Well in my profile it says im not signed, its not entirely true so maybe I should explain.
As some people reading this might know, I moderate www.theisonews.com , while this site isnt illegal in any way shape or form, it IS a website dedicated to the discussion of the acts of piracy, however its impossible to find out where to download things and is purely for talking, I had a feeling this might give me problems with my music career one day, but I'll get back to this later.
So, I kind of "fell" into the music buissness, it turns out a friend of mine knew a record label owner and never told me (I wasnt really writing music at the time), however I ended up getting quite broke and was going to move to England, my friend didnt want this and suggested he speak to the label owner.
I was later contacted by the owner of the label and he asked if I could write some samples of music using chill out as a style as he had an idea, I went off and knocked some work up for him and when I passed this on he was REALLY happy, so happy in fact that he offered me a three album contract, each album being printed 30,000 times, of course only a fool would refuse this so I jumped at the chance.
Over a year has passed now and I have handed over an hour and a half of chill out music to my record label, and im glad to say they were VERY happy about the music I gave them, however after talking with the owner we decided that it was probably best that my name didnt go on the album for obvious reason.
So I've made three albums, but the shame of it is I'll never see any kind of fame from this as im not really allowed to publicly make the connection between me and my albums, and its still going to be sometime before I even see the fortune part ;) still its been a great learning experience and its a pretty big buzz to know that I managed this.....
So what are my plans next? Well I decided to take a step down from the music world and get into the slightly less crazy world of computer games, I've always been a great lover of games and feel my efforts would be very rewarding in that area, so currently my profiles status is correct when it says unsigned, but hopefully that wont be there too long ;) but one fact that I found out while doing this was from a friend, apparently the amount of albums that go into print are enough to get to number 1 in many European countries, however thats NOT going to happen because all 30k units for each album wont be moving at the same time, it was a mass press and will be sold over time, but if you live in the EU and you buy a new chill out album, it might well be me, props to anyone who can recognise my style! although I would appreciate if someone does to respect my obligations and not post it publicly ;) im sure you dont want me getting in trouble (OR DO YOU???)
I've had a couple offers of work but oddly these never worked out because my experience in the music industry doesnt count for the computer game industry which is kind of sad :( however, being the crazy fool I am, I decided it would be better to work for free than not to work at all so I emailed a company who had sent me back a REALLY nice reply explaining that they liked my music but had no kind of budget to "feed me" ;) I offered my services for free because it gives me experience and I felt the email I was sent was so nice that I should try and offer something back, only sent before this entry was made so no reply yet but I suspect they will take me up on the offer.
Anyway, If I end up working for a larger game company I'll be sure to make a blog about it.
Thanks as always for reading!
