I just put up a new recording of solo guitar, check it out. I hope you like it!
Please forgive me if it sounds like I just recorded it in my bedroom,
because I did. It's my arrangement of the old Jimmy Rodgers tune The
One Rose That's Left In My Heart that I've been working on for, um,
forever it seems like.

So I had this dream a while back and never got around to blogging it, but I'll try to remember all the pertinent details.
First you need a little background to understand the twisted paths of my psyche. You may or may not be aware, but Van Halen got back together for a tour with David Lee Roth this past summer (or thereabouts). So there was much rejoicing among Van Halen fans, Eddie and Dave patched things up, no more Sammy, etc. But, in a very soap opera-esque development, longtime bassist Michael Anthony was replaced by, get this, Eddie's 17 (I think) year old son Wolfgang. Apparently Eddie has hated Michael for years now and finally canned him after he started doing gigs with Sammy Hagar, who is persona non grata with Eddie. OK, still with me? In my dream, I'm at the back of the stage at one of these Van Halen shows, or maybe floating above the stage, like I wasn't actually there. I just had an omniscient view of the proceedings, god-style. For some reason, Wolfgang is singing lead on one of the songs, I can't remember which one but I think it was one of my favorites (Unchained? Cradle will Rock? Dunno). To make even less sense, Dave is at the back of the stage behind a curtain, singing backup on the song, but hiding from view as if he doesn't want to steal Wolfgang's moment. Which is obviously the last thing David Lee Roth would do. Anyway, that's it, I hope someone out there can figure out what this one means.

So the other morning I dreamed of Buck Owens. First I heard Love's Gonna Live Here Again playing, the original Buck version. I gradually became aware that I was sitting across (a desk?) from a very young looking Buck Owens, maybe in his twenties, wearing really thick black glasses. Everything was in black and white and he was in drab clothes, it seemed institutional. Were we in a library? A prison library, or visiting room? I'm not sure. So he was singing along with the recording, though I wasn't hearing his voice live, it was as if he were lip synching to his own song. Then everything started to change; he was still singing along but the music became metal-ified. The drums got all double-kick crazy and the guitars were doing the Metallica chug-chug-chug. And then I woke up. What does it mean?
