Current mood:  nostalgic

Well now my friends, this blog post has been brewing and stirring for quite some time.  I want to take a stroll down memory lane for a moment.

Let's step back to 2004, the year that The Cruciatus Curse was born.  In 2004 we released "The Dark Mark", our very first Wizard Rock CD.  Now Wizard Rock in 2004 was just begining and the Harry Potter fandom was starting to fully explode.  At the time that The Cruciatus Curse began, there were a few other Wizard Rock bands who had been doing shows and putting out CD's, these are great bands and they should all be congradulated in one form or another.  Now in 2002, two years before our journey began, Harry and the Potters had started doing shows and quitely ushered in the Wizard Rock Age.  We as Wizard Rockers do owe a thing or two to HatP, so to them I will say thank you.

By now I am sure most of you are wondering where this is going, then again maybe not, but we will get to it I promise.

Now fast forward to 2006 when Wizard Rock was starting to pick up steam and Dark Wizard Records was going along almost smoothly. Well I was gonna go there, but I have talk about and talked about and talked about Dark Wizard Records and the "legacy" that will undoubtably follow myself in Wizard Rock, but DWR was a time in my life and a time in Wizard Rock, so I had to mention it.

Now on to 2007, January to exact, and the release of our second album "The Riddle of Potions". I really enjoyed this album and it showed a growth in my musical writing and producing, but all the music and lyrics were my own and I hold them dear. Also in 2007 I announced that I would release four (4) CD's that year, and with one already down, I was on my way. So in February I released "The Four Thestrals of the Apocalypse", and that album marked the return of Joe adding vocals to a few tracks. In July of 2007 I attempted my first concept album, and it turned out great. "The Life and Times of Tom Marvolo Riddle" was the first CD that I did collaborations on. This album featured fellow Wizard Rockers The Sectumsepras, Voldemort, WZRD, The Hinky Punks and EJ threw some vocals on for me as well. Then in December, well the end of the year actually (31st), I released "Straight Outta Hogwarts", my first Hip-Hop type album and my first Parody/Filk songs. I had remade Draco and the Malfoys "Party Like Your Evil", The Whomping Willows "Your Flying Car" and The Remus Lupins "Battle At The Ministry". This album also marked the first collab with The Curse Breakers on "Power of Love" (Awesome song by the way) and my first album to appear on iTunes. Thus ended a very contriversal 2007, but I did fulfill my promise and delivered four CD's in one calendar year.

So we are on to 2008 and The Cruciatus Curse still has not played a single show live yet, but that was about to change...enter "The Reading Is The Weapon Tour"! In April we kicked off our very first tour, with my very first show, and it all happened in my favorite city in the world...Orlando, FL. During this show I released "Wizard Rock 101", my sixth album overall and my first album of 2008. The concert in Orlando was one of the best times I ever had. I was so scared that I forgot lyrics to songs and my computer died during my last song, but yet the Wrock Fans still cheered me on and I loved it! A huge THANK YOU goes out to my wife, Katherine, for her support and the other bands who performed that night: Mirror of Erised, The House of Black, Witherwings and Fred Lives! And that was just the begining of 2008 for me. In May of 2008 I released my seventh cd "The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore", which was an exclusive parody album, and led the way for, what was to be my final album. "Epilogue" was released during the Wisconsin kick-off to the RITW Tour in August which ended with Wrock Chicago on August 5th. Wrock Chicago was the top of the mountain for me. We shared the stage with some of the greatest Wizard Rock bands in our history. We made alot of good friends and I thought that it would be a good to lay The Cruciatus Curse to rest. But as fate would have it, Joe (who had done a few songs on prior albums) accompanied me to Wrock Chicago and performed with me, and he fell in love with Wizard Rock also, so my plans to step aside where shelved.

Joe and I sat down and wrote the upcoming ninth album "CSI: Hogwarts", and put alot of heart into it, and we mixed it up alot also. The upcoming CD also is the first time that Joe is on almost every song, very cool. The album will once again drop during the Reading Is The Weapon Tour II kick-off in Orlando on March 27th 2009.

So I am guessing by now you are wondering where this is all going, well here it is:

On June 13th 2009 we will be releasing our TENTH and final CD properly entitled "X". And the reason I announce this now is because this community has done so much for me. My last two children, Ravyn and Stryker, were born when I was a Wizard Rocker, and they have grown up with Wizard Rock. I will be pouring my heart and soul into this final CD and into this final tour. We are doing big shows in Green Bay at WrockCon, in Chicago and in New York, but my very last show will be in the city that started it all, Orlando, and it will be during the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now there is no show, as of yet, that is set up, but believe me I will do my final performance on the opening day of the park, even if I have to stand in an alley and do my set.

Now the reason I will be hanging up my mic is because I have given everything that I have these last 4 years and in 2010 when the park opens and my last show begins I will have been in Wrock for 5 years. I will be taking time to spend every waking moment with my children, even more then now which might annoy them, and concentrate on my family and writing books and movies, which I have begun. I want to thank every fan that I have ever had, THANK YOU. I want to thank everyone that had listened to and like my music, it was because of you guys that my dream became reality. I want to thank everyone who as listened to my music and hated it and told me they hated it, it is because of you that my music has grown and matured. I want to thank everyone who has put me down and told my I could do anything, you gave the fuel to keep going and look where I went, I have released 10 albums, which people have paid their hard earned money to buy, I have played shows in various cities around the United States of America, and I have made thousands of friends in a community that cares for one another and supports one another. And again to the people who put me down and said that I could do anything...What have you done?

Again thank you from the bottom of my heart, I love you all!

HP-Wisconsin (HP-WI) proudly announces

Wrock Con 2009!

The event was supposed to take place last year in Little Chute, WI and was known as "Welcome To Hogsmead", but had run into problems. We now have a new name for the event, a new theme, and a new place!

Please check our website www.wrockcon.com for band updates and other info.

If anyone can volunteer or help setup for the mini convention, please let me know.

Also  we still need FanArt to display in Diagon Alley (yes you can sell)
We still need FanFiction to be read to the crowd.  Also we still have room for more Wrock Bands to play.  So please message me ASAP as I need to finalize everything as soon as I can!

Thank you all,

Current mood:  relieved
I want to thank everyone for their support! It means so much to us! Stryker is home now and getting better by the day. He had tubes put in his ears on Tuesday and a MRI on Wednesday. They said he coulda went home on Christmas, but he wasn't keeping anything down and was throwing up flem, but we were able to come home friday afternoon, and he is much more happy to be at home.

On the flip side, exciting news in the world of The Cruciatus Curse.
We would like to welcome Bruce to our family. Some of you may know him from his other Wizard Rock band, The Mirror Of Erised, and we hope you listen to that also! Bruce will be doing the backing music for most of the songs from here on out! Very exciting! We have already done 2 songs, "Walk Alone" and the brand new up on player today "Break Out". "Break Out" is a little different then anything I have ever done... it is full fledged COUNTRY MUSIC. Now I don't have a country voice, nor do I try to do it that way, but I wanted to give it a try and put up some different songs. For some reason Myspace is not letting my song be downloadable or able to be added, so I am trying to work with them on that, but in the meantime check out the BRAND NEW PROFILE!!!! We have a new layout for the website as well (cruciatuscurse.com) We have Ringtones, new Merch, and more you can find on the new Myspace Layout CHeck it out!!!

We heard from the doctors that Strykers MRI was good and that they think he should be able to go home tomorrow, on Christmas.  This is great news as they didn't find any tumors or anything like that.  So I am very relived and excited to bring him home.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and great comments and emails.  I am very greatful to all.  Thank you all so much.  I joined this community over 4 years ago, and we have all had ups and downs, but we stand together and push on.

Thank you,

Denni & the rest of the Family!
Wednesday, December 24, 2008

On monday night, I had to take my youngest son, Stryker, into the ER because the right side of his face was drooping.  They ran a bunch of tests, including a CAT scan.  They figured it must be from a massive infection from a ear infection pushing on his nerves in his face.  On tuesday they decided to put tubes in both of his ears and help relieve the pressure.  The surgery went well and he was in good spirits.  Today, Christmas Eve, we were told that they would like to keep him in the hospital for a couple more days and were going to run a MRI on his head to make sure the pressure wasn't coming from a Tumor or something like that.  So Stryker must spend his first christmas in the hospital, and our other children, Talon, Drake & Ravyn, must also spend Christmas in the hospital with us.  It is a very hard time right now, and I feel so angry and upset about this whole situation.  Our family could use some prayer or whatever you do, but please think about us and hope that everything turns out good.

thank you all,

denni
