Nick Simile and Chase Becker, the forefathers of Desecrate, have been friends since spring 2000, but it wasn’t until Nick showed Chase that he had a guitar that something happened. Chase had always wanted to be in a band, and since Nick had the guitar he thought: “Why not bass?” Nick and Chase never got around to jamming with each other, but they both started playing in other bands. Chase played with drummer Ben Woodworth and Matt King. That’s where the band name came from: Desecrate. In the meantime, Nick joined a band with Hawk Engvig, Tommy Orchard and Robert Caffey, mainly playing cover songs. Soon after, both Nick and Chase stopped playing with those bands, and Chase dropped the bass and picked up the guitar.

Chase and Nick saw Ben one day at school and told him that they wanted to jam. Ben had his doubts, but soon after he agreed. They had fun and decided that they were going to be a band. After recording some songs they soon got a bass player, Tim Lawrence, but he soon left because he was just helping them out. So they replaced him with Emilio, but he didn’t fit. Tim came back for a while, but again just to help. At this point, Nick said he knew a mean bass player from his last band named Hawk. Hawk was dedicated to the other band at the time and said he would help them out with one show. After playing that show, Hawk knew that Desecrate was the band for him, and Desecrate was finally complete for the time, at the end of summer 2002.

Desecrate shredded, head banged, and sweated at every club they could find, and soon the Army of metal heads sunk their claws into moshing madness. Playing show after show, Desecrate tore the metal underground scene a new ass hole. But under the surface the cracks began to show. If Desecrate didn’t play a show for a while, Ben would say: “I don’t want to play anymore, and I am going to quit after the next show”. The band would play, and Ben would change his mind and say that he wanted to stay. After this happened three times, the rest of the band decided that it was enough and put in an ad for a new drummer.

This ad was answered by one man, Adam Jones. On September 1, 2003 Adam joined the band and Desecrate continued its plans of making Metal dominate the world once more. Soon more local metal bands started rising up and the flames of metal grew higher, Desecrate knew it needed to record a CD and found Mark Danzeisen. After spending 2 months in the studio Mike couldn’t finish the last song of the CD, so Desecrate took there tracks to Jeff Hannan, and finished the self-titled metal monstrosity. They released “Desecrate” the 7 song CD, on January 21, 2004. Soon after metal engulfs the L.A. underground, and Desecrate starts selling out show after show. Everyone knows now the only way to stop the feinding sensations for Metal, is a night spent head banging and moshing with DESECRATE! 

Desecrates drive, goals and attitudes stayed the same, but Adam did not. Soon Adam found himself dedicated to other styles of music, and decided to leave desecrate because of their preference for Heavy Metal! Desecrate sent out adds and tried out several drummers, till a mad man named Vince Cabanban showed up at the studio and tore the place apart. This lunatic became a creative and intricate part of the crazy trio almost right off the bat, showing what Adam did not, drive and dedication. Desecrate though found exactly what they were looking for, but time would prove time wrong.

Vince was a dedicated drummer, but in many ways did not fit the mold that Desecrate was hoping for. Though his skills and enthusiasm as a drummer where unquestionable his work in the band beyond that was very lacking. At the same time Adam found him self relapsing back in the metal scene with other local bands and slowly reintegrated back into Desecrate. Adam seemed ready to finally dedicate himself to Desecrate and soon Vince was out and Adam joined back up.

Desecrate knew it was time to record a new album, though the time they took for recording grew because of time they would need to find a new drummer. Desecrate wanted an album that would do them and their sound justice, a mix of the old and the new. Desecrate turned to Rich Bruce to punched out the out the 5 track masterpiece titled “Mental Massacre” which they released on March 14, 2008 after its début play several small shows with Adam who priorities changed from Desecrate to paying gigs. Desecrate began yet another search for the perfect drummer. Which was found surprisingly down the street.

Zared Tre-Stepanian is the newest addition to Desecrate. Back and better then ever Desecrate is fanning out the flames of metal and spreading their plague further then ever.  They are currently in the process of looking for a major label to take their music to the next level the rest of the world. If you have heard or seen Desecrate and what they stand for you know that soon the music will engulf the world.
