I have been using Twitter for a while just to fire off updates about what IO have been up to and I was wondering if anyone else is interested in participating? Wikipedia defines Twitter as "a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send "updates" (or "tweets"; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website." I like to think of it as the haiku of blogging. It just takes a couple minutes to sign up and then just shot me your link. You can follow me at http://twitter.com/jonpape.

I'm going to start DJing at Rocky's on Friday nights w/ Ted Smith. I think Ted is going to play a lot of older British stuff and I'm just going to play some electro/minimal techno (go figure). Anyway, email MP3s to dangdatkat @ gmail dot com it you want to hear anything. No cover starts at 9PMish. IT WILL BE FUN.

I got sort of self concious looking at the new Smashing Magazine post this morning. I was wondering if I should redo my site. It's sort of hard to tell how cool it is from this screen shot but you can check it out at Jon Pape dot Com. I touched it up recently but it still feels a little "old school" (I was going to say "old style" but that may biase too many of my friends).

Most people wouldn't believe me if I told them, so when I heard the story on the History Channel, I had to go look it up on the internet. Cross referencing several resources: John Dillinger: The Life and Death of America's First Celebrity CriminalA Topical Directory of the History of Northwest Ottawa CountyI was able to find the spot in Grand Haven where "Baby Face" Nelson staged his first bank robbery. Apparently, it was such a mess and Nelson ended up unloading his Tommy gun right in downtown Grand Haven while running down the street.

I still haven't figured out how to switch my MySpcae profile back to American since I was browsing in Costa Rica. From the picture you can tell that most of the icons are still pretty easy to figure out. However, I can't figure out the profile options page to change it back or the "Estado de ánimo actual". Bummer. Which brings me to my second problem, I'm almost out of hot sauce, or more specifically, Chilero. It's hard to explain how it's different than hot sauce or tobasco. I guess I would describe is as light, sweet, and extremely hot. I've taken to adding it to everything and I'm almost out. I found some on Amazon but it is a lot of money for these retarded small bottles. Actually, I've already finished off one bottle and this is the second bottle so I had better figure out something soon.

I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I've noticed I've developed a weird habit. Maybe its because people are always telling me these bizarre ideas that need a lot of explaining. I realizedthat when people were telling me things, I would say "yes" or "ok" meaning "I understand". However, I some people were intrepeting me saying "yes" or "ok" as "I agree" which is how almost all Westerners interrupt the words. I'm trying to think of a good example. If Allen walked up to me and said "if you kick a cow in the balls it will fall down." I might reply "Ok" or "Yes" or "Yeah" thinking he had more to the story. I'm telling him "I understood" but not necessarily that I agree. Anyway. I got to thinking about this because of a post I saw in JList about " Auzuchi", or "the japanese tradition of saying yes all the time", and I was wondering if it is really that uncommon for Westerners.

On a whim I decided to checkout my MySpace page in Costa Rica. The computer changed my MySpace from USA to Costa Rica and it was in Spanish and it wasn't really a big deal so I dealt with it.
Now, I can't seem to get it back to English. As anyone knows who has ever tried to go through the uCheckout lanes at Meijer in Spanish, you can get away with not knowing the language for a while, but eventually, you're going to get stuck.
Anyway, I'm having a hard time figuring out my page and I've decided I really need to have more bilingual friends.
