ANDREW W.K. TO BE HONORED BY HARVARD LAMPOON:

The legendary Havard Lampoon voted Andrew W.K. their Entertainer of The Year and invited him to become an honorary member of their society and private club.

Andrew joins an impressive list of entertainers and personalities also made honorary members over the years, including James Brown, Bill Cosby, Paris Hilton, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Aerosmith, and Winston Churchill, among others.

Andrew was the special guest at a secret ceremony and banquet held at the Lampoon's famous castle headquarters on Tuesday, Sept. 1st, located in the heart of the Havard campus, in Cambridge, Massachusettes. 

The Havard Lampoon was founded in 1876 at Havard University - it exists to this day as a printed publication, website, and social organization.

Andrew says: "This is an incredibly great honor from an incredibly great organization. Thank you to the Havard Lampoon for their recognition. Party Harvard!"

After the success of Andrew's 2008 release of Japanese pop rock covers, Andrew W.K. was approached by Sunrise Inc., the owners of the Gundam franchise, to record an album of classic Gundam music, to celebrate Gundam's 30th anniversary. The album of English-language rock covers will be released on September 9th, in Japan, by Andrew's longtime label, Universal Music Japan.

The release will feature the music from the first "Mobile Suit Gundam" television series and movie trilogy, as well as Andrew's versions of the Gundam score and background music, plus Andrew will reenact Gundam's opening narration and the famous memorial speech that the Gihren Zabi character gives for his fallen brother. The album's front cover features original artwork by respected Gundam illustrator, Akira Yasuda. The image depicts Andrew flying through space next to the Mobile Suit Gundam. The album's design also features special photographs by Andrew Strasser.

Stimulating all parts of your brain, A.W.K. and Calder Quartet have teamed up to perform a collaborative show, mixing reverence with irreverence, and offering their audience a chance for both rapt listening and raucous dancing. Challenging music lovers to explore their comfort zones, A.W.K. and Calder Quartet perform together towards a liberated and impassioned definition of art.

The collaboration began at the acclaimed Wordless Music Series in New York City, where they received favorable coverage and critical response, including write ups in both the NY Times and LA Times. A.W.K. and Calder Quartet had original works commissioned by The Explorers Club, premiered at the Club's renowned annual dinner in New York City. Andrew's brand new T.V. show is called, "Destroy Build Destroy" and it's debuting on Cartoon Network this coming Saturday, June 20th, 2009, at 8:30pm.

The show features Andrew as host, cheerleader, and coach, as he works with two teams of teenagers to blow stuff up, and then build from the wreckage.

Andrew also created music for the show, and appears in Cartoon Networks advertisements for its new season of "REAL" programming.
