I'd like to thank Shawn Kimon, my engineer. There are very few people on this planet that have "ears" and Shawn is a tone god and absolute gentleman. Aaron Brooks, was, as always, a beast. Stay tuned for more photographs as we unfold. I'd also like to announce that Nick Fowler and I are writing what we believe to be the next great American novel. We've been in a mad race to get this little fairytale done and expect a 2008 release.

October is my favorite month of the year, and the fact my birthday falls on Halloween makes it even sweeter : ) I like to announce that the recording of ANGIESCREAMS V will begin this month @ The Wild Arctic in Long Island City, New York. An extraordinary amount of electricity is running through my life right now, and I couldn't think of a better time to finally get on tape for you these songs I've been feeling. Thank you, everyone, for all your support. You keep me writing. ANGIESCREAMS V is coming this Summer, 2008. Enjoy Mother Nature in all her glory, and may you have a perfect Fall. **taken from the September issue of 1340mag.com (the most killer online mag out there). Jeff Holton (who truly kicks ass) did the interview.
ANGIESCREAMS is a name that you may have never heard before...but oh, you will! When the music industry finally wakes up and realizes that the future is ANGIE and ANGIE is now then I will once again have faith in the industry. Regardless of what the industry has overlooked, Arthur Lynn and ANGIESCREAMS roXX and yes that is with two X's. Recently Arthur (guitarist/vocalist) took a few moments to answer some of my questions and you need to do yourself a favor and read on and get familiar with this man because someday he is going to be on top of it all.
Jeff: Hey Arthur, I have been listening to your newest CD The Paper Fortress and it totally rocks! I've noticed you have changed your sound a bit, would you care to discuss how this change came and where you plan on going with it?
Arthur: There is no doubt that the change this time around was Carlos (Alomar). He wanted to bring out my playing a lot more and wanted an enormous guitar feel for the record overall. He also chose odd bits to use like the vocal in "Machines" which actually was just the rough that was used for tracking drums and bass. Or he'd secretly record me noodling on the guitar and throw it in places on a track. I guess I strayed from doing over the top guitar stuff in the past because the industry was so down on musicianship but Carlos was like, "No way man!" Baddest dude I know. It kills me that for decades he was Bowie's right hand man, stadium to stadium, studio to studio, station to station. I can't believe he recorded on all those masterpieces. There where times in the studio where I would just stop, look at him and acknowledge to myself that this was all actually happening. Rob Harari gave the record its big sound, no doubt. He is a genius at recording anything you put in front of him and has the most beautiful studio I've ever seen. We were very happy as a team, and I feel it really shows in the recordings.
Jeff: I thought you might like to know that I have The Paper Fortress as my song on the 1340mag MySpace page : )
Arthur: That's awesome!!! That's why Myspace rules. You get exposure that otherwise would be impudent. I love Myspace. Thank you!!
Jeff: You hooked up with Carlos Alomar to produce this EP. He has quite a resume in music, how did you get him to work with you?
Arthur: After shopping the "radio" EP and having virtually every label pass because my songs weren't "commercial" enough I decided to really create a strategy this time and wait for the right opportunity. I was asked to do some more guitar auditions for major label acts in need of a lead guitarist and passed because I was so focused on solving this riddle of Angie. Through Myspace an incredibly talented and lovely gal named Dana Frank approached me and sold me on the idea that if I signed with her, Carlos Alomar would produce my next EP. She told me he was really into the sounds and vibe and I signed with her without even meeting or talking to him just because it seemed so absurd and exciting. In the end Carlos showed up to the Knitting Factory in New York City eleven days later to see us perform live. I remember my bud Alex running up to me while we were setting up on stage and telling me, "He's just walked in, dude! Don't fu*k up!"
Jeff: How was working with him different than working with others in the past?
Arthur: Alomar is one of the greatest guitar players on the planet. He's all about the feel. This man has a ridiculously huge mind also. So having a producer who is the man on guitar and a cosmic think tank at the same time was a dream. He would be like, "Try this, try that. You know what, forget that. Try this. Let's order sushi." I actually convinced him to play a little something on all three tracks. I would tell you what but then I would have to kill you!!
Jeff: You know my only complaint with the new CD is that it was too short, will you or have you ever considered doing a full length?
Arthur: Hopefully this will land the big deal so I can record my little epic in some obscure wooded location and hide from the world! I always wanted to use that recording studio in Canada where Rush filmed the "Limelight" video. That place looks sick.
Jeff: Could you tell us a little about your current line up?
Arthur: Patrick Dougherty is my bass player. He by far is the most killing player in NYC and there was no other choice in mind. Anyone with the nickname "Mutha Fuc*a" has to be bad. Aaron Brooks is the man behind the throne. He is the sickest, most thunderous drummer around. Moby is using him now for shows around town but I won't let him steal him!! As long as I have Aaron keeping that punchy a$$ pocket, I'm a very happy man. Carlos has been playing with us on stage and I'm just enjoying every moment we have with him. It's just plain nuts looking over while I'm singing and seeing that smile of his and hearing that guitar.
Jeff: What are some bands that you are listening to currently?
Arthur: I feel so old school but really I've been listening to the same bands I've been rocking out to my whole life. AC/DC, Gun's, Zeppelin, Halen, Floyd, The Doors, Ozzy, Rush, Queen, Bowie . . . I wish kick a$$ Rock like that was being force fed to us but these labels are serving up some really bad tunes and these kids are eating it up like McDonalds.
Jeff: What can we expect from ANGIESCREAMS in the future?
Arthur: We are going to secure a major label recording and publishing contract, do our first album, tour the world, eat tons of lobster, and do it all over again for the next record!
Jeff: Any parting thoughts?
Arthur: The fact that you gave me the opportunity to speak is beautiful. I can't thank you enough. In this biz you really got to be a beast to survive. Stamina is the key. I've seen so many of my friends quit or just hide away from the reality of the biz. You constantly have to be on point. You're always taking hits from industry, critics, friends, family, neighbors, enemies, girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, the peanut gallery, and on and on. My Grandfather was an absolute animal. I remember he told me once, "Hey kid, you got to eat sh*t to succeed. And then you got to eat more and more of it and smile while you're eating it. And then you got to look up at the person straight in the eyes and say, mmmmm, this sh*t tastes great, sir." I think I've finally learned to eat sh*t with a smile.

Today I recieved the first round of art proofs from Discmakers. They really do such an excellent job. If you're about to release your package (oh dang) I would look no further than this kick ass company. I can't wait to release IV . . . at first it looks like it will only be to industry folk but there is a secret link that you might just figure out with the new photo shoot and mp3 files. I've gone through these wonderful changes in the past year and I hope you soon feel the energy and excitment coming through your speakers and i-pods. I have never felt more passionate about my life and music and I feel like it's only just beginning. Take the time and smell the roses, people. It changed my life in ways I never could have imagined.

The recording of ANGIESCREAMS IV, "The Paper Fortress" is complete. Mixing will take place by Rob Harari at the magical Harariville Studios in New Jersey late April and mastering will take place in May by Steve Vavagiakis in New York. This has absolutely been the most incredible experience of my life working with Mr. Alomar. Expect a Summer release. Photographs from the studio: HERE

Carlos Alomar will be producing ANGIESCREAMS IV. Carlos is currently President of the New York Chapter of the Grammy's. ANGIESCREAMS IV will be released this Summer 2006. A brief bio on the man . . .
Guitarist Carlos Alomar has played on more David Bowie albums than any other six stringer has (including Mick Ronson, who was perhaps the most identifiable with Bowie). In 1974, Alomar crossed paths with Bowie, who was interested in penning an album that explored dance/funk sounds of Philadelphia soul. The two hit it off, which would signal the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between the singer and guitarist. 1975's classic Young Americans soon followed, as Alomar also helped co-write one of Bowie's biggest hits, "Fame," along with Bowie and John Lennon. It was also around this time that Alomar supposedly 'discovered' soul singer Luther Vandross, having him sing on Bowie's album, which ultimately led to a successful solo career of his own. Alomar quickly figured out that Bowie wasn't set on a single musical style for any period of time, as Alomar kept pace on such experimental and musically varied Bowie albums as 1976's Station to Station, 1977's Low and Heroes, 1979's Lodger, and 1980's Scary Monsters. The guitarist and Bowie also helped revive the career of punk icon Iggy Pop during this period, helping produce and co-write two of Pop's finest solo albums, 1977's The Idiot and 1978's Lust For Life.
Alomar continued to play/tour with Bowie off and on throughout the '80s, including being named "musical director" of Bowie's overblown Glass Spider Tour in 1987. An overabundance of session work also came Alomar's way, as he played with a variety of other artists during this period - Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Chuck Berry, Bette Midler, Arcadia, Digable Planets, James Brown, The Bee Gees, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Carly Simon, Duran Duran, and Prefab Sprout, among countless others. As a result, the guitarist/songwriter has played on a total of 32 Gold and Platinum records over the years. Alomar also issued a solo album in 1988, Dream Generator, which focused more on synth/guitar textures rather than showing off his chops. Soundtrack work for movies and TV followed, including such motion pictures as Pretty Woman, Pretty In Pink, Usual Suspects, and Christina F, plus jingles for television commercials. Alomar also reunited with his old pal Bowie for such latter day releases as 1995's Outside and 2002's Heathen. The early 21st century saw Alomar serve as Director of A & R for the "Boombacker" Music label, and putting together another solo release, to be titled Hyly Volatyl. ~ Greg Prato (All Music Guide)
