Current mood:  sad
After many years, and many beautiful experiences we have parted ways with our singer.  He is one one of my best friends, and one of the best guys I know.  Lonny has many ambitions and many obligations at this point in his life.  This was the best decision that we could come to.  We still love him and he still loves all of us.

DMN plans on going on, check back often for updates.

To Lonny and all of our fans, we love you and will see you soon.

This goes out to all of our internet friends who want to show us some support. We know you're out there because we get the messages and comments. First, thanks to all of you :-)

We've been seeking out internet airplay from the many channels out ther. We've made good progress these last 2 weeks so here's the update:

LAST WEEK, on Tuesday Feb. 5th, we appeared on WKBR, Kingsborough Community College's radio station on their rock variety show, Rock Redemption. We had a great time and even recorded some radio spots for them (Hi this is Dirty Mother Nation and you're listening to...you know the drill). Even if you missed the interview (we set a record for most calls to the show in a single night), you can catch our songs in rotation on the show every Tuesday night from 8-10PM on 90.3 FM in South Brooklyn or at wkrb.org streaming everywhere and anywhere.

THIS WEEK , Saturday night February 16th, between 8-11PM, we'll be played on MaximumThreshold.net , so tune in to that site and stream the songs. Join the site and be part of their chat room and request our music.

We'll be doing more net radio ASAP, so keep checking the blog and find out where we'll be next.

Hey Everyone

Just getting the word out to everyone on myspace that DmN's song 'Everything You Are' is now available as a part of Quickstar Productions' Rock 4 Life: Volume 9 Compilation CD.

We're the 3rd Track on the disc, but theres alot of other really cool groups you can check out, maybe even your new second favorite band :-) I'll recommend tracks 2,9 and 13, but seriously, get ahold of it.

If you want a copy, get in touch with us over myspace, we're gonna add it to the online store. Buy it separately for $5 or together with our 4 song demo for $9 and we'll pay the shipping.

AND...We're hoping to have some more exciting news coming soon, but be patient, we'll be sure to let you know. Trust me, it will make you happy.

Behind the Shades

I don't feel like going out today

I don't feel like leaving

I don't feel like anything

And I don't care what is going on outside of my window

I'm hiding here

Hiding behind the shades

I'll just stay away

And waste another day

Leave until tomorrow

All of the things

That I should have done today

For now I'll just lay here

Surrounded by pictures and memories of my former life

And I can stay away

And waste another day

And I'll just stay right here and waste away

As I'm sure you have all noticed, Dirty Mother Nation is growing each day and expanding its geographical horizons more and more.  We're not just a local band from Brooklyn anymore.  We're looking to play shows all over.  That means there is no state we won't consider traveling to.  We're even looking into the possibility of traveling to other nearby countries.  But we are going to need all of your help in this.  We are starting up a thorough mailing list that will help us figure out where to play and who will be there.  So we are asking YOU, our fans to email us with some really important information.  Email us at DMNMailingList@gmail.com and let us know  your name, age, location, cell phone number and MySpace URL.  If you are outside of the New York area, let us know of a local venue or 2 near you that you go to see local rock bands.  Thanks for all of your help and hopefully we'll come to your area real soon!!

A Life Less Sweet

Mansions of glory appear over my head

Remembrances of stories long ago read

Suddenly I think I see out the corner of my eye

A soul who left us long ago, but I don't know why...

I thought as time went by

I'd lose this urge to cry

But, this life less sweet lets no tears dry

Mansions of glory disappear over my head

All of your stuff is here but you're still fucking dead

I've heard the stories but I know that it's not true

Those who left us long ago, they're not watching over you

I thought as time went by

I'd lose this urge to cry

But, this life less sweet lets no tears dry

There's nothing I could be if not for you

At night I dream but still I know that its not true

Since you've left us I feel scarred through and through

At the end of the story, I still love you...

I thought as time went by

I'd lose this urge to cry

But, this life less sweet lets no tears dry

All I'm Trying To Say...

I know why you're so sad.

'cause, its so easy to cry on your birthday

But, all I'm trying to say is...

"Maybe some candles aren't meant to burn.

And that's O.K. We can light the night another way."

Do you think its meant to be that everybody is living alone?

Well, I don't think its meant to be, and I don't feel like God is home.

But, I know the moon will rise, it will rise on the day that I die.

Another man has dropped his oar sailing on the sea of life

My face is on the floor using the carpet to dry my tears

The dust is everywhere and you left behind so many years

...and I know why you're so sad 'cause its so easy to cry everyday

And all I'm trying to say is...

"Maybe some candles aren't meant to burn. and it really is O.K., yeah. Because, we can find another way to light up the night."

So, as many of you know, DMN has been in Brazil for the last few weeks. Paul and I just came home yesterday. Matt and Dan will be returning at the end of the week.

Without getting into too many details, I must say that I had the most amazing experience of my entire life. I am not even going to bother talking about the food, the scenery, the people, or the women. I'll leave that to in-person descriptions. What I will say is that, this was a musical invasion. Dirty Mother Nation poisoned the shores of Brazil like cyanide in orange juice. lol...

The shows started off with a bang at an outdoor event in the largest park in Brazil. We played with our brothers from Bando Do Vielho Jack. There were at least 500 people screaming our name. We handed out a million shirts, signed a bunch of autographs, and I lost my sunglasses.

Next morning, we hit TV. We were on a local show called "Oficina De Ideias." The audience was a local high school. WOW. I think Matt might have permanently injured some of these girls when he walked into the crowd with his shirt off. More autographs, more insanity. I signed someones sneakers...

Next up was a radio interview and another TV spot. Picture this: You're driving through the streets of Brazil. You put on the radio. You hear Precious Little Lies. Yah man.

Friday night we blew the roof off of Cafe Moinho. I don't what was better...our show or the all star jam with Bando De Vielho Jack of "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "War Pigs".

Saturday was the best though. This was a more intimate club. We packed the place up. The band before us had a guitarist who had one hand and played better than me by a longshot. I jumped up and sang Wish You Were Here with them. Then DMN fucking ROCKED!!!! Then I jumped back up with the next band to sing...something. Who fucking remembers??

I can't even express the amount of fun I had there. I've missed all of you, but I am also sad that this wonderful experience has ended. Danny and Matt, if you read this, get home safe. I miss you guys. And fuck you for staying for two weeks. Bastards.

Falle "hoy" a mi esposa. Hay, tay. Ciao.

Below, you'll find the lyrics to the newest DMN song. I wrote them as a reaction to recent happenings here in the city. That little girl Nixzmary who was killed by her parents. The college student Imette who was tied up and murdered. This song is for all the victims of the terrible situations that this society places them in.

The Siren's Song

Verse 1

Theres no angels in the projects

Theres no choice there but to lose

They're all just waiting around, waiting for a sign that theres something to do

I wish I knew the answer

I wish I knew just what was wrong

Instead, I push my foot down on the gas and move right along

I can't tell you how to fight

I can't even tell you the reasons why

Chorus

But, we can't be here

Its gone on too long, this can't be

We can't be here

If you open your ears you'll hear the child scream

As the siren's sing

Out their song in the night to the land of the free...

For how long will they scream?

Verse 2

This morning I woke up early

I grabbed a coffee and read the news

I couldn't believe all of the terrible things that other people do

I can't believe I'm part of it. I feel I've been a part all along

And I'm tired of waiting around for someone else to put right whats wrong.

How can I tell you what is right...

When you only see in black and white?

Chorus

But, we can't be here

Its gone on too long, this can't be

We can't be here

If you open your ears you'll hear the child scream

As the siren's sing

Out their song in the night to the land of the free...

For how long will they scream?

Dirty Mother National Headlines

DMN loses in Round 3 of Emergenza
despite a great showing of support and a huge party...DMN failed to advance to round 4 of Emergenza. The band placed 4th out of 10 bands ina very tight race decided by less than 20 votes. Congrats to Durtneck for knowing how to promote a great show.

Asked if they're upset about the loss...DMN said "who gives a shi**, we were happy to play at so many great shows, but we're still the best band in thecompetition"

More Songs in Recording
Following some lag time, the band has returned to finishing up some new tracks for the upcoming album. 'Precious Little Lies' is in mixing phase and 'Everything you are'is going to have vocal tracks the 3rd week in May. The new cuts won't be available until the full release (no pun intended) later on this summer. Stay Tuned for that

Possible New Venues For DMN
With much success on the Brooklyn scene, DMN is looking outward to work in the manhattan circuit to cultivate a bigger following in the Metro Area. Look for DMN in NYCs hottest rock clubs this summer!

DMN Going International AGAIN?
Looks as if the boys may not only be headed to Brazil, but some plans are in the works for a possible set of European dates including the famed Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. More info on this as it develops.
