FATHERS DAY OUTDOOR COMMUNITY SERVICE - Williams Park Waterfall
I have much to be thankful for when it comes to my Father.
Like sitting on his fathers, my Grandfathers front porch, and talking about my Dad in his growing years. That was one of the best memories of my Grandpa, because it was just him and me talking and seeing a lot of who my Dad is in his fathers eyes. Now looking back seeing things in my life passed on from my Dad to me, and Im passing on to my son.
Im thankful for my Dads LOVE.
Love he shows my Mother, love he shows our family, the love of life itself. Love for me, if I needed to talk he was there. If I needed correction he was there. If I needed he was there. Unconditional love was and is what he has shown.
Im thankful for my Dads COMMITMENT.
A commitment that stood the test of time, when 50 years ago he said, I do. and meant it. Even when there was disagreements, in his loving way he found a way to compromise and find a solution. His commitment toward his family, toward others and himself.
Im thankful for my Dads SUPPORT.
His support always has meant so much to me. I can remember as a child sitting in the car, and my dad saying, son, dont ever let someone tell you who you can be. Be who you want to be, and be proud of who you are. Growing up he always gave me encouragement and support. He still does today.
Im thankful for my Dads CHARACTER.
His character stands out. Being honest, telling the truth even when its not easy. His treatment of others as well as his treatment of me. His caring, grace, and understanding. His fatherly advice that comes from his years of experience. His sense of humor.
All these things and so much more make him the example of the Dad I want to be. I am grateful and blessed to have his example to live my life by. All these things & so much more have made me who I am and the Dad that I am. I try to make a good example and I hope my son will make the same good example to his child.
Thank you Grandpa, thank you Dad for all you have done.
