Current mood: excited
I'm set to do my thing at the Bash at the Brickyard this NYE (6550 N. Fullerton, Chicago, IL), along with DJ Vinnie N and DJ Explode...going to be pretty interesting. I haven't done a NYE party for a few years, so it ought to be fun.
As for the name change; I've finally seen Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible's Musical Blog," and I haven't seen anything so funny in a long time! Big props to the Whedon bros, Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris! So, in honor of the film and because it's such a cool name, I'm calling myself DJ Bad Horse (not for long). But the name also is coming from the concept; like a shot of "bad horse," once you get my grooves under your skin, they never let you go!

Current mood: enlightened
So, the Chicago Earthdance event was this past Saturday...the crowd was not as big as one might have hoped for, but considering the fact that the Chicago area was damn near submerged because of the fringe effect of "Ike," it was a good turnout.
As for the event itself, it was very refreshing to spin at an event where it was about the people who were there and the energy, rather than more "shallow" concerns that you usually find at a party. Everyone there had a good time (including me), the floor stayed active, and the live performances were great. I'll post the pictures for them a bit later.
Blessings and respect to SheBoom, Funky Skunk, Alexander Duvel, and the rest of the performers at the event. I am honored and privileged to have been part of this with you all! And blessings to Hazel G'Aura for orgainzing this and may all the good you have done return to you and yours six-fold!
I felt and still feel very good about being a part of Earthdance and I would like to continue to be involved in future events and perhaps other similar events. It was very cool to be a part of something that was and is bigger than just "the music," or "the party." My efforts went to serve something greater than all of us as individuals and I feel redeemed as a DJ, a performer, and most importantly, a person for having been a part of this.

I'm still coming down from this past weekend!
I got to be at one hell of a party this weekend and mad respect to all of the fans and the DJs who threw down at the set!
DJ Amaya- he put down the J-dance and the crowd lost their mind!
DJ Jon "Suge-lite" Sugerman- always a consummate performer and showman.
DJ Outastyle- he worked the crowd into a frenzy and set them up for this next DJ....
DJ HeavyGrinder- OMG!!!! Nothing but love and respect for this amazing performer! The crowd lost themselves in her groove and it was a sight to see!!!
Greg Ayres- the crowd loved his set as usual and he never fails to please.
DJ NameLoc- an amazing set, he pumped energy into a late-night crowd and kept the energy at an amazing peak!
DJ OPM- he pulled a WTF with this set and the crowd went berserk!
The fans were amazing and we took this thing to the next level!

Current mood:Charged-up!!!
Last August, I organized a mix show on the station. JMJ, DJ OPM, and I got on the tables and went sickhouse on the airwaves. We got a ton of call-ins and a lot of positive feedback from listeners. I just got the okay to do another one. However, this time, I'm getting two Fridays this time- Dec 23 & 30! All that is left is to get the talent secured for the night.... If you are reading this, you are a house-head, you live in Chicago, and you can get WHPK (88.5FM), then you should give us a serious listen! More later....

Current mood: creative
I've been so damn busy this summer! For somebody without a regular gig, I've been up to my armpits with projects and other crap. Now before I go any further, I have to say that I do enjoy summer. It's when I get to have Brandi around me nearly all of the time. Okay, no more gushing and waxing poetic about married folks stuff. Anyway, the two projects that I'm working on are the "Black/White Unity" track and my RPG book. I hope to have both done before the end of the summer. Right now, I'm pressing on the RPG project, trying to get something together before GENCON. I've got a couple of ideas as well, for a few other game publishers. Hopefully, I can get a bite or two with a few of them. By the way, can a brother get a residency somewhere in this city of mine? I just stepped away from writing this blog to answer the door. A professional pal of mine, Andy S, came by to return my DJ gear after using it for the weekend. He had to do the sound for a show featuring DJ Dirty Sanchez and Vanilla Ice and they needed some gear for it. As it turned out, Sanchez autographed the tables for me, which is pretty cool! Had I been thinking, I would have "accidently" left a couple of my mix cds in the deck...a brother's gotta get discovered somehow. Anyway I plan on heading to the Family Den tonight to hear my guy, Leonard Part Sixx do his thang on the decks. What's real cool is that the place is within walking distance from my house...however, I still plan on driving. Nuff said for now. Holla at a brother, if you have some good words for me! Love and serenity!
