Like many others across the world, I'm deeply saddened by the news that one of my idols, my inspiration and one of the best artists that the world has seen, untimely passed away last week.  I still don't want to believe the news, but it's clear now that this is a dark and unfair reality.  Michael Jackson has touched millions of hearts around the world and inspired several generations of artists with his genius - it's sad to see that the words of his own song 'Gone Too Soon' are now part of Michael's reality. 

I'm amazed that this news about someone who I regretfully never met in person had such an intense effect on me and the world - simply through his music, his dance, his spirit.  I had to pay tribute to the King Of Pop and couldn't think of a song better than, 'Fade Away'.  This was going to feature on my debut album but I believe that the words 'even though you're gone I won't let you fade away' perfectly capture the sentiments that many of his ardent fans across the world feel, including myself.  

Whilst making the video for this song it was inspiring to see how much love he gave and received from people - there is so much perfection in almost everything that he did and it's sad to see genuine people like that leave this world so young.  I know this happens everyday to people across the globe but we only grieve for those we know.  'Fade Away' is a song which I sang for all these people, for their friends and families and for everyone's lives that they touched.  The song is a special collaboration which was produced by Rishi Rich and co-written with Jay Sean.  To see the tribute video, check out the following link...

Hi Guys,

Hope ur all cool!  I just wanna say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you for making ‘Tere Liye (For You)’ NUMBER 1 in the Clubasia charts this week!  After entering the charts just a few weeks ago and spending 2 weeks at number 2, we finally made it to number 1 beating off stiff competition from Miss Pooja, 3Mix & Ramzi (all with brilliant songs!)

We’ve also made it to number 1 on other stations nationally, and recently I was told that Tere Liye topped the charts in Suriname, South America - AWESOME!  It’s amazing how a simple question which I posted on facebook just before Valentine’s Day has led to this and it’s all thanks to you guys.

Since it’s Valentine’s Day release with unique persoanlised dedications via www.navin-online.com, Tere Liye (For You) has become a hugely popular gift and I’m really proud to say that it’s also been chosen as many newly married couples ‘first dance’ song – or as they like to call it…’our song ‘    Just recently, a young woman bought a dedicated copy of the song and used it to propose to her boyfriend…and he said YES!!! Aside from that, I’ve been busy touring and performing for you guys live which I LOVE doing – it’s great to see u all at the shows…somehow I kinda feel that you’re all familiar strangers – maybe that has something to do with Facebook!  LOL!  After performing in Holland and Dubai last month, I celebrated Vaisakhi with a live performance for you guys at Trafalgar Square in London, then went to New York last week to perform at the South Asian Excellence Awards – had an awesome time out there and hope to be back soon.  This week I’m heading off back to Holland where I’ll be performing live with a Full Band – I’m looking forward to seeing all you guys again out there…Mehbooba Mehbooba!

Thank you for all your comments, wall posts and messages of support – I love reading them and as you know, I try to get back to everyone individually.  If I haven’t replied to you yet, I’ll hopefully get round to you soon – as you can imagine I only get to spend a limited amount of time on Facebook – Wednesday nights around 10pm just after The Apprentice is usually a good time though!  

I’d also like to say a special thanks to Clubasia for their support around my music – in a market which is currently dominated by Bollywood and Bhangra music (which I love freaking out on the dancefloor too!), Clubasia have managed to include different genres in their playlists – it was great fun taking over the Love Zone on Clubasia and I’ll be back soon on there to do some more takeovers and a new live session!  Please keep requesting Tere Liye on Clubasia and your local stations – now that we’ve made it to number 1, lets try and stay there!

Hey Guys,

Hope you’re all cool!  It’s been a while since I jumped on here to say hey so I’m taking some time out now to update u!  It’s been a mad few months and things have been moving really fast lately thanks to all your support!

I’ve just got back from performing at one of most prestigious venues in the world – the 7* Burj-al-Arab in Dubai.  It was an amazing experience performing right on the top floor and the show went really well – I’ll soon be posting some video footage taken on my travels and glimpses from the show so make sure you subscribe to my youtube channel at www.youtube.com/navinonline.  Performing at that venue was really surreal cos I filmed a video piece for Zee TV where I introduced myself as an 18 year old singer for my first break on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa World Series right outside the Burj-al-Arab.  I remember saying to my dad after the shoot…’one day dad…I’m guna be performing in there’…and finally that day came!  Okay – this is beginning to sound like a fairytale now! Lol!  

Before going out to Dubai, I stopped in Holland to perform there for the first time at the Hindi Paas Party in Silverdome.  That was an awesome night!  The crowd there had so much energy and that was definitely one of my most memorable performances!  It was great to see everyone singing along to the songs, especially Tere Liye, and I have since been asked to go back to perform there again soon – details coming shortly!  Again you can see glimpses of the journey here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS1IdwhZkks

Yesterday, on my way to doing an acoustic live session for Radio XL, I was told that I’ll be going to New York for my first performance out there on 9^th May!  I am soooo excited about this – it’s guna be crazy…I’ve always wanted to perform in the Big Apple and catch up with all of you guys out in America – more details on this one coming soon too!

Back home in the UK, you can catch me live at Trafalgar Square this Sunday (3^rd May) where I’ll be performing along with many other artists to celebrate Vaisakhi.  It’s an open air event so make sure you come down – should be fun!  I’ll also be performing in Birmingham on 15^th May – there’s a huge line-up of artists performing to pay tribute to Kaka Bhaniawala Ji, the legendary bhangra singer who unfortunately passed away recently, so make sure you come down.  There’s lots more live performances lined up and the Mela season is just round the corner – I’ll be publishing all my confirmed live dates shortly on facebook and myspace – it’s guna be a hot one this summer and I’m looking forward to seeing all you guys bounce to the tunes!

Hope you’re all cool!  Wow…what a week!  Absolute madness!  So I thought I’d jump on here and scribble a bit about it for u guys…

So the long awaited UK AMAs finally took place on Thursday and what a night – it was great to see UK Asian Music being recognised in such a cool way with nearly everyone in the industry attending and it felt so awesome to be a part of it!  As I’m sure you guys know by now, although I was nominated for the Best Newcomer award I didn’t win it this year – the award went to Jaz Dhami.  I remember that moment so vividly when Nihal was up on stage to announce the winner and it was just such an adrenaline rush – I’m sure everyone nominated for an award that night must’ve felt their hearts pounding in the same way during the announcement of the winners.    It was my first time up for being nominated for an award and the experience was great!

I was also selected as one of the guest presenters to announce and give out the award for Best International Album along with Kiss 100 presenter Neev and the Director of the Indian Tourism Board!  I was so proud to announce Gurdaas Maan Ji’s name on stage as the winner and the crowd went wild!!! 

There was a huge array of live performances this year ranging from Rishi Rich Productions to Shayal and Jagged Edge, and the big winner of the night was Jay Sean who took away 3 awards!  It was also great to see Rishi Rich pick up the Commitment to the Scene Award and A.R Rahman win the Lifetime Acheivement Award.  Whilst I would’ve loved to win the Best Newcomer Award, I left the Awards night feeling proud to be a part of such a huge celebration of UK Asian Music, and felt more inspired than ever.  You can see some photos from the night on my facebook profile!

And on the same night I was also taking Mr Kay’s show on Clubasia for an hour – had soooooo much random fun!    As a result of presenting – I’ve received several radio presenting opportunities (wuhu!) and Mr Kay has offered me a day to take over his show for the full 3 hours live including a live acoustic performance!  If you missed the takeover, I’ll try and get a copy from Mr Kay and upload some snippets up here!

Thank you so much to everyone who logged on and voted for me at the AMAs – guys I really do appreciate it.  Coming back to all of your messages afterwards really helped fire me up even more – it’s so great to have your loyal support and it’s great to have you all on this journey with me!

Hope you’re all cool!  Right, no kidding about this…on Friday I sat down at my computer and received a handful of messages from you guys to let me know that I was the 43^rd most viewed musician on YouTube that day!  I was like…what????    That’s crazy!  I wasn’t expecting that and as you can imagine…I’m over the moon about it!  I guess the newly uploaded videos from my first ever televised live acoustic session on BritAsia TV had something to do with it and also the fact that a lot of you guys are supporting and helping to spread the word about my music by featuring the videos on your own sites and amongst your social networks…thank you guys!!!  If you haven’t already, make sure you head over to my youtube channel www.youtube.com/navinonline and check the new videos out.  They include unplugged performances of Tukde Tukde, Love Thing and the new song Tere Liye.  It was a great experience performing them and I was totally lost in my own world during the performance (as some of you have kindly pointed out! Lol!) 

Well, voting for the UK Asian Music Awards has finally closed now and I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that voted for me as Best Newcomer.  I really appreciate all your support and am now just looking forward to the Awards night on the 5^th March – fingers crossed guys!
