IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE BIG NEWS HERE IN THE DUNDERHOOD....
theofficechat.com just recently merged with netteslayouts.com
Now the two Office fan chat communities are one!
It's a great place to meet new Office Fans who have many of the same interests as you...
as well as a spot to rekindle old friendships with some Dunderheads you might not have seen in a while.
We plan to have many combined activities on both sites...
...so don't wait until the actual moment when something big happens to attempt logging-in at the last minute...
...because it takes a couple of minutes to register first.
So don't put it off until there's a contest already in progress, or until there's a celebrity in the chat room with us that you may want to speak with.
Register today, and save your username and password.
I know you'd want your Office Chat and forum experience to be the best experience possible, so I'm certain you'll understand our new security measures to curtail spammers.
I hope you won't mind the new measures.
You'll need time enough to verify your free registration to the chat/forum via your email with a verification reply from you. That only takes a short while. But if there's a big chat event going on, and you're trying to get in NOW... it may seem like an eternity!
This measure is to make certain that you are indeed a real person with a real email address that responds back. Spammers use auto-bots with fake addresses that don't reply back.
We need to separate the real Dunderheads from the auto-bots. We can no longer leave the forum open to the "wild wild west" free-for-all open access internet.
This is an Office Fan Community.
This small security measure will make all of our buddy-time experiences much more pleasureable.
As for the activities... We have an open chat on Thursdays where we can share our thoughts about the particular episode that just played that night. Fridays are for our Office Trivia Contest at (10 pm eastern 9pm central) (8pm mtn, 7pm pac)
In the "Off Season", during the summer..... Mondays are going to be MOVIE MONDAY's again. There'll be an NBC/Hulu Office vid posted just below the chat where we'll all start the video at the same time and follow the same timeline as we watch together simultaneously and then give our thoughts in the chat about each scene.
You know how people shuuussh you in the movie theaters for talking while the film is on? Well, on Movie Mondays, we encourage chatter while the Office episode is playing! LOL!
So register now!
Go to either netteslayouts.com to her chat page... or go to theofficechat.com and get started!!
As a Dunderhead here in the Internet Dunderhood... you'll be glad you did!
I'll see you soon gang!!
Take care!

Today I got sunburned staying outside staging my appointed sections of setting up this weekend's THUNDER IN THE VALLEY AIR SHOW in Columbus Georgia at the Metro Airport
These are some pics (NOT MY PICS THOUGH) from recent events there. I got a sneak peek at this year's upcoming shows and displays while I was setting up my end of the event. (Which technically is not an "end"....it's evreywhere throughout the airport)
I got to see the air acrobats do their warm up runs for tomorrow's shows. There'll be more on Sunday too.
I have bad allergies from the pollen blowing around... so besides being out in the direct sunlight all day and sunburning... I contended with lots of sneezing as well. I forgot to take Claritn today...
Today was clear, bright, sunny, and cloudless...
Perfect weather to set up an airshow... Except for the huge clouds of yellow pollen dust. AAAAAA CHOOOO!!
These Air Show pics aren't from this year's show, and they're not mine... But this year's show will be just about the same, so I'm posting the website's pics here to show you what kind of acts come to the show every year.
Here are those THUNDER IN THE VALLEY pic posts from various sources.....

I got to see Fifi. I got to crawl inside it, and stand over the bomb bay doors. And I crawled inside the cockpit.
I believe it's the last remaining B-29 bomber from WWII that can still operate normally in the air on it's own power.
It needs no special transport to get here... It just flies in on it's own power.
Fifi was used in many Hollywood movies about WWII's pacific campaign. Fifi was really used in real-life during WWII in raids over Tokyo and other Japanese Targets.
Canada's "SNOWBIRDS"!! AWESOME!
----------------------------------
NOW HERE'S MY OWN PICS!
___________________________
Okay, the next set of pics are the one's that I took last night. These were of my sneak preview of the new NATIONAL INFANTRY MUSEUM here in Columbus, Georgia / Fort Benning It's located in "Patriot Park", which is a new facility that's located half inside the Columbus City Limits, and the other half inside the Fort Benning Military Reservation. The two communities are adjoining. There's no dividng line.... it's just blends together as a civilian and military partnership. Something we know how to do well in Columbus because we've always been a loyal Army town.
the New Restaurant! Not a cafeteria! Sit down gourmet meals, on fine linens and prepared by a chef and a huge staff. They're ready to entertain visiting families who come visit when they view their child's military graduation ceremonies in the adjoining Parade Field.
I can't wait until the rest of the museum opens! It's like it belongs to the smithsonian or something. It's very incredible.
The IMAX movie was bone rattling. The restaurant had a chef that pampered me and my Mom. It was awesome! Can't wait to see the rest of it when they finish in June.
Oh, and the whole building had that "New Car" smell...lol!
My pictures inside the IMAX didn't turn out right. Neither did the one's in the new Restaurant (run by Houlihans chain but with a different name) I saw the reception hall earlier while setting up events, but I didn't have my camera until I went back later and took my Mom with me. These pics are well after everyone left.
The Museum section itself will open in June. I expect I'll probably be busy then as well setting up events. Actually, perhaps we can set up events there from now on. Army Units always hold renunions. From WWII Vets to Vietnam Vets to IRAQ vets... The reception areas will always host army reunions and other occaisions. So the grand opening's will not be the last phone calls we get.

Actor Sam Elliot was the Emcee who narrated the Sacred Soils ceremony that I mentioned on my last blog. He was asked becuase of his ties to other Fort Benning projects, plus he filmed the movie We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson here in Fort Benning. The Movie was about Hal Moore and his unit in Vietnam who were a Fort Benning Combat unit. To make the true story truly authentic, Mel Gibson and cast came here to film the movie on the actual real life sites where the true events took place. So actor Sam Elliot narrated the Sacred Soil ceremony I told you about in the last blog.. That's where soil from hallowed battlefields around the world was spread over the Parade field. The Sacred Soil that was dusted onto the parade field during yesterday's solemn dedication ceremony came from famous battlefields of the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, and more.
000000000000000000000 Here's a news article in today's local paper, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer:Infantry Museum Opens at Benning March 20, 2009 Columbus Ledger-Enquirer
FORT BENNING, Ga. -- Thousands gathered Thursday at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park in Columbus, Georgia and Fort Benning to pay tribute to the 234-year legacy of the United States Infantry. At the center of the celebration -- which marked the opening of major portions of the mammoth military museum -- were the young men of B Company, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment. More than 3,000 spectators witnessed approximately 140 infantry school soldiers march into history as the first graduates to tread upon Soldier Field, which had been dusted with soil collected from the battlefields of eight pivotal wars in infantry history. The day's events also included an air show, the dedication of 2nd Regiment Gallery by Harry Gray -- the largest individual donor to the museum -- and the dedication of the Korean War Gallery by retired Gen. Sun Yup Paik. The Soldier Center -- which includes a 292-seat IMAX theater, the Fife and Drum Restaurant and the Soldier Store -- opened to the public at 5 p.m. Thursday, though the museum's exhibits won't be ready for viewing until June 19. Expectations exceeded Guest speaker Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin Hill, the senior enlisted adviser to Gen. David Petraeus, who was top U.S. commander in Iraq, shared with the graduates a message from his boss. "Be proud of what you've accomplished and never, never stop learning," he said. "You've increased your capacity to incorporate new tactics, techniques and procedures into your ruck sack and never stop filling it up. Because it's one of those stored items that may one day save your life or that of a brother. We are an Army at war and you can never be too prepared." Between the earth-shaking aerial demonstration, the tear-jerking Sacred Soil Ceremony and the humbling presence of military heroes, distinguished honor graduate Pfc. Evan P. Gallagher, 21, of Stafford, Va., said the ceremony far exceeded his expectations. "We didn't really understand the importance of exactly what was going on probably until about two days ago when we started rehearsals," Gallagher said. "And then sitting here today just seeing the fact that, that is the soil from all these major battles ... how important they were, how we got to where we were today because of those major battles. The fact that I'm now joined in the ranks of those when I've always been on the sidelines just reading about it. It's something else." Honor graduate Spc. Allen Bridgeman, 28, said he didn't quite grasp the significance of his role in Thursday's ceremony until moments before he stepped onto the parade field. "The ceremony was awesome," Bridgeman said. "I don't really think it hit us until we showed up earlier and saw the helicopters flying overhead. And it started putting some of our war games into thought. The significance of what we're about to try to go do, and then being in the presence of people who are veterans of doing the things that we've dreamed of doing. It was awesome." Spc. Bridgeman's parents, Yvonne and Sam Bridgeman, came from Houston to see their son graduate. "It's totally awesome," Yvonne Bridgeman said. "Just seeing these guys who have volunteered to take care of us. It's cool." Sacred soil The Sacred Soil Ceremony featured descendants of notable patriots, such as Alexander Hamilton, Theodore Roosevelt and Alvin York as well as infantry war heroes, such as Lt. Gen. Hal Moore and Command Sgt. Maj. Basil Plumley as soil spreaders. Actor Sam Elliott, who portrayed Plumley in the movie "We Were Soldiers," narrated the ceremony. Later in the afternoon, Elliott tried to describe the experience: "In a nutshell, overwhelming on some level, certainly I'm honored and proud to be part of it." Retired Maj. Gen. Jerry White, chairman of the National Infantry Foundation, said he awoke Thursday morning knowing it would be an emotional day for him. The soil ceremony alone was enough to bring tears to his eyes. "I did cry because if you think about what that really means and I tell people that I'm sure that in that soil there's some blood of Americans there, and it's very meaningful. Not just today, but it will be forever as long as we graduate soldiers on that field. It'll be there." Dirk Kempthorne, great-grandson of Pvt. Charles Kempthorne of the 3rd Wisconsin Infantry, who was a wounded Union soldier at Antietam, was one of just a handful of soil spreaders. The former secretary of Interior, governor and senator from Idaho called the experience "a great honor" and "very emotional." "When you think of national treasures, you have to think of these infantryman and for them on their graduation day to now cross this soil of sacrifice and valor of all those comrades in arms that went before them, it has to inspire them. So this is a good day for America," Kempthorne said. Pvt. Jeremiah Nazworth, 24, of Virginia, did not have the words to describe how he felt while marching across Soldier Field with his company. "It's indescribable. I'm carrying on a legacy for my family," he said. "Getting better things for my family, my kids, my wife. It's just, there's no way to describe it." Tears swelled in the eyes of Theodore Roosevelt IV -- grandson of Theodore Roosevelt Jr., who earned the Medal of Honor on D-Day -- as he described how he felt while scattering the sandy earth on which his grandfather fought on June 6, 1944. "Well, first of all it's very moving and we're commemorating the service that American soldiers have done on behalf of our country," Roosevelt said. "And we saw today another company that was inducted into the Army, and that's moving. And I'm very proud to see what we are doing today, recognizing our military and how important they are in our lives." The 185,000-square-foot museum is located on Fort Benning Boulevard on a 200-acre tract linking the Home of the Infantry -- Fort Benning -- and Columbus. The National Infantry Foundation has raised approximately $91 million for the estimated $100 million project. END OF ARTICLE. Source: Columbus Ledger-Enquirer March 20, 2009
Working on this event has been quite an honor. Plus, I get to go back as many times as I wish as a visitor! And this place isn't just a building that house's artifacts. The people you meet in-person are part of our country's living history. So you are emmersed deeply in a very personal emotional experience. It's very touching.
Those who didn't see the Museum's pre-construction fund raiser promo video, here it is again:
This video was made before it was built. It was just a dream then. But as you can see from my new photos from last night, this dream actually came true. It's took millions in donations, and sponsorships..but it all came together.
I realize that building a facility that honors our troops won't get Spring Breakers to stop by on their way through here as they buzz by the highway on their way to Panama City. But for what it was intended, it's the best it can possibly be, and it'll be served well. The regular visiting families of Fort Benning's weekly graduation ceremonies alone will keep the place hopping.
Plus, the cenventioneers.
Plus locals..
And Fort Benning's families & friends.
The old National Infantry Museum that was located on Fort Benning's MAIN POST was very popular for years. It always got foot traffic.
So much so that that this new facility was the solution for improvement & expansion. So we know ahead of time that this facility will succeed. It already has in the past.
I love it!
It's like taking a trip to Washington D.C. without leaving home!
It was so much fun! And very moving as well!
Well, I gotta get up early tomorrow!
More Air Show events to stage!
I'll try to bring my camera this time!
See ya soon gang!
