Having both grown as strong independent acts that are now making waves around the world, The John Butler Trio and The Waifs are undoubtedly two of Australia's most prolific acts and they are thrilled to announce a special series of shows under the banner of 'The Union of Soul '.

These unique shows will take place in February next year. In Ballarat, the show will take place on Saturday February 2 in the beautiful surrounds of the lake. To join in for these special performances The John Butler Trio and The Waifs welcome Clare Bowditch and The Feeding Set, who's new album 'The Moon Looked On' has recently been released with critical acclaim. Opening proceedings will be young Ballarat locals Epicure, who's new single 'Cobra Kisses' is bouncing off airwaves at the moment and Brother B will provide a DJ set in between bands.

On Sunday February 3, the John Butler Trio and The Waifs will be joined by Archie Roach & Shane Howard; Melbourne Latin Band San Lazaro, Dan Sultan and his band ; AND BROTHER B at the stupendous setting of Churchill Island on the Philip Island Nature Park, on the Mornington Pensinuslar for the Chill Island Festival.

The Waifs are riding high with their new album SunDirtWater debuting at No.2 on the Aria charts and remaining in the top 20 for the last 8 weeks. The Waifs will be featured in one of the new episodes of Chaser War On Everything.They have recently completed a sell out tour of the nation, securing rave reviews for their concert performances.

It's been an extraordinary ride for the John Butler Trio this year with their new album 'Grand National; debuting at No. 1 on the ARIA charts in March. Since then the album has delivered three radio hit singles and gone on to be accredited for double platinum sales in Australia whilst the band makes incredible in roads into all major international territories. The album is also nominated for the prestigious J Award (Triple J's album of the year) which will be announced by Triple J later this year.
In April, the John Butler Trio recorded a very special performance at Melbourne's Federation Square which featured all the musicians who helped make the 'Grand National' album, we are pleased to inform fans this is now available on DVD through ABC Music.
In other recent news, The John Butler Trio took out two awards at the 21^st ARIA awards last weekend, those being for Best Blues and Roots Release and Best Independent Release, which coincidentally was presented by their good friends Vikki and Donna from The Waifs.

Donna and Vikki in particular have had their share in front of TV camera's recently, with both girls being interview by Andrew Denton on "Enough Rope" back in August, followed up by the experience of a 4.30am lobby call to get to the Channel 9 studios for two live performances and interview with Richard Wilkins on the "Today" morning show last month. And of course, the ARIAs last week when Donna and Vikki had the pleasure of presenting "Best Independent Release" to good friend, John Butler. Congratulations John for both awards.

Having both grown as strong independent acts that are now making waves around the world, the John Butler Trio and The Waifs are undoubtedly two of WA's most prolific acts and they are thrilled to announce a special series of shows under the banner of 'The Union of Soul '.

These unique shows will take place throughout WA in January next year with tickets on sale next Monday November 12.

The John Butler Trio and The Waifs will perform at The Fremantle Arts Centre on both Tuesday Jan 22nd and Wednesday Jan 23^rd. Then on Friday January 25^th both bands will be joined by special guest Clare Bowditch and The Feeding Set at the Belvoir Amphitheatre and the three band set will continue as the tour heads south with shows on Saturday January 26^th at the Madfish Winery in Denmark and on Sunday Jan 27^th at the Leeuwin Estate Winery, in Margaret River.

GREEN TICKET OPTION: The John Butler Trio 'Grand National' tour will be carbon neutral. Emissions associated with the tour (such as concert electricity generated from the shows, air and road transportation including touring party and freight) will be calculated and a reinvestment will be made into renewable energy projects. This will effectively balance out the impact the 'Grand National' tour will have on the climate and is a positive investment to assist the current situation of global warming. People travelling to the concert by carbon transport will be able to purchase a green ticket which will incur an extra cost of 50 cents – this money will also be donated to renewable energy projects to help make this a truly carbon neutral tour. For further information on this initiative, please visit the John Butler Trio website once the national tour has been announced.

The Waifs are pleased to announce the final shows on their SunDirtWater Tour. Big things are happening in the world of The Waifs!

The Aussie tour dates were amazing and we would like to send a big 'thank you' to all that attended and made the shows so special! Along the way we were also privileged enough to perform a classic Frank Ifield song at the Aria Hall of Fame ceremony, as well as taping an in-depth interview with Australia's premiere talk show host Andrew Denton. So be sure to stay tuned in the upcoming months for The Waifs special appearance on ABC's "Enough Rope"!

In other news, The Waifs stunning new single "Sun Dirt Water', will be in stores this weekend! If you pre-order the single now through www.musicplug.net/thewaifs you will receive a free, limited edition Waifs badge! The new single also features two special tracks "Trouble at my Door" and "Mess Around" that you wont be able to find anywhere else! All for only $5 plus postage.
