The Conch Republic band is headed to the Conch Republic! They will be opening the Main Stage at the Casa Marina Resort during "Meeting Of The Minds" in FL on October 30, 2008 from 7-8:45 PM.
Each year in early November, the Parrothead Nation PHlocks to Conch Republic) for "Meeting Of The Minds". This weekend, (well-known in the Florida Keys and around the world as "the ultimate party with a purpose") draws 3,500 Parrot Head club members from as far away as Australia and Canada. The convention features trop rock music from top-notch bands across the country, even featuring the man "Jimmy B." himself, on the main stage in past years.
"It is such an honor to be invited to play at MOTM, especially on the main stage at the Casa," says lead singer, "Hollywood" Lacer. "This is something most bands work toward for YEARS to achieve, and comes as a bit of a surprise for a band as young as ours," he stated. Although the band is made up of seasoned musicians with many years in the business and even college degrees in music, the band was formed just two years ago, as a creation of band owners Michael "Panama" Thomas and Bobby "Hollywood" Lacer (both are members of both the Bluegrass & Cincinnati Parrothead Clubs).
Pulling together top musicians from across the state, Conch Republic was formed with musicians from Central to Eastern Kentucky. Currently, the band has members from Bardstown, Frankfort, Nicholasville, Lexington, Pikeville and Winchester. This "band of pirates" has been entertaining fans for the past sixteen-months across the Midwest and southern states – from Ohio to Alabama, from West Virginia to Mississippi and most all states in-between. Although the band is based out of Lexington, Kentucky, the "heart" of the band beats with a tropical flair that takes you down to the islands. With congas, steel drums, timbales and ukelele - added to the rockin' electric guitar, live drum kit and bass – they have the perfect blend for Trop Rock fun!
You can check out their original music, as well as cover tunes on their website at www.conchpartyband.com and right here at www.MySpace.com/conchpartyband. Both websites have their newest CD available, "Flip Flops and Bottle Tops", which is also available on CDBaby.com.

Myrtle Beach, SC - The party band from Lexington, Kentucky known as Conch Republic, as been named the headlining act for Saturday night of Parrotstock UNCAGED 2007 in Myrtle Beach.
This marks the eleventh year for the annual fundraiser and it will be held at Ocean Dunes Resort & Villa Thursday through Saturday, June 7-9. Registration is only $45 and you can register online at www.Parrotstock.com. All proceeds go to charity - Paramedics For Children.
So come out, help out a good cause, enjoy the weather, enjoy the bands, and rock out with the Conch Republic!!!
History of Parrotstock: In September of 1996 in a land far far away their came to be known an event called Parrotstock, and like it's name sake (Woodstock) was held on a farm outside Charlotte NC. Twas a Parrot Head Phlocking like no other. There was much drinking and so much fun was had that it took four full years before those who participated could once again venture forth. In 2001 the banner was once more raised high and over the next few years Parrotstock grew to be a Southeastern Regional Phlocking, held in alternating southeastern host cities each year.
Since then, Parrotstock has grown and is a major fundraising event for Paramedics for Children, benefiting children worldwide from its home base in Copan Ruinas, Honduras and Gastonia, NC, USA. The impact of the money raised at Parrotstock is amazing, each year you can see first-hand during the event from videos just how far a little will go. It's truly a party for a purpose. You will have a great time, and you can be a part of helping others.
Last year, the 10th anniversary of this annual fundraising event for Paramedics for Children raised the bar even more expanding from a Southeastern Regional Phlocking, to a music showcase for attendees worldwide. In 2006, Parrotstock raised over $17,000 for Paramedics for Children. This year, the Parrot gets loose...it's gonna be bigger, it's gonna be even better, it's gonna be uncaged!

Lexington, Kentucky's own Fire Station # 9 hosted a traveling party with the Conch Republic in the 2006 Fire Prevention Week Parade. The guys from the station did an incredible job, transforming a flat-bed truck into a "Little Bit o' Parrot-Dise"!
Working the stage/float like true Landsharks, the Conch Republic delivered their own brand of Trop Rock, while striving to maintain balance on the moving Tiki Bar.
Props out to all the bands that perform on floats during parades like Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade or the Cottonbowl Parade; it ain't as easy as it looks!

Countless tales abound surrounding the formation of the musical pirates known as the Conch Republic; tales of treachery, debauchery, mayhem and controlled insanity.
Hailing from the Port of Indecision, just South of Insanity, the Conch Republic turns every event into a little bit o' Margaritaville! But ye be warned, the Conch Republic is not for the timid and faint-of-heart. The Conch Republic is for the young and young-at-heart, wanting to let their inner-Parrothead/Pirate/Landshark, etc... come out to play.
So keep a weather eye open mates, and hold on tight. Thar be squalls ahead and guilty pleasures for all!

The Conch Republic was founded on April 23, l982, in response to a US Border Patrol roadblock on the Overseas Highway of the Florida Keys. All northbound traffic was stopped and searched for illegal aliens, and the ensuing traffic jam depressed Key Wests tourism industry.
In protest, Key West mayor Dennis Wardlow "seceded" from the Union and declared war on the US. After symbolizing the conflict by breaking a loaf of stale Cuban bread over the head of a man in a US Navy uniform, the mayor surrendered and demanded billions of dollars in foreign aid. As the US government never responded to the secession, locals have jokingly declared themselves dual citizens.
