I really can't express how fortunate I feel to be able to take part in the festival called Reggae Jam which takes place every year at the beginning of August in a little place in the North of Germany called Bersenbrueck which is quite near to where I live.

The festival had been voted BEST FESTIVAL by the Riddim-readers (me included!) and it still has a
family vibe to it even though it gets bigger every year. I am not sure how many thousands of people were there this year but all went smoothly and I saw lots of happy faces.

Here is my selection of photos that reflect how wonderful the festival was even though I didn't get to see and photograph every artist who was there and particularly not the sounds who played in the massive tent instead of a club building as in the past years.

Nuff big ups to all the wonderful artists and sounds who were all there in full force. Of course I have my favourites but I must say, all performances were outstanding! Many thanks to Sheriff and all crew who keep the festival running and getting better every year and not least to HoRo for keeping the link with me and the other lovely press people!

To find out more about the line-up please link up to the Reggae Jam website here or their myspace here. You can get the full effect of the slide shows directly on my slide here in full screen mode ;-).

Once again, congratulations to all on a well deserved win for:

Hard to believe but true: Reggae Nights celebrated 10 years of monthly parties and almost all the "old" crew and local sound systems turned out and helped to have the party rocking.

I was not aware of the regular parties in the beginning but have been taking pictures there regularly for about 5 years now so it is a kind of anniversary for me too! :-)

Dr Ring Ding came to play a wicked live DJ-show which is always a highlight and much fun.

Here are some pics of the night:

Thanks to everyone and hope to see you all again next time...

The 81st Reggae Nights took place at “Römer” in the Bremen. I didn’t stay long and therefore didn’t take too many pics. However, I tried out my new (small) camera and made a video but I am not really so good with the settings and the light was bad… Anyhow, now I can’t seem to upload it anywhere…. :-( - Anyway: Big up Roots Ashanti and Bassrock!

Reggae Nights are back at a new location. I must say, it was nice at Römer, a small club in the heart of the Bremen night life area. We all had a great time!

The guest sound SWS from Berlin added a bit of soca-flavour to the reggae which went down a treat with the Bremen massive.

Big ups to all the organisers!

The local Bremen sound called Bassrock has had their 5th anniversary and I was invited to take some pics. The evening was transferred to a club where I had not been before called Musik Klub at the last minute but lots of people still found it and passed through to congratulate the guys on the occasion.

Bassrock are: Nils (Selector), Jakob (Selector) and Hannes (MC) and you can link them here: http://www.myspace.com/bassrocksound

Toots was in Hamburg on May 20, 2009. I was with my son and late for the performance driving from Bremen after work. Sorry to say that I missed the opener Dr. Ring Ding. As we entered we heard Toots, the living legend! Of course we rushed forward to see that he was in great form again.

The venue, Fabrik in Hamburg, was sold out by the looks of it and Toots rocked the whole house as usual!

Come back soon, Toots! Loving the positive vibes!

Last year at ReggaeJam in Bersenbrueck, Germany I met Peter Hunnigale who was at the festival with The Riddim Works Band and Klearview Harmonix. They presented us all with a fabulous show and the next day I met Peter for a long chat after which we recorded the interview you can hear below.

As Peter said, he was happy to be there and it showed because as you can see from the photos he was watching and made a short stage appearance when Winston Francis played. We all had a great time.

This posting is a premier for me because I actually managed to mix some tunes and voice for the first time ever! … lol… Let me know what you think of it. I for one am proud because I never thought I could do it!  - There is a bit of noise mixed in with the talking from the festival going on in the background particularly at the end. Sorry about that but that is the "live factor" ...

As before I went to the local botanical gardens this year in April to capture some of my favourite flowers, magnificent magnolia! Well, perhaps I was distracted by my son or rushed after work before the sun set… I don’t know. I made all the mistakes I could… lol… Anyhow, some pics are ok and I would like to share them even though they are so much more beautiful in reality.

As you can see there are two types. One is a Japanese type which is kind of frilly the other one is the white type which is most common here. I tried to get both trees together...

I have so many photos and just sorting out some of them. Here are some I took of a band called Fireblack (after the Jamaican founder living in Bremen). We took them in a rush after work on a day in May just before the sun went down... mellow lighting. It was nice!

Let me know what you think!

I know it is nearly summer but I still had these pictures of a wonderful evening I enjoyed in Bersenbrück, the place where I usually go to the ReggaeJam festival in summer. One of the excuses for posting them nearly 6 months late is that I lost my harddrive and had to get it fixed. I won’t go on….

For those who were there: I thank you for the fun times and good music and also for making my son enjoy it, too! Big ups to Sheriff who put the event together and made everyone feel at home! :-)

Below is a short interview I did with Sebastian Sturm before the show. He is a very good performer.

While you check out the photos you could listen to one of the Feelgood shows he played on a new station on the internet called www.reggaewave.net. He is on that station every Tuesday at 9 pm UK. I was having a couple of problems recording it because it was buffering and my recorder cut out a few times, also sound is a little low at first… but it cyaah kill deh vibe!!!! :-))

I reached Birmingham on a glorious day where K.I.P. collected me, showed me round the town of Leicester a little and after a short stop over at the K.I.P. studio and the Feelgood kitchen was chauffeured to the Black Princess residency where some more people joined us before the dance and I later stayed until K.I.P. picked me up again in the morning to take me back to Birmingham airport.

I would like to thank K.I.P. for the rides and Kev I for my first cup of Scottish tea in the UK… lol, Mr Feelgood for making me feel good, Black Princess for putting up with me and the sweet and upcoming pro-photographer Shiniqua for lending me her room. Xtacey, Lady Feelgood, Wayne Lyrics, Kulture D, Shaka Zulu, DJ Bailey, Wanted and Sister Emma, Rootical Shasa and her friend, DJ 745, General Culture, Tommoranks (who looked after me on the night), Daddy D Bassline, Sista G, Mystique, Jerimiah, Digikal and his friend Reggae Rebel, Mama Funx, DJ Mixhoney, 3in1 and their brother Tony, Ladycoopz, Zorro, Bugsy and the Unique Supa Power crew, Scully, Debbie, Selvyn Wonder, Daddy Woody and last but not least their families and the whole of the Feelgood family and friends for making me feel so welcome. Love unnu badd!

Of course I am not happy with the pictures also because I feel I missed out a lot of the guests. But hopefully there will be a next time so I can make up for it and to get back on the vibe live and direct… :-))

Nuff love
Chrissie

PS.: I am playing back the Feelgood show pan ReggaeWave.net. Can't get enough!
