Hello my MySpace Family, U*Space needs your help. The galIery is currently holding its very first fundraiser in the hopes of expanding our programing as well as increasing our physical space size.

Find out more at the link below -
Over the past few months I have worked really hard at creating a donation package that not only honors the spirit of inclusiveness that is U*Space but one that also strives to foster true sustainability through community participation. By keeping our focus on the power each individual has when it comes to shaping the communities they wish to live in & create, U*Space believes it has come up with a truly wonderful grassroots donation plan that will allow for short and long term giving by individuals. It is my goal to demonstrate with this fundraiser a truth - That everyone has the power to bring about significant changes in their lives, their communities, and the world at any given level.

What has me most excited about this formula is that if we can successfully launch this fundraiser then what I plan to do with the data results is package it into a free booklet that can serve as a viable model for how other lower income communities throughout the U.S. may be able to raise needed capital in their neighborhoods.

Change begins at home. Grants and loans are wonderful but they cannot be the end all. We must begin to empower our own communities instead of waiting with often tragic results for government funding & programs to bring about the obvious changes we need. Need litter cleaned up from around your neighborhood - fund it yourself! Crime knocking at your door - Fund a walking security patrol officer yourself! Just want to give a neighbor who has come down on their luck a helping hand - Fund it yourself! In the past, communities were a lot more self sustaining then today. Some things from our past do need to be revived.
This is indeed how the village came to raise a child. Find out more at the link below -

I'm extremely proud to have come this far and look forward to going further with you and the gallery. Your participation on any level is greatly needed and should you know of others who maybe able to help pay this dream forward please pass along our information.

From the little gallery that dared to dream I thank you for your generous support. Now, in the words of one of my favorite songs - “Go Tell It On The Mountain. Over The Hills & Everywhere.”

Stay creative always,

Shanti Om PreRelease Listening Party

U*Space Gallery would like you to join us for this very special Pre-Release meet and greet. We will be raffling off three autographed copies of the album throughout the night.

Rhythm In Search of A Band is that rare project that comes along to remind those of us that love music what the power of true artistry sounds like. Full of mystery, wisdom, and a warm sensual gracefulness, the album rambles seamlessly along from one dazzling track to the next creating a powerfully subtle spiritual wholeness rarely seen in today’s overly commercialized music industry.

The “rhythm” spoken of in the title of the album is as complex as life itself and yet one is struck by the very naturalness of its sound. The strength of the album lies in the fact that Shanti Om never forces her songs to do anything other than rise like strange bellows of smoke from the depths of consciousness. This is new a kind of roots music that walks a fine line between what is sacred and what is secular. Each of the ten original songs on the recording never fail to enlighten as well as entice the listener.

Melodious, haunting, and constantly unexpected, Rhythm In Search of a Band is an album at once familiar and spellbindingly different. Shanti Om has weld together a powerful album for the post 2009 generation.

THE ZERO HOUR

An Evening with
SEAN WATERMAN
  The Zero Hour
Armed with only a voice and his guitar, Sean Waterman's aural talents can best be likened to a painting by Henri Matisse.

Lush, intoxication, & heady - Waterman uses his voice as if it were a finely crafted scalpel. Masterfully peeling away the complex layers we call relationships with such delicate precision that one is not even aware that the cut has been made. Leaving listeners to quietly contemplate those places long since thought abandoned within their now open heart.

Don't miss the opportunity to see and hear this amazingly emotive Brooklyn born singer songwriter who is celebrating a banner year with the release of his debut album on Full Code Recordings.

"FREE" to the public
Door open at 7:00 pm

Who says nothings "FREE" anymore?

Please join us for the auspicious Atlanta Debut of
IRINA AKIMOVA

Featuring more than twenty works ranging from
  exquisite landscapes to dazzling abstractions.

Born in Russia where she graduated from the Moscow State University. Irina Akimova has always enjoyed drawing and painting, for a long time it was just a hobby for her.

Irina arrived to the U.S. in the summer of 2001 and settled in Blacksburg, south-western Virginia. Here Irina started painting more and more — partly as a way to live through the cultural shock of moving to a new country, leaving behind her parents, friends, job, etc.

In May 2006, Irina received an M.S. degree in Mathematics from Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University). The experience of being a science graduate student had an unexpected, though quite understandable in hindsight, effect of strengthening her desire to be a full-time artist.

Because we know the economy is not at it's best,
U*Space wants to help make your summer a memorable one.

Please join us this Friday, July 17, 2009 at 8:00pm

For an amazing "FREE" concert

Armed with a swagger as intense as Ani DiFranco and the lyrical insight of Laura Nyro, Kate Wright is a highly original singer/songwriter who's raw voice cuts straight through to the heart like a beautiful gleaming blade. Brittle, honest lyrics and tart unconventional melodies collide, forming an intoxicating collection of original songs that are at once fragile, empowering, and honest. Image grammy award winning artist Nora Jones letting her hair down just a little to allow a more soulful sound to wash over her - That's Kate Wright.

U*Space is please continue it's *ArtLab series with such an amazingly talented artist. This event will also give everyone who missed our wonderful opening for The Sound Of Violence a chance to see the artwork.

 Who says nothings free anymore?

Doors open at 7:00pm

STEPHEN A. WEBBER

"I belief that we all, as people, have our own purposes here in this journey of life on earth. We were not just put here by our Creator, by default or by accident. I think each of us is as significant as the other, and we each have a specific reason. Some of us are fortunate enough to know what what ours is." - SAW
