Malaguti phantom 50 (3 years ago) and rode it around. you'd think my alien space ship was parked around the corner. It has gotten better and I think I might have helped that. I see burgmans. elites and reflex's and some helix's . But very few Aprilla or Vespa (closest vespa dealer is 40 miles away). A lot of though guy syndrome still exists here in redneckville (translation = Harley riders posing). I have a lot of clients in black neighborhoods. They like scooters. but cluelessly buy mostly Chinese. I guess someone is keeping them in business. I try to warn them though.....
where i live in ky. i have seen a few scooters. i've seen a couple silverwings. and a couple of helixs. but i haven't seen any kymos yet. oh yea and i've seen a reflex aswell. it seems to be growing slowly here. Scooter meetup keeps bugging me to come . but its 45 minutes each way and they insist on Monday evenings a 6:00 PM. and by the time the meeting breakes up its dark and I hate riding fast arteriels at night. Seattle has pretty good sized ralleys on weekends. and I go to those occcasionally. but I'm too old for that crowd really. Houston gives new meaning to urban sprawl! I'm 12 miles west of the downtown area and there are probably half a million people who live west of me 3-4 miles north and south of I-10. the only east-west freeway for miles and miles! Texas is widening I-10 from a total of 6 lanes to 24 lanes in my area right now! That is not counting the other vectors of the compass. Getting anywhere usually entails getting on the FEW freeways which pretty much precludes scooters. The 65 MPH speed limit is normally ignored and 80 MPH typical on the weekend. The majority of the time I-10 is a parking lot. In any case. I don't want to get on any of the freeways with a scooter of any horse power. The majority of scooters I see are in the older. more community based parts of Houston within 3-4 miles of downtown. and that is where you find the scooter shops. Well. Suzuki's and Yamahas. I see a few scooters in my area but not often. There may be clubs too for all I know. but I'm not much of a joiner so that is not important to me. Due to summer high temperatures and debilitating humidity. spring and late fall are the riding seasons here and there are a lot of motorcycle riders out right now. They are mostly Harley's and speed racers. Most of the Harley riders around here are perfect examples of the triumph of attitude over substance. It is amusing to see the urban yuppies and non-yuppies dressed in Sonny Berger Hell's Angel Bad Ass chic. The last 20 years I've owned larger bikes and I'm selling my Honda ST1100 sport tourer to get a scooter. My touring days ended with back surgery and getting on a 730 pound bike to run to the grocery is a little absurd. I rode a friend's Vespa back at University and would love to get a Vespa GT or even a Piaggio BV200. but the dealership is a side office in a Ferrari/Maserati dealership and is obviously a very low priority sideline operation. Plus. the cost of a Vespa seems on a scale with the cars; $5. The real "scooter" shop carries Kymco. and several other lines all crammed into an old service station with the service bays for wrenching. It exudes atmosphere. and character unlike what you see in the Japanese shops. Until I saw several Kymco models there. I had pretty much ruled them out on the basis of the pictures on Kymco's web site. The real things are pretty darned nice looking and I like what I'm hearing about their quality! Kymco needs to redo their picture spreads. I like the idea of the Chetak with its Vespa look. I even like its India origins. I saw a bunch of Bajaj scooters in Indonesia. and Malaysia. I thought Bajaj was a Vespa model name for a long time! The loads they could carry were astonishing. something with larger wheels and horses will also allow me to get into the country once in a while. And then there is the question of storage. Can I put the gallon of milk under the seat? Burgman and Majesty. I'm shying away from Aprillia right now due to their uncertain future. And though the Derbi would give me Piaggio quality at a lower price. they just aren't available because their distributorship is still in turmoil.
Japan. Lots of scooters here. 99% are Japanese made. Few Chinese and Taiwanese imports. The Chinese scoots are known to be crap and Japanese people are wary of Taiwanese goods. even though KYMCO makes great scooters. There are plenty of scooter clubs but you must remember that scooters are considered to be practical vehicles used mostly for getting to work or school. There is no "stigma" or "allure" to scootering here. They are just a means of transportation or pizza or ramen delivery. Some aficionados buy Italian scooters. but these are heavily marked-up. Tokyo has lots of maxi-scooters that you won't see in other parts of the country. Come to think of it. only in Tokyo will you find people who self-conciously ride scooters as a "lifestyle statement".
I live in Melbourne. Australia. There is a resurgence of scooters over here. mainly the Korean/Taiwanese variety as cheap commuters. but a lot of newly restored Vespas and Lammies as well as new ones. I bought a new Vespa PX200 which are still available here for AUD$6300 on road. while most Vespa sales are the GT and ET series. The club scene is a bit weak. I am a member of the Melbourne Scooter Connection. which is open to all scooter riders and runs informal runs and meets. There is also a Vintage Italian Scooter Club. but this is only open to pre 1977 scooters. Scooter riding is great in Melbourne. the traffic congested. the weathers usually mild with light to medium rain and lots of varied trips to be had nearby. The other great plus is that a motorcycle can legally park on the footpath. so going out is a breeze.
