hi guys,

I forgot until very late I was on the Australian music quiz show "Spicks and Specks" last night,
Wednesday 28 October, so lucky I tevo'd it...
But for those without the great gift from God that is Tevo,
It airs again tonight at 8:00pm ESDT....Thats Eastern standard daylight....blah blah.

It was a pretty damn funny show, with fellow guests Denise Scott, CW Stoneking, and Hamish Blake all in on the ass jokes, you'll know what I mean if you've seen it!!!!!!!

Dad brought out the Ocerina this morning in celebration of the shows content aka joseph Pujol ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_P%C3%A9tomane

and he can hold a tune quite well FYI.

Mum said: He's not looking for that Ocerina is he?"
as we heard him rustle through his junk bag of musical goodies in the spare room.
"Ah Huh!!!" he rejoiced...
And out came the most beautiful rendition of "The Skye Boat Song"....

But then he left the Ocerina on the kitchen table afterwoods,  oooo yuck!!!!

Spicks and Specks
EPISODE 40
encore presentation tonight,
Thursday 29th October, 2009
08:00pm, ESDT on ABC2

This week on Spicks & Specks our Special guests are singer/songwriter Jordie Lane , the hilarious Denise Scott, Hokum blues singer CW Stoneking and the always entertaining Hamish Blake

Myf's Team

Jordie Lane is only young, but his skills with the guitar, ability to transfer his experiences into lyrics and strong voice have grown him quite a following over the last few years. In 2005 he released his first EP Ill Communication followed in 2006 by the EP Lovers Ride which received great support on the radio by stations such as Triple J, RRR and PBS. The last 4 years have seen him collaborate with Jeff Lang and Tim Hall to produce his first LP Sleeping Patterns which has recently been released.
Blonde-haired and bushy-tailed, Denise Scott braves Spicks & Specks with her brilliant suitcase of unravelling stories once more. A self-professed expert on family life, this Melbourne comedian brings a refreshing style of comedy inspired by everyday domestic stories and topical observations we can all relate to. In previous stand-up routines she’s told the public how she got drunk at her son's fourth birthday party, how she once adorned his skateboard with daggy decoupage, and how she worried when he discovered lawn bowls at 15.

Alan's Team

Hokum blues singer CW Stoneking was born to America parents in Katherine Northern Territory, at the age of 9 his family moved to Sydney and by 11 he had started to play the guitar. Listening to blues artists such as Blind Willie McTell and Memphis Minnie his interest in their style of music started to develop. At 23 he started to perform his style of blues solo, but soon formed a band called The Blue Tits which stayed together until the death of their mandolin player. In 2005 he released an album called King Hokum which was made up of all original blues. In 2006 he formed the band The Primative Horn Orchestra and in 2008 he released his latest album Jungle Blues.
Spick’s most popular guest,Hamish Blake, began his adventure into the world of comedy with best mate Andy Lee. Their radio show, The Hamish & Andy Show is one of Australia’s most listened to radio shows. Never short of hilarious sketches and stunts, they continue to find new ways to entertain their listeners. Hamish has become somewhat of a regular on Thank God You’re Here and has a regular spot with Andy on Rove.

nominated for "Album of The Year" for the EG Awards- help me
I've never been into competitions and stuff,...
well not since my pre-broken voice days of talent quests at rodeos, but this is different.

I just found out I have been nominated for "Album of The Year" for the EG
Awards, which for those in other parts of the world is the music lift-out in one of Melbourne's major Newspapers,  The Age.... if you like my record Sleeping Patterns or maybe Empire Of The Sun (although the idea is to vote for me), click this link at the bottom
(or paste it in the browser) to vote for me...it closes in a few days
but it will take one second.....so do it!!

VOTE FOR SLEEPING PATTERNS BY JORDIE LANE here:

then click Slepping Patterns-Jordie Lane
then "vote" and you are done

Im not sure if they have pointy things or gold statues as the prize but thanks for the help.

Jordie Lane is pleased to announce he and his band will play their last( and first since June album Tour) headline tour of the year this November and December.

Performing a series of Sunday shows, Jordie Lane will play Sunday 22 November (matinee) at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, Sunday 29 November at the Troubadour in Brisbane, and Sunday 13 December at The Vanguard in Sydney.

Tickets for the Melbourne gig go on sale today, Thursday 1 October from the Corner Box Office, and the Sydney and Brisbane gigs go on sale Thursday 8 October from the Vanguard Box Office and Oztix.

After releasing his highly acclaimed debut album Sleeping Patterns in June, Jordie has gone on to sell out album launches across the country, perform with Clare Bowditch in London, and is now in the middle of an Australian tour with rock legend Tex Perkins.

Lauded as one of the most remarkable debut releases from a local musician, Sleeping Patterns was co-produced by Jeff Lang and Tim Hall and had been brewing in the subconscious of Jordie’s mind for four years. Recorded in little more than five days, the album features storytelling at its rawest, gutsiest, and most fragile.

Following the release of Sleeping Patterns in Australia, where it was Album of the Week on 3RRR, Radio Adelaide, ABC 702, DIG Radio, and Radio National’s ‘The Daily Planet’, Jordie hightailed to Europe where he became stranded in Paris with only two pounds to his name, lost his mind in Amsterdam, and ate nothing but kebabs in Germany. In between such dilemmas Jordie managed to fit in performances in Berlin, Paris, and Germany, as well as a full-house gig at Hoxton Bar in London with Clare Bowditch.

Upon his return to Australia Jordie immediately jumped straight into a national tour with Tex Perkins and has also been announced to perform at the 2009 Falls Festival in Lorne.

Jordie is pleased to be back on home soil and performing his last headline shows in Australia for the year. Don’t miss Jordie Lane and his band play a series of Sunday performances on the East Coast this November and December.

"One of the most assured debut albums by a Melbourne singer-..songwriter
in recent memory”.
- Patrick Donovan, The Age (4 ½ stars)

“Jordie Lane confirms his reputation as one of the country’s brightest new roots music stars”
- Martin Jones, Rhythms Magazine

It's been almost a year since a Jordie Lane Band show in Melbourne, So finally he will bring together a brand new group to play a headline at The Empress on Saturday 9th August.

After just finishing the long anticipated debut album 'Sleeping Patterns', produced by the Aria Award winning team of Jeff Lang & Tim Hall, Jordie and the band will preview some of his new material from the record.

Featuring Steve Hesketh ..s (Jet, Spicks & Specks), and Roger Bergodaz on Drums(Sime Nugent),
they will be joined by Chris Pickering & Band from Brisbane and Young Werther from Melbourne who opens the night.

The last 3 band shows Jordie has done in Melbourne have all sold out, this shall most likely be a similar scenario,
So as there are no pre sales punters may want to roll up early as space is limited.

"Lane has developed a brand of music unique to Australia, one that has one foot firmly planted in the traditions of candid country-folk music, whilst the other foot steps across boundaries, unafraid to visit contemporary themes.

"
Martin Jones
Managing Editor, Rhythms magazine
Staff Writer, Drum/Inpress

"What a great discovery! Jordie Lane sounds like he's absorbed the works of the great songwriters and is now able to speak with the same authority in his own music.

Jeff Lang

"Lane touched listeners with his earnest tales of love and loss, and humbled us with his gentle demeanor…capturing all with the raw emotion of his performance"
Beat Magazine

"From the opening words of his heartfelt, simple Sweet Somebody to the final notes of Died lookin' at you I felt like I was on a journey somewhere between Hank Williams and Ryan Adams, somehow familiar and yet wonderfully new"
