We had the opportunity to open for Third Eye Blind last week at a sold out arena gig!
Needless to say, we are not used to playing arenas in front of 8,000 people.
Not sure how similiar a genre Third Eye Blind is to us, but we went out there and rocked it and it proved to be a great show. The audience was awesome, we sold out of our merchandise and met countless new fans after the show..etc..

but..

One Girl, Jenna Wright, hated us so much, she wrote a five paragraph story on us for her student newspaper!!
She went so far out of her way to say mean things and actually researched our song names and our names etc.. impressive to say the least.

we figured, we as a band, could help her get her negative energy out, even if it's at our own expense.. bad and good alike.
thanks for the attention Jenna.. hope your school year rocks!!

11/20/07 - Not since Green Day's "American Idiot" tour, had I been fortunate enough to attend such an outstanding sold-out show as last night's performance by Third Eye Blind at the Ryan Center.

Don't get me wrong, I've had a fair share of great shows since then, like Avenged Sevenfold's performance last week and Modest Mouse's appearance at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel last spring, but c'mon, Third Eye Blind really blows every one of those out of the water.

The evening began with a pitiful attempt made by opening band The Shorebirds, whose Brooklyn-based alternative sound seemed only to amount to that of high school kids in their parents' garage.

The lead vocalist/guitarist Mark Ephraim, lacked any real lyrical talent, his performance mostly consisted of a vague drone that seemed to just go through the motions of being a functioning part of the Shorebirds line-up. His hopes of creating some crowd presence by being "humorous" didn't help much either because it just sounded as if he was mumbling or maybe that was his singing too?

Songs from the Shorebirds included, "Get Her Number" and "Shiver," both of which had redundant chorus phrases and got old fast. They tried adding bongo beats in one of their closing songs, but to no avail. The audience had little luck in actually hearing the little drummer-boy.

In fairness to The Shorebirds, Ephraim did come out in a winter fur hat, which is great since it has been getting colder and ear-flaps always seem to up the warming ante.

However their Myspace page makes it clear that this garment was literally a tip of the hat to their first EP, The Heavy Hands of Hunters.

All right, well enough about the feeble attempts of the openers, we'll turn our attention to the main attraction, Third Eye Blind.
