I have just recorded a dj mix for Tim Sweeney's excellent Beats In Space radio show in NYC. It's somewhat a part 2 of my mix cd for Colette. The shows are all archived on his website here. These mixes are for home listening, and are not how I play in a club.

Fourth World was a term that the trumpeter Jon Hassell used to describe the music he began producing in the 1970s. His vision was "a unified primitive/futuristic sound combining features of world ethnic styles with advanced electronic techniques."

The Fifth Circuit is part of the 8 circuit (or system) model of human conciousness as proposed by Dr Timothy Leary and explained and expanded upon by Robert Anton Wilson. The 5th (Neurosomatic) Circuit is the 1st of the "higher" circuits of the right brain which are dormant in most humans. Upon it's activation the compulsive, terrestrial mechanisms of the 1st 4 circuits begin to seem facile and outmoded. Neurosomatic turn-on perhaps prepares us for the next stages of evolution, even pre-capitulates the experience of life in space. "What are you here for? We are all here to go."

I'm really looking forward their Warehouse Ball on Friday. As you can tell from the quote below their tastes are as fantastic as their records and live show! Actually they're too kind. But I am very flattered as I really believe they're the most exciting young band in the known universe.

"Midnight Mike/Mikey Moonlight I met for the first time on tour with Soulwax. He was playing some ridiculous records I'd never heard before just as the doors were opening. I got chatting with him and he just blew me away with his knowledge of everything. He's a really, really smart guy and a really honest one. He seems to do things for his own reasons, his own way and what he does is truly amazing [Steady on son - Ed]. He's someone I don't know even half as well as I'd like to but i have the upmost respect for him. On top of all that he makes really, really, REALLY amazing music. [OK, we get the picture]. His cover of Sun Ra's 'Interplanetary Music' is one of the best tracks of the past few years. it's also got a great video that he made for it. Go youtube it."

The latest issue of the Italian art journal Uovo comes with an audio cd featuring "sound postcards" (1 min tracks) by various artists including Zongamin, Joakim, Throbbing Gristle, Sébastien Tellier, Alan Vega, Sun City Girls and Khan. My own contribution is a song called "Music For ’Responsible Reprogenetics’ Public Service Broadcast".

You can hear it here

In February I was delighted to record a mix cd for the "Parisian concept store" Colette.
You can download an mp3 file here.

You can also buy the cd (Colette N°9) from the online shop. It's a double cd, the 1st disc is compiled by Michel Gaubert and Marie Branellec.

I am honoured and delighted to be able to include the music on this compilation. I have had to edit a few of the tracks in order to place them in the mix. Please buy the originals!
