Cooking bedroom es obra de Simó y Gloria. Su forma de componer es curiosa. Como ya contaba en otra entrada, Simó tiene un montón de letras escritas, pero también prueba progresiones de acordes continuamente.
Gloria suele ser la encargada de hacer lo obvio: conectar sus letras con sus acordes. Así, va improvisando melodías de voz usando alguna de las letras disponibles y cantando sobre los acordes, hasta que salen con algo que les convence.
Es genial cuando ellos hacen todo el trabajo sucio de composición y Marina y yo sólo tenemos que ayudarles a darle forma en la grabación J .
En este caso, primero grabaron una prueba de guitarra y voz para que yo pudiera hacerme una de idea de la melodía, estructura, etc. Así pude grabar la batería y el bajo para después dar paso a los demás Marlovers y dejarles hacer su magia.
Como siempre, la canción la arreglamos mientras grabamos, prácticamente sin ensayarla antes. A veces parece que las canciones están vivas y crecen ante nosotros, incontrolables, convirtiéndonos en simples observadores. Nos encanta esa sensación de sorprendernos con nuestras canciones mientras las grabamos; por eso, en mi opinión, si nos pensáramos demasiado la canción antes de grabar, nuestro trabajo no sería tan divertido, y creo que el resultado sería mucho más rígido y menos fresco.
Me gusta mucho el resultado final, pero esta canción irradia una energía especial cuando la tocamos en directo con Eugenio aporreando la batería como un loco…

Cooking bedroom was written by Simó and Gloria. They have a funny way of writing songs. As I said in the last entry, Simó has written a lot of lyrics, but he is also continuously trying new chord progressions.
Gloria is often the Marlover who does the obvious thing: connect his lyrics and chords. This way, she improvises vocals over one of the available lyrics and chord progressions, until something they like pops up.
It's great when they do all the dirty writing work and Marina and me only have to assist them at the recording process J
In this case, they first recorded a guitar and voice test so I could figure out the basic melody, structure, etc. Then I could record drums and bass and let the other Marlovers do their magic J
As always, we arranged the song while recording, without previous rehearsals. Sometimes it seems the songs are alive and grow up alone before our eyes, uncontrollable, as if we were simply observers. We love to be suprprised by our own songs while recording; that's why, in my opinion, if we worked the song too much before that, our "job" wouldn't be so funny, and I think the result wouldn't be as fresh as it is.
I like a lot the final result, but this song irradiates a special energy when played live with Eugenio's crazy drumming…
And yes, the vocoder in the bridge is a caprice of mine J
