Symphonic Rock's Erik Norlander, Lana Lane Featured on Multimedia Project Terra Incognita Novelist Kevin J. Anderson aligns epic fantasy novel with progressive rock CD
El Dorado Hills, CA - Symphonic rock's Erik Norlander and Lana Lane have joined forces with internationally bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson (Dune novels with Brian Herbert, Star Wars and X-Files novels) for a groundbreaking crossover novel and progressive rock recording project titled Terra Incognita. Anderson has created an incredible fantasy universe with sailing ships, sea monsters, and the crusades. Erik Norlander, an accomplished keyboardist/composer and a founding member of progressive rock band Rocket Scientists, joined the project upon its inception to pen the music and produce the recording after a meeting with Anderson and Shawn Gordon of ProgRock Records. Norlander's wife, Queen of Symphonic Rock Lana Lane, was recruited as the lead female vocalist.
"The 'Terra Incognita' project is really the perfect convergence of spirits," affirms Norlander. "I have been a fan of Kevin's novels for some time, and Kevin enjoys many of the CDs I've produced. Normally we would have a hard time collaborating as we really work in different media. But we found a common link in ProgRock Records chief, Shawn Gordon, with whom I have worked for several years as both my label distributor and general comrade-in-arms. Shawn brought us all together for a lunch meeting last year, and that was the catharsis for this excellent project. This is surely a unique exercise in mixed media, and I'm thrilled to be involved."
John Payne (ASIA Featuring John Payne) is featured as a vocalist on the project. Norlander became an official member of ASIA Featuring John Payne at the end of 2007, and has been touring and recording with Payne since that time. A special live performance featuring John Payne and Lana Lane as special guests with Norlander's Rocket Scientists band is scheduled for Saturday, March 28th at The Winchester in Cleveland, Ohio. http://www.thewinchester.net
Other Terra Incognita vocalists include James LaBrie (Dream Theater) and Michael Sadler (ex-Saga). Additional musicians include David Ragsdale (Kansas), Gary Wehrkamp (Shadow Gallery), Chris Quirarte (Prymary), Kurt Barabas (Under the Sun), Mike Alvarez (Erik Norlander CDs), and Chris Brown (Ghost Circus) with Shawn Gordon (ProgRock Records) as executive producer. Collectively, this creative team has sold over 40 million units worldwide.
Terra Incognita is a synergistic project unlike anything ever seen in the publishing and music business - an original novel and original CD from the same author. Anderson developed and expanded one of the novel's storylines to form the basis of an epic rock CD under the band name Roswell Six. He and his wife, bestselling author Rebecca Moesta, wrote all of the lyrics to the songs.
Terra Incognita is available now for pre-sales through ProgRock Records at http://www.progrockrecords.com/artists/view.php?id=116. The CD will ship in late April and the novel titled Terra Incognita: The Edge of the World by June. Street date for brick and mortar retailers is June 2, 2009. Special bundling and discounted offers will also be available on the ProgRock site along with a limited amount of autographed copies.

Songwriter Erik Norlander embraces new "Revolution Road" rendition
El Dorado Hills, CA - The acclaimed all-female Japanese theater company Takarazuka has used the Rocket Scientists song "Revolution Road" in its fall production of "Adieu Marceille/Love Symphony" which ran in Tokyo from September 21 to October 29, 2007. "Revolution Road" was used in the production alongside compositions by John Coltrane, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mercer, and Cole Porter. A live CD of the production was release on December 20, 2007.
"Revolution Road" songwriter Erik Norlander comments, "It was a real thrill to hear my music played in this context with such a lavish orchestral arrangement. I particularly enjoyed the dramatic horn parts which reminded me of the famous John Barry James Bond scores. Also, to be included in a production next to such legendary jazz composers is a tremendous honor for me." "Revolution Road" was released November 7th, 2006 on the epic 2CD album of the same title by American progressive rock legends Rocket Scientists. An extraordinary blend of melodic and memorable songwriting with adventurous instrumental fireworks, "Revolution Road" took the band to new heights of artistic achievement. The CD features founding members Mark McCrite (guitar, vocals), Erik Norlander (keyboards) and Don Schiff (NS/Stick) along with special guest performers.
Think Tank Media has just released a 5-disc multimedia box set called "Rocket Scientists - Looking Backward" that reissues the band's first three studio albums along with a fourth disc of new studio recordings and a DVD of in-studio performances, extensive interviews and historical footage.

Rocket Scientists Announce "Looking Backward" 5-Disc Multimedia Box Set California prog rockers revisit their back catalog with an exceptionally grand release (November 26, 2007) Acclaimed California prog rock band Rocket Scientists has announced the release of Looking Backward, a multi-disc package that reissues and revisits their back catalog in grand fashion. Looking Backward contains expertly remastered CD editions of the band's first three studio albums; Earthbound (1993); Brutal Architecture (1995); and Oblivion Days (1999) along with bonus tracks on each disc. All of the original artwork is included in the package as part of a full-color 64-page 5x7 book. The Looking Backward book also contains thorough liner notes and commentary from the musicians along with extensive photos by Raj Naik, Neil Zlozower and Scott Streble. To complete the Looking Backward package, the core Rocket Scientists musicians, Mark McCrite (v,g), Erik Norlander (k) and Don Schiff (Stick), returned to the same Los Angeles area studio where they recorded the early albums and commenced a series of new sessions with drummer / percussionist Greg Ellis who appears on Norlander and Schiff's solo albums as well as on the Rocket Scientists OBLIVION DAYS album from 1999. The quartet recorded a new disc of "live in the studio" material where they reinterpreted songs from the band's early studio albums, some with the benefit of over 15 years of perspective. This fourth disc, "The 2007 Sessions", chronicles those recordings. Additional unreleased material recorded over the years was added to "The 2007 Sessions" disc including a special version of the Rocket Scientists classic, "Mariner", with guest vocals from long time Erik Norlander collaborator, Kelly Keeling. Two songs from the Oblivion Days album, "Escape" and "Break the Silence", were also remixed especially for "The 2007 Sessions" disc. But the band didn't stop there. Producer Erik Norlander brought in an HD video crew to film "The 2007 Sessions", and these live-in-the-studio performances appear in the Looking Backward package on the fifth disc, an NTSC region-free DVD. The DVD also includes lengthy interviews with the band as well as historical footage going all the way back to the first album recording sessions in 1992. Norlander also filmed a bonus featurette, "An Afternoon with Emmett Chapman "where Stick maestro Don Schiff discusses his groundbreaking instruments with their creator, inventor Emmett Chapman. The band has posted three videos from the Looking Backward release on their YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/rocketscientists. They have also posted four of the new recordings on their MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/rocketscientistsband. Looking Backward is a superb collection of Rocket Scientists recordings packaged on a grand scale. Fans of Rocket Scientists, Erik Norlander and progressive rock in general will find this to be an essential part of their CD and DVD collection. Worldwide Release Date: December 17, 2007 on the Think Tank Media label distributed by ProgRock Records. http://www.thetank.com/rocketscientists.htm For further information please contact Think Tank Media publicist Sandy Serge at SergeEnt@aol.com.
