Check out the Lords of Altamont's version of Jimi Hendrix' Can You See Me, produced by Michael Davis, on the cover-mounted tribute to Hendrix CD on the November issue of MOJO that is in stores Oct. 1st.  Look for a picture disc single with this very track in the near future...

The next band up was that band that I came to see, the mighty Lords of Altamont. I cannot stress enough to you how important it is for you to see these guys live. The first time I witnessed the Lords sonic assault was the Cramps show in San Diego this last year. I showed up about halfway into the set and was absolutely blown away! The Lords play a great mix of rock n roll, 60œs fuzzed out garage, and biker punk. I kicked myself for not showing up early enough to catch the whole set. Subsequently, I had to go get tickets for the next week in Los Angeles since the Lords were opening up for the Cramps again. I will never tire of watching Jake shut the hecklers up with his ruthless comebacks. This particular night was no different. Heckler during a lull between songs: "Lets go!" Jake: "Yeah, where are we going? Hey, this guy wants less talk and more cock”but his mouths not even open yet!" Needless to say, that guy was oddly quiet the rest of the set. The Lords of Altamont have been sounding REALLY fucking great every time I've seen them during the last few months. They've been playing an assortment of new songs and tearing up the old ones like never before. I noticed that Jake, vocals/organ, was back to his old organ set up. Thanks to Great White, you may never witness the flaming farfisa ever again. What a bummer! The Lords are currently working with Billy Zoom of X on some new recorded material to release. I can only hope that Mr. Zoom can capture their live energy in the studio. The Lords played some great songs this night, the newer, fuzzed out "$4.95", "Action", "Live Fast/Die Young", and an out of control cover of the Chambers Brothers tune "Time Has Come Today". I dare say that their version blows away the Angry Samoansœ version by about a thousand percent. Pick up their debut CD, "To Hell With the Lords" and set a day free on your calendar to come see the Lords play live. You will not be disappointed, that is unless you are a square, or perhaps brain dead. Might I add that I really dig the new back patches that the Lords were sporting on their jackets.
