Hello Everyone!

So I was picked as one of the Top 10 finalists in this songwriting contest.  The objective was to write the theme song for a cruise that is to sail out of Miami in late February, and the winner gets a free slot on the cruise, and a chance to perform.  They will announce the winner on December 1st, but for now, I NEED YOUR VOTE!

Follow the link below, set up an account, and vote for me where you see my picture and the song titled "On My Way".  You can vote once a day, so feel free to make it a regular stop for the next 2-3 weeks.  Thanks everyone, and wish me luck!!  Oh, and don't forget to send this to your friends, and Amy Gerhartz supporters!

Current mood:  excited

Here is a video of my little sister singing a song she wrote about Jane Fonda - dedicated to all of those who fought in the Vietnam War.  She sang this in front of the Rolling Thunder crowd in Washington DC.  She's only 17, and already taking after her big sister!

I'm so proud of you Emily!!!

Lyrics:

A Walk
We'll go on walking
We'll do some talking
Just Jane and I
Just Jane and I

We'll see those names
Oh those sacred names
And then she'll see
Just what she's done

And all the burdens they had to bare
They look at her now
Those sad eyes stare

And they'll say
Oh Jane can't you see
We fought for you and we set them free
And we'll push on through
No matter what it takes
Oh Jane please be true
To that grand old flag
The red, white and blue
Oh Jane why you

When you crossed that line
Oh that border line
It makes us wonder who our enemy is now
Oh we know your views
They love what you choosed
Oh can't you see what you did just won't do

Oh the hate, oh Jane, you caused
Don't you realize that you lost

And they'll say
Oh Jane can't you see we fought for you and we set them free and we'll push on through no matter what it takes
oh Jane please be true to that grand old flag
The red, white and blue
Oh Jane why you

We'll see those names
Oh those sacred names
And then she'll see
Just what she's done
Oh Jane Why You

Current mood:  artistic
Category: Music

As an artist, I hear a lot of music - all different styles, all different skill levels...obviously.  But it seems to be more so on the rare end that I get to hear, meet, and be friends with an artist who's music makes me jump out of my seat.

Keaton Simons is a rare breed.  His vocals are rough and sexy,  his lyrics are emotional and from the heart, and his music is constantly inspiring me to make mine that much better.  Keaton is not only an amazing musician and songwriter, but he's also one of the most kind hearted and down to earth people that I am proud to say I know.   This boy is definitely going places, and hopefully I'll be fortunate enough to be there with him.

His album "Can You Hear Me" drops today.

Get it.  Soak it in.  Enjoy it.

Hey everyone!

There are only a handful of copies left of my first 2004 CD "The Uphill Climb".

Make sure you order yours TODAY from my myspace page to ensure that you get one. Once they are gone, they are gone. We are focusing on the new album now and won't be making any more of the old for a while.

Much love and take care,

Anyone interested in hearing some of the new album??

I've uploaded some new acoustic tracks to my page.  Not so sure how well they'll play, but they should give you an idea of what to expect for the next album!!!!

Enjoy!

Hello All!

I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in helping my gal-pals and I hand out Amy Gerhartz promo material on The Rock Boat this year.  Any takers??  Any helpers can have a free copy of my first album "The Uphill Climb", accompanied by sincere gratitude and a warm hug!

You can find me on the boat pretty much jamming out with my fellow musician friends and being auctioned off for charity...yes, you read correct:

Jan. 22nd at 6pm at the Atrium I, Amy Gerhartz, will be one of the two Bachelorettes auctioned off for the NUTS charity event.

Also, make sure you check out my recommended musicians/friends on the boat:

Gareth Asher
Zac Brown
Andy Davis
Keaton Simons
John Hopkins
Sons of William

If you know of anyone else worthy of ear time, feel free to add on to my list, as I'm sure there are many more amazing artists on board!

12 days and counting...

Amy

Hello Everyone,

Figured I'd give you an update on all that is going on with me.  Currently finishing up the scratch tracks to my new album!  So far everything is going very well and I'm having the time of my life.  Ryan (my producer) is in the next room right now setting up the microphone to record all the vocals, so I'll have to make this email pretty short.  I leave for Hawaii in 2 days and will be there for the next 6 weeks!  Will be spending lots of time with my brother, sister, and my new nephew. Don't worry, I'll send pictures :)

Two exciting things that have happened:

1)  I cut my hair off!  It was just getting too long; see picture below:

and 2)  I have started working with/selling Mary Kay to help support my music!  It is one of the few full/part-time jobs that I can do from anywhere in the country, so it only makes sense to make some extra cash while working on my album.

Just to let you know, Mary Kay is much more than old ladies and hot pink lipstick!  We've got tons of new and great products for men AND women, so if you are interested or need anything, or just plain want to help out, visit the link below:

Hope all is well and keep in touch!

Much Love,

Amy Gerhartz

Hey Everyone,

I have cancelled all of my upcoming Virginia shows due to a family emergency. Thanks so much for everyone who was planning to come out, and I will make it up to you in the future.

Everyone is safe and well and thanks again for all your support!

Current mood:  exhausted

Wow, the last couple of weeks have been a complete whirlwind of activity.  So sorry for the delayed update!  I've pretty much worn myself into exhaustion from driving back and forth between New York, Virginia and Atlanta, so I'm going to make this pretty brief and send more updates (with pictures!!) later.

Atlanta was amazing.  I had so much fun, and a great response, playing shows down there.  Eddie's Attic and Smith's Olde Bar were extremely kind to me, so keep your fingers crossed for more shows there in the future.

Would also like to say thanks to Famous Pub, Tin Lizzy's, Milton's, Amore, Brio, Moon Dog's, and The Flagship for letting me perform. Hopefully you'll be seeing more of me J

Oh, and to Martha Clara Vineyards, Lana and Andy for allowing me to participate in a wonderful film festival.

The album is coming along.  I head back to Atlanta again in another week to do more recording and play more shows.  Long story short, this "mini-tour" may actually turn into a full-time tour, with me relocating my home base to Atlanta.

I love New York, and definitely see myself coming back here one day, but if I'm going to make a career out of this, doing something I love, then I need to be in an area that supports what I do both musically AND financially.  So sometime in the next couple of month, I am planning to relocate to Atlanta, and travel back and forth to Virginia, New York, and hopefully other new places as well!!

Right now I'm in my apartment in Brooklyn looking at a pile of chaos that needs to be organized and put into boxes.  I love the excitement of moving, I just hate the actual grunt work.

My current schedule looks like this:

July 9-11 – New York

July 12-14 – Virginia

July 15-17 – New York

July 18 – Virginia

July 19 through August 13 – Atlanta

August 14 through September 2 – Virginia/North Carolina

September 3 through October 5 – Hawaii

October…???

Whew.

Going to go now.  I'm tired.

Much love,

Amy
