We are pleased to announce that we have just signed with Jazz/Funk Label Owl Studios.  We have entered the studio and are working with some really talented producers  (Gary Mielke, Rob Dixon and Chris Dobbs) in a top notch studio. We are really looking forward to the end product.

We are excited to be label mates with some great groups like Garaj Mahal, The Fareed Haque Group, Rob Dixon and Triology, Cynthia Layne, The Dixon/Rhyne Project and other world class jazz musicians from all over the U.S.  This is an exiting time for the band as we develop professionally and musically.

A big thank you to all of YOU for all of your great support that helped make this happen.

Please check out owlstudios.com or be their friend on myspace at www.myspace.com/owlstudios

Thank you so much and have a great day.

Bringin' The Funk to ORANJE 2007:

The Twin Cats
www.myspace.com/thetwincats

The Twin Cats — so named for twin brothers and founders Adam and Seth Catron, on drums and guitars/vocals — are a live, improv funk band that have made a name for themselves as of late with an active live schedule of eight to 10 shows a month. Other members include bassist Cameron Reel, keyboardist Phil Geyer and saxophone/flute player Nick Gerlach. Gerlach spoke to NUVO about the band's development.

NUVO: How have things gone for the Twin Cats with such an aggressive live schedule?

Gerlach: Things have grown exponentially. We went from playing the Rock Lobster and local shows, and now we're playing on a more regional level. We do Louisville and Chicago once a month, and we're getting into festivals.

NUVO: How has your sound developed?

Gerlach: We're obviously very funk-based, with some rock and jazz in there, but really, we just like to make people dance. We play about half-instrumental and half-lyrical. Our language is a really driving rhythm section. Adam and Cameron, our bass player, are as tight as any rhythm section I've ever heard. And Phil, our keyboard player with all the toys in the corner, adds a lot of color to what we're doing.

NUVO: You've started playing along with the Mudkids as of late; how's that working out?

Gerlach: It's a lot of fun, and it makes us tighten up our work musically. We frequently bring in special guests to our shows. It's exciting for the people to watch, and it's good for the group.

NUVO: You'll be sharing the stage with a lot of other groups during Oranje; any expectation of some jamming along those lines?

Gerlach: I'm hoping that there's going to be some collaboration between those groups. There are a lot of guys up there who know each other, a bunch of creative people on stage and in the crowd. We'll see how it goes. People will get their money's worth, I'm sure.

The Twin Cats made Nuvo Magazine's "Best of Indy 2005" issue!

Thanks for all of the support!

Here's what it said…

"The Twin Cats are by far the most original and entertaining group around town right now. Their smooth blend of funk, jam, jazz and imported rhythms make everyone move in some way, shape or form. Catch them hosting CT Peppers' open mic night every other Wednesday or at one of their many shows to see what I mean. If you do, you'll be hooked, though, so be warned. " —Michael Hunt

Thanks to everyone who came out last week to shows and/or bought our new live DVD.  Hope you enjoyed all the hard work that the legendary genius Steve Allen put into it.

We played our first ever show at the Jazz Kitchen on Wedensday May 2nd.  It was quite an experience to say the least.  What a great venue...I believe there is a live recording of the show on the archive at.... http://www.archive.org/details/tc2007-05-02.matrix.flac16   There are a few special guests worth noting  Rob Coates (Electric Guitar). David Allee (trumpet) and Rob Dixon (Alto, Tenor Sax)...Special thanks to Shawn for recording the show.

On Friday we played The Verve in Terre Haute.  Big thanks to the staff there.  One of the nicest groups we've run into.  Another highlight of this show was the dedication of a plaque on the back of the bar in the alley which designated it as a major crossroads in an alternate universe (this is not a joke).  The alternate universe is called Kymaerica and there were 30-40 people singing it's national anthem as were doing load in..... www.kymaerica.com.

Spin was a blast as well on Cinco de Mayo with the super smokin' good time rockin' bands Vibe Dial and the Henry French Band.  Big thanks to Ryan Brown of Vibe Dial for sitting in on "Salt Sandwich"......Love the staff there as well....Gideon is hot.

Don't forget we're playing this saturday May 12th at The Mousetrap. We all know how that goes.  So bring your drinking faces....This will not be a show to miss.
