For those who have been following the Philistines' exploits for the past 5 years, we are EXTREMELY happy to announce that the documentary Slingshot Hip-Hop has been accepted into the 2008 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL!

This is big news. It means that our highly-successful compilation, Free the P, which has been sold to support the film since 2005, was completely worth it. It means that every single one of you who bought the CD helped make this happen.

Most importantly, it means that the lives, struggles, and music of our hip-hop brethren in Palestine (DAM, PR, Abeer, & MWR to name a few) will finally be given the international representation and recognition they deserve.

CONGRATULATIONS to director Jackie Salloum and everyone who has volunteered their time and effort to make this dream a reality!!!

Your boy RAGTOP does not sleep. Since returning to LA from Kuwait, Palestine and places Beyond I have recorded an ENTIRE full-length album, which is currently being mixed & mastered by the capable hands of DJ COLE MINOR.

In the meantime, I'm releasing my first ever SOLO SINGLE, called ALTER EGO. You can hear some of this new music at www.myspace.com/mcragtop and will be able to purchase the CD very soon.

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!

12/27/07 - Bangkok, Thailand:

It's hot. In a lean-back, let it all wash over you kind of way. I've been in Thailand for three days after a brief stint in Singapore, where I shall return to ring in the New Year. For those friends and fam who are familiar with my Kuwait experience, let me start this off on the right note:

Yes, I got a massage, and this time when the lady handed me a pair of tightey-whiteys I knew exactly what to expect.

The people here are incredibly warm and open. People say that when they travel but I mean it. You smile and thank cars for stopping to let you pass, and if you choose to wave a car along they smile and thank you. Restaurants open up for you after-hours because you look hungry. Monks appreciate that you take an interest in their religion, and that you take your shoes off without being told to do so.

It's like Cairo without the sense of getting ripped off all the time.

I could go on, but as they say, a picture speaks a thousand words. Especially if it's a picture of a thousand words. So check out my travel pics at www.myspace.com/mcragtop (click on the image of me in a hoodie to view the photo album) and be well!

Your boy,

Ragtop
