Category: Music

Hey :)

I've recieved SO many messages asking where to buy my music recently and I have to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has asked this, its a really really great feeling to know that what im making is giving people something to boogie too :) I've tried my best to answer each of these messages but right at the moment im in a wierd situation which due to legal matters I cant go into (bah). Now I am planning on getting my music out there for people but at the moment the only label im with is purely related to my chill out music (which can be found on the last.fm link somewhere around here), as yet I dont have a label to publish anything else (although im hoping this will change in the very near future).

Im currently working on something which I hope will give me a chance to get a new contract but I face several problems, such as time, money and the usual type of stuff, this wont hopefully be a long term problem though and im hoping to get some stuff for download on a site which allows me to sell it through them by MP3, of course this will be nice and cheap for everyone interested, I never intended to get into music to make myself rich but purely to do something I love and hopefully manage to make enough money to live by, so the moment I get this sorted I'll make a blog entry with the details on it, of course a real label contract would be cooler but im pretty broke at the moment and seriously need to upgrade my computer to carry on doing music.

But just seeing that my songs get around 300 or so plays a day is a real buzz for me, and I would dearly love to allow the music to be downloaded but doing this takes alot of time and effort and when I allowed music for download before I found that everyone would download it and not so much as leave a message, which was kind of a shame.

But I just wanted to leave a message here explaining whats going on, hopefully this will be sorted out soon and so on :)

A big thanks to everyone who listens, reads and takes the time to visit my page, and as I said previously, I try my best to answer all messages and to leave comments on peoples pages but life is often hectic and my memory is pretty damn bad, so if you think im ignoring you then you have my sincere apologies, im just a doofus at heart and dont mean it ;)

Anways, thanks for reading :D

I take great pleasure in clicking the report button when you try to spam my page with adverts, chain crap and offers, so much so that sometimes I even hit it twice, just to make sure. I check every single link that gets posted on my page and if I deem it spam or "non myspace" related then you might as well kiss your account goodbye. You have been warned.

This doesnt apply to people trying to advertise their own music of course, EVERYONE needs a little help and if I can help a fellow musician out then im more than happy to do so.

Current mood:  sick

Just a quickie blog post....

Many people dont like the commercial style of music I have on my myspace page, I can understand this but I have great fun making it and all that, but I've never been one to confine myself to one genre and have a bunch of old songs that I cant really fit on myspace, these songs however were written with software I dont use anymore, mainly because it doesnt do enough, but I figured that I should upload it somewhere and drop it off for you guys, although if you listen and enjoy it dont forget I spent a great deal of time making it all and I dont have an income, so anyone kind enough to hit my donation button and donate even a few cents or pennies would really be a great person in my book.

Anyway, find the songs at http://www.last.fm/music/Uncle+Mart/Chillin+Out

You can use the last.fm client to play them or use the flash player thats in built to the page, I just hope you enjoy then :)

Peace out, till next time.

P.S I've been kind of off writing music as I have a kind of serious lung condition at the moment, obviously any vocal stuff is out of the question and even sitting upright is pretty tricky without whining like a hurt kid, but I will be putting some new tunes up soon, although they're a little more of a hard/progessive trance style...

Current mood:  awake

Well in my profile it says im not signed, its not entirely true so maybe I should explain.

As some people reading this might know, I moderate www.theisonews.com , while this site isnt illegal in any way shape or form, it IS a website dedicated to the discussion of the acts of piracy, however its impossible to find out where to download things and is purely for talking, I had a feeling this might give me problems with my music career one day, but I'll get back to this later.

So, I kind of "fell" into the music buissness, it turns out a friend of mine knew a record label owner and never told me (I wasnt really writing music at the time), however I ended up getting quite broke and was going to move to England, my friend didnt want this and suggested he speak to the label owner.

I was later contacted by the owner of the label and he asked if I could write some samples of music using chill out as a style as he had an idea, I went off and knocked some work up for him and when I passed this on he was REALLY happy, so happy in fact that he offered me a three album contract, each album being printed 30,000 times, of course only a fool would refuse this so I jumped at the chance.

Over a year has passed now and I have handed over an hour and a half of chill out music to my record label, and im glad to say they were VERY happy about the music I gave them, however after talking with the owner we decided that it was probably best that my name didnt go on the album for obvious reason.

So I've made three albums, but the shame of it is I'll never see any kind of fame from this as im not really allowed to publicly make the connection between me and my albums, and its still going to be sometime before I even see the fortune part ;) still its been a great learning experience and its a pretty big buzz to know that I managed this.....

So what are my plans next? Well I decided to take a step down from the music world and get into the slightly less crazy world of computer games, I've always been a great lover of games and feel my efforts would be very rewarding in that area, so currently my profiles status is correct when it says unsigned, but hopefully that wont be there too long ;) but one fact that I found out while doing this was from a friend, apparently the amount of albums that go into print are enough to get to number 1 in many European countries, however thats NOT going to happen because all 30k units for each album wont be moving at the same time, it was a mass press and will be sold over time, but if you live in the EU and you buy a new chill out album, it might well be me, props to anyone who can recognise my style! although I would appreciate if someone does to respect my obligations and not post it publicly ;) im sure you dont want me getting in trouble (OR DO YOU???)

I've had a couple offers of work but oddly these never worked out because my experience in the music industry doesnt count for the computer game industry which is kind of sad :( however, being the crazy fool I am, I decided it would be better to work for free than not to work at all so I emailed a company who had sent me back a REALLY nice reply explaining that they liked my music but had no kind of budget to "feed me" ;) I offered my services for free because it gives me experience and I felt the email I was sent was so nice that I should try and offer something back, only sent before this entry was made so no reply yet but I suspect they will take me up on the offer.

Anyway, If I end up working for a larger game company I'll be sure to make a blog about it.

Thanks as always for reading!

Current mood:  happy

Thought I'd update my blog as I havent made a new song in a couple of months (at least not one I can release out publicly, all others are being used for little projects), so here is one I made in about 2 days flat.

Im kinda happy with this one as it has a nice entry into the song, and alot of energy flows throughout, it maybe the old tried and tested dance style but I dont see the problem in basing a song upon a style which has given many people some classic tunes to listen to. I sat down with this song with the vision of not stopping writing until I was done, that included not touching other songs of any kind and not playing any games/going out, so after two days of very bad living this is the end result, its still undergoing little changes but I feel its complete enough to release a version to the world, of course I'll be touching things up and tweaking bits here and there but I'll upload the newest version when there is one...

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the song, it was complete fun writing it!

Well after only a few days im REALLY happy to say that I got my first donation, and I have to say I feel it was VERY generous indeed! I dont know who you are but I would like to thank you very much, it helps me no end when I get anything these days and with every donation it means I can devote more time to making music and less time to standing on the street with my piece of cardboard saying "I'll do anything for money!"

I dont know what to add to this entry but im so estatic that someone took the time to do this I felt I had to make a blog entry to say this and to thank the person who did this!

Thanks once again and I hope to have more tunes ready soon which I hope people will like, and of course if you have a request for a style of song you might like me to write im always open to suggestions :)

Mart out.

Just gave my myspace account out to a few people and posted it in a couple places, not many people have heard my music yet so lets hope that changes :)

I have more songs but once I get the demand for them I'll post em.
