Current mood:  hopeful
Hello all! I just want to write to let you know that some changes are on the way for Forget-Me-Not benefit music series.  The Forget-Me-Not benefit music series was originally created 3 years ago in memory of my dad, Charles E. Majors, and to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association.

For the past 3 years and with 15 shows under my belt, that has been the main focus.  However, the series has changes under the way.  I am working at making Forget-Me-Not into an actual foundation.  Plus, it will now help to raise money for Alzheimer's AND MS.  Why the addition of MS? Well, I was diagnosed with MS in May.  Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is.  Life can throw you curve balls and what a eye-opening experience to realize how quickly life can change.  However, I'm not going to feel sorry for myself and I don't want you to feel sorry for me, either.  Instead, I ask for your support in this.  No matter what, I'm going to fight this disease.  This new battle and challenge in my life.  I refuse to except what's in the books and what the internet tells me.  And, I refuse to let this disease steal from me my joy.  One day, I may lose my ability to walk, but it's not taking my happiness from me.  The way I see it is I had no choice about getting this disease, it just happened.  However, I DO have a choice how I react to it.  I can either sit around feeling sorry for myself and push others away, which does absolutely no good or I can chose to fight it and remain optimistic that one day there will be a cure.  So, I chose to fight and live my life to the fullest.  I no longer take ANY day for granted.  Each day that I am here and I'm walking, is a good day.  I have a greater appreciation for all things in life now and I don't let a day pass where I'm not thankful for that day and give thanks to God.  God never promised us that this life would be easy, but He said that if we allow Him into our lives we will never be along.  I know I'm not alone in this.  I have my faith, my family and my friends to help me through.  Although the road ahead for me is uncertain, one thing for certain is I will not give up or in!  The work with Forget-Me-Not is continuing, and now more than ever I am determined to make a difference.  Please be on the lookout soon for bigger and exciting things on the horizon!

My hope is that one day there will be a cure for both of these diseases and no one else has to suffer.  I hope you'll support the changes ahead and if you think you can help out in any way, please message me, I'd love to hear from you.

Current mood:  happy
Farewell to 2008!
Current mood: happy

Well, just to write a little since the year is about to draw to a close and seems appropriate. It's been a year with some ups and downs, but mostly ups! I can't complain. It was the year that I turned 40 and wasn't too thrilled about it, but thanks to many wonderful friends, it wasn't TOO painful for me and we had a good time doing it! Hell, I got to celebrate my birthday 6 times in 2 days! Who can complain about that?!? lol Ended the year with a BANG with the last Forget-Me-Not show on Saturday! We had a wonderful time and completely packed the house! Had fun afterwards, too! Anyway, I just know that I am truly blessed with the good friends and family in my life. I've got some of the best around and hope to maintain those friendships for many more years to come. Of course, my family is ALWAYS stuck with me! haha Anyway, if you've got that (good friends and family), you can get through anything! I firmly believe that if you enter into everything with the right attitude and intentions, and believe in yourself, there's nothing that you can't accomplish! Life throws you curveballs all the time and nothing is quite what you ever expect, like a rollercoaster, BUT you just keep plugging away, believe that you CAN do whatever, try to stay positive and optimistic, and surround yourself with good people....that's what's going to carry you through life with sanity and happiness. Everything is what you make of it. Anyway, here's looking towards an even better year in 2009! 2008 was good and 2009 will be even BETTER...whatever it may bring!

P.S. Oh, and here's the video that I just put together for Forget-Me-Not. It features an original song by hit songwriter (I believe he has 10 number 1 hits under his belt), Stewart Harris given to use for the series, some educational information about Alzheimer's to heighten awareness and then live footage from the most recent show at the Bluebird on Dec. 27th where we sold it out! Nothing but standing room only, people lined up all around the walls and door! It was awesome! Wonderful night of music! :) If you want to post it on your profiles, send a bulletin out about it or anything. I would LOVE that! Just want to continue getting the word out about the series and heighten awareness about this awful disease.

Ok, so it's now 313am and I have STILL not wound down from the night's activites! Just got home little over an hour ago after enjoying the rest of the evening with good friends for some good food then karaoke! And, YES, I did sing and my singing was TRULY awful, but we had fun and that's the whole point, right?!? lol Anyway....

What can I say but what an amazing night we had of Forget-Me-Not at the Bluebird Cafe! Seriously could NOT have asked for any better! I had great singers and dear friends involved. We sold out the Bluebird tonight! Had people standing all the way to the door, a line outside, and I feel so bad but some friends that I haven't seen since high school came tonight and they were turned away because it was too full! I LOVE the fact that we were too full, but disappointed that I didn't get some see 2 friends that I haven't seen for years who were coming to surprise me since were in town and don't live here anymore.... :( Thanks to Facebook, I have been able to reconnect with many friends from both high school and college that I had lost touch with. The Bluebird Cafe was so pleased with tonight that we have been invited back to do the late show with them, which is the most coveted spot! I was actually warned by the staff prior to the show to not be disappointed in my turnout because tonight after the holidays is traditionally their slowest night of the year. Well, I was willing to accept the challenge of filling it and risk it. Anyway, far exceeded my expectations and everything went off without a hitch! We had a wonderful night of music and a great audience! I loved it and will will definitely be back at the Bluebird soon! :)

Thank you again to all of my wonderful friends who sang or just came to support me! You're friendship and support means the world to me! I hope you all had as much fun as I had! :)

Just wanted to let you guys know about a couple of new songs written about Alzheimer's. Paige Logan from Mollyjack wrote a beautiful song called "She Didn't Know Me" and then she got her friend, Stewart Harris, to send me another pretty one called "I Will Remember For You". I'm grateful to both of them for sharing their talent and writing these special songs. Please check them out here on this profile
