As many of you know by now, Hugh Panaro will be starring as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at the historic Walnut Street Theatre in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Based on Victor Hugo's epic novel, Les Miserables has been one of the most sucessful musicals for the past twenty years in London's West End, on Broadway, and on tour.

This new production will run from May 13 to August 3.

Please check Hugh's website, HUGH-PANARO.NET for all sorts of news and updates about this exciting new project.

Links to the Philly Les Miserables site and the official announcement are already available on our "Les Mis" page and we'll be adding more as it becomes available.

Congratulations to Hugh on this wonderful role and hope to see you all in Philadelphia this summer!

In the meantime, feel free to e-mail if you have any questions or comments.

A new song has been added to the Music Player. It's "Tonight," a duet with Kristin Chenoweth ("Wicked," "The Apple Tree") from the recently released "A Place For Us," an album celebrating the 50th Anniversary of "West Side Story." The album is a compilation of previous recordings by such stars as Barbra Streisand, Andy Williams, Canadian Brass, and Brian Stokes Mitchell, as well as this version of "Tonight" which Hugh and Kristin recorded specially for the album earlier this year.

The song is available through iTunes at:
Tonight on iTunes

The complete album is available in most music stores now or on-line at:

A Place For Us on Amazon.com

Enjoy the music!

When he does concerts, Hugh loves to mention that he always wanted to play Tony in "West Side Story" and that he never got that chance.

But the chance is coming to hear Hugh singing one of the loveliest songs from the musical. A few months ago, Hugh and Kristin Chenoweth recorded "Tonight" together for a new album honoring the musical.

"A Place For Us - Celebrating Fifty Years of West Side Story" features tracks from such stars as Julie Andrews, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Neil Diamond, and Barbra Streisand.

It's set for release in early September, but it's now available for pre-order.

As soon as more details, cover art, promotional information is available, we'll have it posted at Hugh's site.

Since it's about the midpoint of Barbra's European concert tour...a quick rundown of bits and pieces!

Before leaving for Europe, Michael Arden, Peter Lockyer, Sean McDermott, and Richard Jay Alexander did a video interview with BroadwayWorld.com:

BWW Interview - Part One

BWW Interview - Part Two

The "Broadway Boys" also did an interview with Playbill.com:

Q: As a leading man, is it tough subsuming yourself in the group dynamic?

Panaro: It's not really because one thing that the four of us do pretty naturally, which comes from performing as a soloist or a leading man, is duets. I sang so many duets. You watch someone's mouth and your consonants and vowels, your phrasing…At the risk of sounding crass, it's like good sex. You really pay attention to your partner, what you're giving and what you're getting. The four of us really watch each other and tune into each other. I think being part of a group is rewarding, especially when you get four voices in harmony. It's beautiful! Especially if you're four voices moving as one. I sang in concert choir in college [and] at Carnegie Hall. When you're part of a group, there's a certain camaraderie and a power with four guys, a lot more power than just one. If there was one a-hole in the group, you might feel differently, but everybody's great and everybody pulls their weight. I love making music, and that's kind of what we're doing.

And our page for the tour at Hugh's site is currently up-to-date with a gallery of photos from the tour.
