Amazon.com is currently promoting their MP3 download service by offering a few free tracks to try it out. You've GOT to snag Brian Setzer's "Take a Break Guys" from his latest Christmas CD A Swingin' Christmas. It's a big band take on the traditional "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" with a surfy melody, '70s style hooks and a  psychadelic guitar solo. Seriously. Just when you think he's gone as far as he could go with the Christmas thing.

Get it here: Take a Break Guys

Oh, and as for Amazon's download service, I like it a lot better than itunes so far. You get an MP3 that is compatible with everything, and they're undercutting itunes prices by about 10% (for now at least).

My friend Elenir has been spreading the word about another free song that's available  -  a brand new track from Queen and Paul Rodgers, "Say It's Not True." The song was written for Nelson Mandela's HIV AIDS campaign... info on the cause and why the track is free (as well as the download) at the link: Say It's Not True

Finalists in the Death Sentence poster contest... I didn't enter, but I voted. :P

http://www.deathsentencemovie.com/poster_contest/entries.php?g2_itemId=19301

I'm surprised that my favorite didn't make the Finals, because it had a lot of votes and a very high rating... I think entrants can only have one poster in the Finals, which is fair, I guess. The person who did my favorite also did "DS1 BY DAN MECCA," the shattered glass one, which is also a favorite. I hope either that one or "one" wins.

I won an informal contest on Jessica's movie blog on foxatomic.com the other day! A Six Degress of Kevin Bacon contest, lol. I'm not sure what I won, it was a "Hills Have Eyes 2" givaway, and she said "maybe" she'd throw in something Death Sentence too... hopefully! Either way, it's free stuff, so I won't complain... but some DS promo would be sweet.

I'm thinking of doing one of two things with dontstopthenoise.com... I am either going to expand it to include lots of different music and bands, or I'm going to keep the AWK focus, with various fan bloggers posting regularly.

The old format hasn't really been relevant in a while. If you're interested in contributing to the new DSTN (either format), let me know.

Yeah, so... Death Sentence is at Comic-Con... tomorrow... fuck. I mean, it'll be awesome. I just don't understand why I'm never there... I know it's going to be awesome every year. But this year it's got Garrett. Damn.

It's a birthday party at a club in NYC... don't know how easy it will be to get in (space is limited), but here's their Myspace page with info, and where you can RSVP:

Marky Mark got nominated for an Oscar? I somehow missed that until reading the Oscar rundown on cracked.com (the only Oscar rundown I'll read - this year's isn't half as funny as last year's). Pf... fine, they actually nominated someone I actually like (Ok, I like Kate Winslet, too), but it should have been a Leading Role nomination for "Invincible." I mean, "The Departed" sounds like it could be cool, from the name, but it would take a lot more than 2 minutes of Marky Mark to get me to watch a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio AND Matt Damon in it. Seriously.

Stupid Oscars. I hope that American Idol girl wins, though, just because. And Eddie Murphy, but that's really a vote for "Cill My Landlord."

Happy A.W.K. Day!
