It's sad to know and even worst to have to say that the "Chaoz Day 2007 festival" on which we spent all our time and money during the last 7 months and that was going to be the biggest punk festival ever organized by the own punx in Brazil is not going to happen.
Last December 04, the local police has "invaded" the small farm on where the festival was supposed to happen, locked its doors for undetermined time and cancelled the festival. Some of us (promoters) have been arrested under the accusation of "bringing people to the culture of the violence" (weird) and "unnecessary violent content", because some of the bands names such as "Luta Armada" (Armed Fight), "Estado de Guerra" (War State) or "Herdeiros do Ódio" (Heirs of the Hatred).
The Chaoz Day would happen next December 08 and 09 and 25 bands were going to play on it; there would be also a "zine workshop" and video documentaries about the history of the brazilian punk scene. The whole event would be recorded (video and audio) for a possible DVD and CD.
It would be the first time the brazilian punk scene has a festival like that… 2 days of music plus a punk encampment (everyone would sleep at the place since the event would start at 12:00 PM, Saturday and end at 8:00 PM, Sunday).
The reason for me to write this is to say "I'm sorry" to the punx who were coming from other countries (especially to the band IRA, which came from Colombia) and also to explain a bit more about our situation and "daily life" as punx in a third-world country.
Even in a "supposed new world" we are still living under the same "dictatorship" as 30 years ago…
WE WILL KEEP THE FLAMES BURNING!!!
