We are happy to announce that Justin Murphy will be playing with An Triúr starting Saturday November 24. We are playing at Brophy's Irish Pub, in downtown Gainesville. Mick Richmond has moved to Oregon to pursue his architecture. We wish him well, and look forward to seeing, and playing with him on his visits to Florida. Justin is a world class flute player, bodhrán player, and singer. We are happy to welcome him on board as our new member. Please come out and give us a listen.

Merry Christmas to everyone on our list. We finnished up our gig last night with a bang. Thanks to everyone that has come out to hear us live, and also to everyone who has purchased our debut CD or iTunes downloads. We are getting ready to have another batch pressed. I am sorry if you missed us on Thursday October 5th. We had a great crowd at Durty Nelly's, and we had a blast too. The crowd really packed in for the 2nd and 3rd sets. There were people dancing, and I mean "dancing" through our last set right up until closing time. We played an old Talking Heads favorite to end the night. Psyco Killer by an Irish trad band with a rowdy crowd was the perfect way to celebrate the University of Florida Homecoming weekend. See you all 'round the block, and remember .....Nuar a bhíonn an cat amuigh!

We released our new CD "Three People" at the Atlanta Irish Arts Festival the weekend of 9/15.

Look for a feature in an upcoming edition of the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast, (subscribe through iTunes) or just go buy it at www.CDBaby.com/antriur

You can also preview each track at CDBaby. We've had a great couple of weeks bandwise, and are taking a week or two to regroup. Our gig at Durty Nelly's on last thursday went quite well, and we'll be back there again soon.

We are mastering the cd and getting it off for pressing. It has been a great learning experience for An Triúr, and this will hopefully show in our live performances. Our recording engineer Ron Richter really knows how to bring out the true sound of Irish music. He listened to us playing live in a room, asked a few questions, listened to our favourite cds, and then presto change o . For those of you planning on purchasing our cd you are in for a treat. There is a mixture of true live recordings, tracked studio takes, an original song by Mick, and even a mic check from me that turned out to be pretty cool. I played a slow air and a reel on my C whistle to set levels one evening before we started, next thing I knew one take was all I needed.
I hope to see all of our regular fans and a few new ones soon. I am back from Ireland, ready for Mississippi, and then Denver, and finally Atlanta/ Roswell for our gig on Sept. 16.

Slán anois!

As Larre said, we've got all our tracks in the can, and we've posted rough mixes of a few of the tunes on our myspace page. There are 10 tracks altogether, and we're pretty happy to be done with that part. Artwork is coming together, and we should make our pressing deadline so we'll have disks to sell at our next show in Atlanta.

We've been all over the place this summer. Mick was in portland Oregon, where he sat in on a session at Biddy McGraw's. He returned with about a week to spare before John headed to a trad music workshop in the catskills. Then, right about when he returned, Mick headed back out to Michigan, where he found a terrific session at Conor O'Neal's in Ann Arbor (thanks to everyone there for a great time!) Now Larre is headed out for a trip to Ireland, The Netherlands, and then out to Colorado before we meet up again to do our show in Atlanta.

So, last night we spent another 4 hours working on our forthcoming recording project. Tracking went great for two songs, and John nailed an air on the pipes. Already in the can - we have four reel sets and two jig sets. We have some re-tracking to do on a few of those, but two of them are basically done.

The Uilleann Pipes remind me of an electric guitar sometimes - like Jimi Hendrix's version of the national anthem, or possibly the lead-in guitar solo to the song "Anthrax" by Gang of Four. I'm basically a rock person, so all my references are back to rock and punk music. After all, it was the Pogues who first got me interested in Irish Trad in the first place. Even though purists don't consider them Trad - at least they got me hooked.  -mick
