Hello!

We mentioned in an earlier blog that our song "Cinnamon Scars" is being used in an episode of Kyle XY. Yup, that show about the kid with no belly button and, uh... powers. Well, the episode with our song is airing this coming Monday, Feb. 23rd--booya!! The show is on ABC Family, and airs at 9pm in most places.

Our songs have also been getting used a lot on VH1 and MTV shows lately, which is awesome. Leave us a comment when you hear one!

Matt from Vimby shot this really cool video interview/acoustic performance in early September, and it's been all edited together and is up on Vimby.com. You can go check it out here. The interview was done outside of the Roxy in West Hollywood, and the acoustic performance was shot in a park with a great view of downtown in the background. Hope you enjoy!

Hello all,

As we've mentioned recently (see the blog below titled "Please read--a message from Philip and the Hanks" for more info), we're looking for a new keyboardist!

More specifically, we're looking for a keyboardist who can sing (guitar playing a huge plus, horn playing also a plus) and who's ready to hit the road with us. We have two full-length albums out, 7 national tours under our belt, a manager, a lawyer, a publicist and a fairly good sense of humor. Our style is similar to "Death Cab For Cutie," "The Police," "Jimmy Eat World," "Foo Fighters," etc. We're looking for someone who is really passionate about music and ready to work hard. This is our career and life. No drugs. Between the age of 18-29. Preferably you would have really good hair (that one's negotiable).

The Hanks - New Album Interview

Hey all,
Mucho exciting news. Firstly, we are in this months' issue of AP!! You know, this one...

Yeah, that's it! We're featured in the "Our Unsigned Bands of the Month" section. Pretty exciting!!

Also, we just got word that "The Wrath of Poseidon" just got placed in this upcoming movie called "Knuckle Draggers," which marks our first song in a feature film! BTW, Roman Cortez, who did the video for "Believe" up on our page, snagged the title of first to use Hanks music in film, in his short film "Signerz"... little Hanks trivia for ya there!

ALSO... we are releasing our album "Distance" on iTunes! It will be for sale on August 26th! It is going to be on sale for pretty durn cheap for awhile, and at some point we'll be raising it a bit, so make sure to get that sucker soon as it comes out!

Dearest Hanks Fans,

I, Philip, will be moving on in the world of music. I have decided to stay in Los Angeles, and teach music full time. I'm also getting married next year in March and want to settle down. So that is that. BUT, do not worry The Hanks WILL continue, after a brief hiatus to find a new member.

September 4th in Los Angeles will be my last show. That is going to be a good one , we're opening for Kill Lola at The Roxy!

So thank you to everyone I've met while in the band and to every person that is a fan of our music, to everyone who has helped us with a place to stay, money, food, love. I couldn't have dreamed of a better way to spend these last eight years.

In August we'll be taking a tour through the south, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Florida, those will also be my last shows there too, so make sure to come out so I can say goodbye to you.

For those of you who know us well, you know that Phil has been a really big part of this band for many years. He is a fantastic keyboardist, a terrific trombonist, and a great backup vocalist. But more than that, he has been the van driver, the directions getter, the myspace promoter, the money counter, the video maker, the website poster, and much more. He has been a great friend and bandmate for many years, and will be missed, but we're also really excited for him in this next chapter of his life. We will be attempting to fill his very large shoes in the coming months, which we'll post more about that later. In the meantime, please come out to our shows on this next tour and give the man a big hug!

As many of you know, we tour a lot. We drive around in a big, white van. Yesterday, our transmission went out on that big, white van! We stopped at a mechanic and it cost about 3 grand to fix. We managed to squeeze that onto credit cards, but it was a hard hit for us. We decided to reach out to you, our fans, for help. If you can, please donate a few dollars towards the cost of the new transmission. Any amount is EXTREMELY appreciated. Just go to the front of our myspace and click on the picture of the transmission that says "Help us fix our transmission!"
