I’m keeping this free till the end of the year.

Current mood:  thoughtful
So, 2009, as well as the first decade of the noughties is closing in.
How was it for you?
A lot of things happened and changed in my life during the decade for sure.

I’d like to thank you all for making the whole Fanu thing happen.
If it wasn’t for the support, love, faith, and respect from all my fans, I sure wouldn’t be where I am today.
I wouldn’t be writing this, for one thing!
I wouldn’t have travelled across Europe, America, Canada as well as Russia and made a huge load of friends wherever I’ve set my path.
I’ve been extremely privileged to get to travel so much for free and meet the coolest people, the most enthusiastic music lovers, DJs, promoters, record collectors, sample hunters, avid Fanu fans, and all kinds of cool people in general.

Looking back, I realize I’m so indebted to so many people for so many things.
It really takes so many more people than just me to keep “Fanu” going.

I want to thank:
-each and every person who’s ever bought my music in any form
-all those numerous breakbeat fans who have come to events where I’ve played and paid for an entry fee to support my act and hear what I’ve had to play
-all those people who’ve worked their asses off just to bring me over and built an event around that and paid for expensive flights just to let people hear my beats for a short, passing moment of time (an extra special mention goes to Chad Simer…I feel like I owe you a bucketload of favors!)
-everyone who’s made my traveling and stay memorable, worthwhile and enjoyable
-each and every individual who’s come to me and said hi and told me they like what I’m doing
-all those people who’ve said or done something nice to me, kept me company and made the sometimes so mundane everyday existence more tolerable
-every individual who’s said something supportive when I’ve questioned whether what I’m doing makes any sense or can be considered worthwhile
-my distributor S.T. Holdings for fulfilling one of my biggest dreams and making me realize I am an artist worth investing in.

All of you, I simply can’t thank you enough.
I wish I could – for it’s all of you that Fanu is made of in so many ways.
All you people, you know who you are.
Good karma will circulate, and I can only wish all the very best to all the good people who I’ve met on my path and I hope we shall meet again.
I’m wishing you all a very peaceful Christmas and an even better 2010.

I promise new music will surface in the new year for sure.

I love you all!

Maybe some of you have seen this already.
This isn’t even new, but someone brought up this track today, so I kind of ended up listening to it.
Here’s the track on Youtube, with a video edited and put together by a fan.
Afaik, it’s made of clips from a movie called “Fallen Angels”.
I love this video because it compliments the track so perfectly.
What’s best about the video is A: the couple riding the motorbike as well as B: the girl leaning on the washer.
A reflects the escapism as well as the connection with nighttime that i always feel when i write most of my stuff and B, in all its shortness, captures perfectly the feeling of the absolutely serene loneliness that’s always behind my creative drive.
I hope you enjoy the video and the track.

i gotta be honest and say i'm fucking discouraged:
the vinyl's selling very slowly
way worse than we expected.
i was excited about it and thought a package of different tunes would sell nice, but nah.

well, the distro didn't want to release a CD, and i don't think that was a good decision at all.

we really gotta shift more units to keep doing Lightless worthwhile.
if you've ever planned to get the vinyl, do so now at Juno, for example.
it's in all major stores.

getting the digi version won't hurt either...you can get it here

tough times for music sales, and it does make me think.

just feeling quite discouraged with the business side of things again, that's all.

I’m happy to announce I’m now starting to use Ableton Live 8!
This is because I’ve been thinking I’d like to take my productions to some logical next level, and after DJing for years (I’m not quitting that, though!) and making tracks in a standard sequencer way, I feel I’m ready and more than very eager to start crafting my productions in such way that I’ll be able to play them live.
That means I’ll be able to play parts, tracks, and sections of my tunes in any order I want and mix them with those of other tunes of mine.
Basically, I will connect my laptop/Ableton to a hardware mixer where I’ll be mixing tracks and whatnot to create a live experience....
I’m STOKED!!
It’ll be loads of beats, bass, loads of sample-mangling and all kinds of loop-foolery!
I think the main focus will be on non-dnb stuff: at least it won’t be all-dnb, that’s for sure.
It’ll be in the vein of what I’ve done so far, regardless of the tempo.
If you haven’t found out about Ableton Live yet, go to the Ableton site to find out what the fuss is all about!

P.S.: Don’t be expecting me to play live just yet, hehe.
I have just started, and it’ll take me at least a year to come up with enough material I’ll be happy with as well as expertise in the live field before I can start doing it…but it WILL happen, you can count on that…
Fanu live will be reality.

That track is the original version of "Tribes Remix" that was released on Warm Communications in 2005.
This track is seven years old, so judge accordingly, hehe! :D

I hope you dig
