Welcome! So i tried to post this last night but started nodding off cause of the vodka (Hangar Orange, way better than Absolut Mandarin btw). Current mood: optimistic
OK, so i did a blog last week but it never got posted, probably because i was drunks and hit the wrong button. Anyway, i go on a shot tour w/Imaad Wasif starting friday so another food journal will appear soon, and since i'll be in Portaland for awhile, expect a good one. On a local note, a brief rundown of what i've been enjoying lately:
Little Flower Candy Company in Pasadena: Great sandwiches and soups, very much like Auntie Em's pre douche era (i.e. now).
Torpedos at Quiznos: Never liked this place, but these are good, esp. for $4.00. Italian one is the best.
Got the Carmel Cheesecake things from Del Taco tonight. Very Nice. Imagine French Toast Sticks filled with cheese cake and caramel. Way better than their Jalapeno rings (avoid).
Lamburger @ bloom: Devine, especially with the garlic smashed potatoes.
Non food news: Mellow dramas is done, Best Coast is ruling so hard.

i know, i know - food blog. there maybe one later tonight, since i am about to go drinking. Life is crazy busy right now, but in the best way possible! Been working on tons of stuff with so many amazing people, here's a quick rundown:
Recording tons of Best Coast songs, they are great and can't wait for everyone to hear them. Best Coast is my friend Bethany's band. she was in Pocahaunted, but now this is happening and i am so excited to be a part of it.
Hitting the studio with Imaad Wasif this weekend to continue work on the follow-up to "Strange Hexes". Lots of new heavy rock coming.
Remixing 3 Howard Amb Songs.
Played bass on a Voices Voices track last night, really great song, a live favorite, so happy they asked me to play on it.
Contributing to the new Evangelista record.
Recorded with Dave Palmer for a new record he is doing. We had a burger together too. So fun!
Recorded some demos of a new band, Subtle Selves. check 'em out. really unique sweet songs.
Lastly, MY new solo record "Mellowdramas" is so close to being done i can taste it, and it tastes fuckin' sweet bro.

for the culinary atrocity known as the Kentucky Bourbon Burger. What crap. here's their description:
A Charbroiled, 100% Black Angus Beef Patty, Two Strips of Bacon, Pepperjack Cheese, Garlic-Pepper Onion Straws, Lettuce, Tomato Slices and Kentucky Bourbon Glaze.
Now, if they would have called it the Tenessee Whiskey Burger, i would have no problem with it cause the glaze is gross and sweet like that Jack Daniels shit sauce they use on everything at T.G.I. Fridays or like Jack Daniels in general (minus the gross banana aftertaste that real JD has). All they did was change the sauce on one of their other burgers. Of course i did finish it cause i had been drinking, but felt guilty afterwards. What pizza with pineapple is to Hawaiians....

Sometimes, after ordering 2 pizzas at once for a single person (me), you either feel like: A: "it's really over, and i've given up any hope of being in shape or attractive, but i will be at least be satisfied" or B: "I'm a genius because i can now have pizza anytime i want for the next 3 days!" Tonight is definitely B. Coming home to cold pizza after many drinks is one of life's great pleasures. Anyway, went to the Good Luck Bar tonight for the first time tonight. Nice place, weak pours and some of the slowest bartenders i have ever seen. Ugh. Good time despite all that, but to spend $40 and not be buzzed is saying something and it's not "Bobb, you have a problem." good jukebox though. I played "would?" by A.I.C. That's Alice In Chains for people who aren't in the know.
On the food side of things: Avoid the loaded hash browns at IHOP. They are not good. Imagine a Breakfest Hot Pocket taking a shit on a pile of potatoes. Indeed. They do serve a chicken fried steak the size of a large pancake though, so all is not lost. Arby's roast burger concept is next on the must try list.
Music stuff: New record almost done, lots of amazing guests that you will like. bunch of shows coming up, you should go to them. EP still availabe from vosotros.com or from me at a show or itunes, amazon, etc. hugs-bb

I know, i know, week six - the final chapter, is coming soon. Until then, a look at today's intake. Now i do love Bristol Farms, but today was a bit of a let down. No Pomagrand Limeade, No Gladcorn, No Greek God Ice Cream and the worst selection of heirloom tomatoes. it might as well have been Ralph's. My soup (bacon-potato chowder) sucked too. You really, really have to work hard to fuck up something where bacon and potatoes are the main ingredients. How do you do this? Just add dill! One of the worst herbs ever. Not even IMO, it's a fact. look it up. good for pickles and that's it. My Turkey Stilton sandwich was a bit better, though it had too much mango spread and the arugala was not so fresh. I hope they can redeem themselves. Even my hellman burger from pete's tonight was not it's usual greatness. Burger was not rare enough i think. Our story has a happy ending though, cause i tried their zepoli tonight and it fucking delivered big time. Nice golden brown zepolis atop some very good vanilla bean ice cream and some peaches(which coulda used a little more amaretto cause i'm a lush). At last the beast is satisfied! Come to my shows this week.
