Hey peeps! Just wanted to let you know how excited I am to be heading back into the studio next week to start recording the next CD. I promise to have some new songs up soon so you can hear where I've been heading musically. I also went to a songwriting circle at Jack Hardy's home in the village. He's been a fixture on the folk scene since the 70s. I was blown away by the talent in the room that night. When it was my turn I kinda wanted my mommy.

So many great happenings! If you've read my last blog you know all about my new Taylor and that I've been writing lots of new songs. I'm thrilled to be playing with Carl Spataro (on drums) and Daniella Fischetti (ass kickin violin player!) I'm heading across the pond for a bit, but when I get back I plan on playing for you as much as possible! Enjoy...and do something you've never done before!<>

I noticed there is no emoticon for thrilled, but if you must know my feelings that's what I am! I'm psyched to say Carl is now kickin' ass on drums and I can't stop singing the new songs over and over and over in my head. Plus I got a brand spankin' new Taylor and she's a beaut! It's the 514ce and you feel every note echo in your chest cavity. Now that's what I call love. Have a happy day everybody.

Happy New Year everyone! 2007 has been crazy, busy and productive at least behind the scenes...been doing some intensive songwriting, voice training, and piano lessons. I've been told it (piano) will open up a whole new world of songwriting. I'm loving it so far. See/hear the fruits of my labor (minus the actual piano playing) cause the new CD is ready and I can't wait to share it with you at the release party on Friday, Jan. 25 at BOA Bar.

So I was asked to write a song for an upcoming movie. It's a dark comedy and they (the proverbial "they") loved the tune so it's in! As soon as it's recorded you'll hear it. It will feature Bitterweed, my hard rock band. If you haven't heard any Bitterweed, check us out here on myspace!

While I was in London the lovely Virginia worked feverishly on a new website for me. I was shocked, surprised and Deeeelighted with the results. Check it out.

Listen to the song I sang for Jim Destri (Blondie)...
So I'm glad Jim put something up here. You can hear me sing "Smoke and Sugar" on his page www.myspace.com/jimmydestri . My brother still doesn't believe it's me singing. He says I sound uber-girly on it. You should also badger him to upload a song he has called "Information". His voice sounds hot, the lyrics are awesome and it's just an all around great song. I keep trying to convince him to sing it himself and release it. It'll have the girls melting like a plate of icecream in the sun.

Like I said in my last blog, I'm opening my proverbial musical windows. I've been lending my hands and some background vocals to Bea from Bea Ba. It's acoustic and has such a latin flavor..no duh. I'm learning more spanish in the process too. Bea is the most disciplined lass I know, and damn her body's ripped! Check her out (and me too) at CBs Gallery Aug. 6, 2006 at 8pm.

So at some point last week Jim called and asked if I'd sing one of his songs for a new demo he's putting together. We spent Sunday hangin' out, listening to new tunes and as I melted over his gorgeous baby girl I wondered in the back of my mind whether I'd be able to do it. (Doubt is a fucker). So I had one day w/ the lyrics and a copy of the song then went in to record Monday night. It so rocked. I listen to my old Blondie records every now and then, but never really thought too much about what went into them. I have mega respect for this guy. He's really talented and patient and whether or not I end up being the final vocalist on this track (Shirley Manson/Garbage is diggin' the stuff and may be singing too) I think he has a hit on his hands. It was really cool for me cause if you've ever heard Bitterweed (my old band --you can find us easily since I'm one of my own friends) it's pretty heavy, yellin', not too much in the way of vocal inflections. Jim's song really challenged me. It's really vocally interesting and while I can't put it up (sorry) it reminds me of something Quentin Tarintino would use for a film. Kinda. Looking forward to continuing to try new stuff...I'm opening my proverbial windows.
