One of our stops on the Johnny Hootrock 09 tour was the famed Double Down Saloon in Las Vegas. Our performance that night was photographed and reviewed by Robert Mandoki, the Vegas correspondent for the LA-based music rag, Big Wheel Magazine. This is his take: The 4th band on the lineup was Johnny Hootrock with/BURLESQUE WITH
MISS RUBY JOULE and MISS COCO LECTRIC (from the Jigglewatts) They are
from Austin Texas. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from these guys.
Their set started out with this Burlesque type music from the 50’s, out
came Miss Ruby, who performed a little burlesque striptease. By this
point I was thinking what kind of music do these guys play? well once
they started it was very clear to me that they were Rockabilly as well
as The High rollers. But as their set rolled on it came clear to me
that their style of music was "PSYCHOBILLY"
These guys played fast and hard, and with the addition of Miss Ruby
and Miss Coco Lectric WHOOOOOO!!!! what a kick ass band. One of the
highlights of their set was when they played a song called "Vodka Shot"
Miss Ruby brought out shots of vodka and served the band while they
were jamming out this fast and furious tune! You can’t forget Miss Coco, She was outfitted in a Sailor type suit,
and various other outfits. In This reporters opinion they danced and
performed striptease as fast as the band played!! and they played
FAST! If you like Rockabilly then you will love PSYCHOBILLY. Another
great addition to this night of music. everything from Punk to
Psychobilly. And there were still 2 bands to go. HATS OFF TO MISS RUBY
AND MISS COCO LECTRIC.

The Jigglewatts *heart* sushi. That's no secret. We were downtown shooting on Saturday and wanted to try something new, so we stopped in at the beautiful Imperia. The sushi chef, Ron, is so charming and created a roll especially for us, containing escolar, salmon, avocado, green onions, roasted garlic, flying fish roe, and a spicy aioli. We named it the White Lightning Roll, and it is DELECTABLE! So next time you're down near 4th and Colorado, stop in and ask for a White Lightning Roll... don't forget the honey infused hot sake- it's a perfect compliment. Yum!!

"Drunken Hearted Woman" - This is the first music video for The Spoiled Royals, and was directed by the talented Jon Flynn of VIR Productions.
The gorgeous hot rod in the video belongs to the generous (and brave) Mark Ford. Enjoy!

The "Rock Me Amadeus Masquerade Ball" last Friday, presented by Lucy the Poodle Productions, turned out to be a huge success! Click below to see gorgeous photos taken at the ball by The Austin American Statesman's austin360.com! http://www.austin360.com/alist/mediahub/media/slideshow/index.jsp?tId=136481
See below for a review of the party...
.............. By Michael Barnes | Saturday, December 6, 2008, 10:06 PM Wouldn’t you know it? I stumble on the most photogenic social event of the season — and forgot my camera. It was the Rock Me Amadeus Masquerade Ball with Noise Revival Orchestra at the Beauty Bar on Friday was something to behold: Dozens of mostly young revelers dressed up in burlesque versions of carnival drag. Eighteenth-century wigs, bustiers, Venetian-style masks, frock coats — it was dress-up on a scale rarely seen on hipster Seventh Street. Summoning the spirit of Florenz Ziegfeld, Erte or Busby Berkeley, one costume doubled as a gown and a draped pastry display. Among the first performers — after the Southern Comfort hot hour — were practiced burlesque dancers, one performing adroitly to a naughty Eartha Kitt song (is that redundant?). And where did all these women in their twenties learn the art of a performance form that died out 40 years ago? Did every high school in Texas stage “Gypsy” during the past decade? Anyway, the show followed a vaudeville structure, climaxing with the marquee act, the Noise Revival Orchestra, a dozen or so young musicians who blend jazzy horns, soulful singing and an elevated soundtrack sensibility for long, symphonic songs. (One of the members dropped a flash drive on me at Ame Shillington’s D-List party earlier this year. Smart move.) By 1 a.m., I was totally hypnotized. My only complaint: The stage is too low for seated musicians. Only the first few people in the crowded club could see the whole action.

And we're off!!! Last night we had the honor of performing along with Luna Tart and Mistress Stephanie & her Melodic Cat at The Carousel Lounge. The Carousel is a much beloved neighborhood bar with a circus theme and a giant pink elephant at the back of the stage- absolutely perfect for burlesque and cabaret.
AND... we met a delightful lady who's putting together a Mermaid Parade and Carnival on Saturday- a benefit for the Coney Island Preservation Society- it seems the Coney Island mermaids are an endangered species. Well "Save The Mermaids!" I say. She invited us to come play with them on Saturday, so that's where we'll be.
This coming Monday, June 9 is another benefit- this one for the glamorous Cardinal Cyn over at The Continental Club. She broke her leg during SXSW and we're trying to get her up and shakin' again.
Well, onward!!!

What in the world is going on with those luscious livewires, The Jigglewatts?! Well, I’ll tell you. We’re recovering from a fantastic SXSW weekend, followed by a bout of the plague. Take your zinc and your vitamins, kiddoes- that spring fever out there is a doozy! But as they say, the show must go on...
Miss Ruby Joule is taking a short break from all things bump-n-grind in order to return to the theatre for a stint as Karen in David Mamet’s "Speed-the-Plow," going up at Austin Playhouse on April 17. Catch her in the role Madonna originated on Broadway in the 80s!!
The Jigglewatts are the proud donors of a custom art bra to the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas 2009 calendar. It will be modeled at a special runway show at the Design Center at Penn Field on April 26.
Several sparkling new Jigglettes are getting up to light-speed, including Violet Voltage, Champagne Shock and Goldie Raye. Look for them in pictures and on stage in the near future! As always, the lovely Coco Lectric and Cherry Zapp are keeping the bar raised high for the amount of jiggle and bling you can fit on one stage!
