Robin Rogers wins "Best Female Artist" Award November 5, 2009
Blind Pig recording artist Robin Rogers was the winner of the "Best Female Artist 2009" Blues Blast Music Award, as announced during the awards show at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago on October 29th. The celebrated vocalist was visibly moved by the announcement.
"I feel completely blessed and fulfilled to have been honored as the "Best Female Artist 2009" at the Blues Blast Awards ceremony," said Rogers. "I was brought to tears when they announced my name; this is the first national award I've won. Sincerest thanks to all who took the time to vote and participate in this fine gala affair. I was deeply humbled when Koko's Taylor's daughter, Joyce "Cookie" Taylor, handed me the award. What a fabulous evening it was, meeting new blues friends and hearing all that talent under one roof! Thanks to Blues Blast Magazine, Blind Pig, Piedmont Talent and of course, my amazing band. WOW, it feels good, baby!!!"
The Blues Blast Music Awards are given by Blues Blast Magazine, a free weekly internet blues publication read by over 13,000 blues fans in all 50 states and dozens of foreign countries. A list of nominees is assembled by a group of music industry professionals and magazine readers vote for their favorites. The only requirement for voting is to subscribe to the magazine.
Rogers' win follows her nomination for the "2009 Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year" Blues Music Award by the Blues Foundation. Rogers came to national attention with the 2008 release of her Blind Pig album entitled Treat Me Right. The national music magazine Hittin' The Note said, "This is the album that should make Rogers a household name among blues fans. It is both the past and the future of the blues. The journey that Robin Rogers seems destined for is just beginning." The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette added, "the album is consistently good - no matter what she sings. The pipes are soulful and gritty, sultry and sensual. The songs, mostly original, are all lovingly caressed by Rogers' expressive voice."

Hi Folks,
I felt it was important for me to tell you that Grin's has new owners and they're handling the cover charge differently than it was handled last time we performed there.
Last time there was a $5.00 cover charge.
This Friday night the new system works like this:
If you get there before 9 PM (our start time), it's $10.00 per person. If you get there after we start, it's $15.00 per person.
They have informed me that once you pay the $10.00 or $15.00 cover charge, you will then be able to drink all the domestic beer you want, all night long, for $ .25 each, all the imported and premium beer you want for $1.00 each and any liquor drink [no matter what] for $3.00 each.
I just wanted to let you know before hand so you would not be surprised by the new system. I do hope we see you there, but if you're not a big drinker, I completely understand if you don't stop in. There are no arrangements at this time for folks who don't drink, or drink very little, everyone must pay the cover charge.
Thanks,
Robin and the Hot Band
