The new cd from Margin of Error is here!  It is being described as "A menacing, murderous, masterpiece" for a reason.  This full length dives into the personal thoughts and actions of a serial killer.  "The murderer started as a character, but shortly after I started with the concept, I had a hard time separating this individual from myself, Travis stated.  It was like I became this killer, and it was disturbingly comfortable."  Think of it as you find a suspicious video tape, put it in your vcr and it reveals the most heinous murders from the perspective of a killer.  Margin of Error has captured a car-crash like atmosphere that you can't tear your eyes and ears away from.

What You Are About To Witness

Margin of Error has always stood for bold creative ideas.  When going into the studio a few months back we wanted to create the heaviest record that we could.  The result was our upcoming full length What You Are About To Witness.  Right now there is an unmastered version of the titled track on the player.  Many of you are enjoying, some of you are not.  I could have fed people something similar to our past work and not ruffled feathers, but that's not what Margin of Error is about. We always create what we want to, and we will always create things that will be a challenge for us.  I love having the ability to strike such a reaction within other people.  That's how I know that we did an amazing job.  If you're not getting some hate mail, you're not making an impact.

Like any good artist that I respect, you must dare to be hated before greatness is achieved.  That's the whole idea behind art in general.  This album is the most destructive, dynamic, hate filled work we have ever done, and we're fucking proud of it.  This is only the tip of the iceberg.  More tracks are coming soon, along with the new Video Blog, album artwork and much more.

You're just a witness, these are the days of worth.

Art is dangerous indeed.

It's been one year since the release of our full length "Destroy.Create.Repeat." and it is now easier than ever for you to own.  With the rough economy, we have decided to sell this cd for more than half off the regular price!  You can now own DCR for only $5.00!  Everyone who has purchased this cd knows this is an absolute steal.

Take advantage of this deal because this will not be around long.  It's possible we could sell out of these discs forever with this sale, so make sure you pick one up now.

Enjoy.

What made you start writing music, and in this style?

I actually fell into writing music completely by accident. I have always
thought of myself as a visual artist first. I grew up wanting to become
a filmmaker. After attending college for film, I was forced to make a
choice between this band and film school and I ultimately chose this
band. I found a lot of satisfaction in this creative outlet and thought
I could implement a lot of my visual ideas into it.

How would you explain Margin of Error's sound to someone who has never heard the music?

Margin of Error is like someone laying on a blank canvas and swallowing a grenade.

What is your inspiration for writing?

For our last record, “Destroy.Create.Repeat.” I wanted to capture the idea
of the creative process. For me it was what goes through an artists
head when trying to create. I wanted to really project those thoughts
outward so people could kind of crawl inside the head of an artist. The
creative process is dangerous. Art in general is dangerous. It taps
into a lot of areas of the mind that most won’t admit that you have.
DCR is a very negative record and tells the story of an artist who
loses complete control. The artist in the story blurs the line between
reality and his work, and I think everything turned out really well. I
wanted to display that in the most unrelenting way possible.

Lately I have been writing for an upcoming release for 2009.

Everyone has a "first band", what was the name of yours and what was it like?

Actually Margin of Error was my first band.

Do any of the songs have any attachment to you?

Absolutely.  I care a lot about the songs that I have been a part of creating. I
think the title track, “Destroy.Create.Repeat.”, I feel the most attached
to due to it capturing my mindset and the cycle fully. In this track
the artist finally loses control and blurs the lines of his work and
reality completely.

What is the craziest thing that has happened on tour?

Touring is like walking into a circus sideshow everyday. There are so many
things that happen in a short amount of time that you forget the
majority of events. I will share a story though. When we were leaving
from a show in Chicago this past fall we were driving and stopped at a
stoplight in downtown. We saw a lady acting really weird on the
sidewalk next to us. She was dancing/shaking and what not. We wondered
what was up, and then she pulled a needle out of her pocket and shot up
some heroin in her ankle right there on the sidewalk. Ridiculous really.

What is the worst thing about touring?

The worst thing about touring is the complete lack of basic comforts. There
are days you have hardly any time to eat or sleep with the amount of
driving between shows. It’s rough out there, and if you don’t stick to
your schedule even more things will go wrong. Touring is hard work, end
of story.

Who would you like to share the stage with?

Honestly I would like to play with a lot of different bands. I actually would
rather play with heavier acts at all times. I like the violent crowds,
and I think we feel right at home there.

Is there any crazy superstitions before shows?

I don’t really have any superstitions other than the normal rituals of
setup. I do tend to pace a lot right before a performance, not because
I’m nervous, but it helps me focus my adrenaline a bit.

Where was your favorite venue to play at, and why?

There has been a ton of venues that I have enjoyed for different reasons.
Some nights I like to play really small venues and that contains that
intimate element with fans. If I had to pick a favorite venue, I would
probably say St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, Michigan. Just a really nice
and history filled venue.

Is there ever a moment where you wish you were pursuing an art form other than music?

Many people actually ask me this and I would have to say no. My other
passion for visuals and film I have seemed to utilize inside of this
project. This band is far from just a music outlet, and that’s what
makes us such a unique experience.

I know another form of art you appreciate is painting, are your muses the
same for music? Do you take the same approach to creating them?

I would definitely say that I am inspired by similar things when I am
creating with different medias, but the approach is always different. I
like to paint sometimes when I get writers block. It sometimes helps
pull my mind in a different direction. I haven’t painted in awhile
though as I have had my head submerged in some new songs.

Any talk of touring soon?

Offers are always getting put in front of us. We were just asked to go out
with Bella Morte, but we really want to fully concentrate on this
upcoming release. This does not mean touring isn’t right around the
corner regardless. I really think once we hit the road this year it
really isn’t going to stop for awhile. So everyone who has been like
“when are you coming to my city?” or “we missed you when you came
through last time” can rest assured that you will have plenty of
chances to catch us live soon.

Can we look forward to hearing a new album?

Absolutely.  It’s only been about a year after the release of
“Destroy.Create.Repeat.”, but we are hard at work on a release. I
really don’t want to kick around release dates at the moment, but I
will say you will see it drop sooner rather than later. Fans can look
forward to more frequent blog updates in the near future. These new
songs are going to completely floor everyone. I’m not going to be happy
with these new tracks until they physically hurt the listener.

Any last words?

Thank you to all of our fans for supporting us over the years, and thanks to
Vamps and Tramps for making this interview happen. Stay tuned, the best
is yet to come.

Friday, December 19, 2008

I was going to type a big write up concerning the tour in October, but I feel that the imagery and videos will suffice.  We want to thank Android Lust for being such great people to work with.  We would also like to thank all of the fans for coming out to every show, it meant a lot to us to meet you and see you all there.  It was our pleasure to bring our form of destruction to your city, and can't wait to do it again.

I kept this short because I think I can speak for anyone around this project and all of our heads are already moved into what will be next.  This quiet you've heard is not by accident.  It only means that we are neck deep in what this band is becoming.

Soon I will be able to update you more frequently, and in more details about the current body of work.

With that said, it's time to move forward.

Travis T.
