If not on facebook:

Repost of the beginning of the message:
First let me say that The Baltimore Crown is put together solely for giving appreciation to the people who don't normally receive it. It's not a contest, the people were chosen because voters feel that they need to be recognized.

That said, I need your help.. This is my Baltimore Challenge for the day:!!!!!!!
If you're reading this, Please pick 1, 2, 3, 4 (or more) people on the nominee list and/or bmore hall of fame list and say something about them that they don't normally get to hear. Give them mad love and let them know that you see them..and what they do in and for this city.. and let others know who they are/what they do and why we need to acknowledge them. Some of your quotes will be published along with our congratulations/promo lists after the crown. Thanks for the positive energy in advance :)..
Much Bmore Love
and I'll see you at The Baltimore Crown 2009, Sunday, November 8 @ The 5 Seasons 7pm.
Hosted by Larry Lancaster
A-Class vs. Troy Brown Battle
featuring poetry, mc, comedy battles. and more. gonna be exciting.

Please read this before you vote
very important
You have to care about the underground scene to vote so please take the time to read this.

Note: Most of the info: about the crown is in the original note this is added info: to answer any question
FAQ: QUESTIONS: ANSWERED:

From email, messages etc..for clarity (I'll add/update as questions come in) Check myspace.com/baltimorescene
.. for rules

QUESTION 1. Who votes/Who's deciding;
I stress again and again, We're holding this award show to the same standards as The Masters, Word War, Track Meet etc., meaning: It is hard to win, the winners have deserved to win, and they are being judged (not just by random "crowd response" but people who sincerely care about the craft/the artistic scene and are taking the time to judge). At our events, judges are so gracious to take the time to come out and give scores all night so that the best person can win. At The Masters and at Track Meet judges have to explain their answers and are held accountable by MCs and crowd. These awards are following that format

There have been a panel of people personally invited from Hip Hop, Poetry, Live Music Scene, and media to vote (be judges) in these awards. Many of these people are listed in promotional affiliate list on myspace.com/baltimorescene
Also, there is an OPEN INVITATION for anyone who is a participant of the scene and CARES about the scene to vote. (Media, visual/graphic artists, musicians, designers, journalists, authors, poets, playwrights, mcs, producers, battle judges, models, engineers, producers/promoters of underground events, managers, entertainment companies, etc etc etc. are ALL encouraged to send in votes to thebaltimorescene@gmail.co..m along with name, email address, contact info, myspace/facebook and/or twitter address and one line description of what they do in the scene)

You don't have to vote for all categories, but it would be nice if you voted for as many categories as you can. Agreeing to vote is like agreeing to judge a baltimore scene event. It wlll take definitely less time to vote than it will take to judge a battle (hours and hours). Asking for a one-two line explanation for each category. 30-45 minutes tops to fill out the form. I voted already and it took me 21 minutes to pick a person for each category and give the reasons.

QUESTION 2
Why do I have to write a description?

You don't. The beauty of this event is that the awards are chosen by people who live for the scene and care about the scene. The people who are emailing the votes, took time out of their day because they believe in our scene. They believe that the person they're voting for deserves to be recognized. If you care about the scene and want to celebrate it..vote. If you feel like someone that you know needs to be appreciated for what they do..vote. If not..don't vote. For all of you that have voted and all you who will vote, we thank you for your time and support.

QUESTION 3
Why was the description requirement put in place..
So winners can know their was though involved. It's not a popularity contest.

What WILL NOT happen is:
A) Someone has alot of cousins, coworkers, multiple email addresses/computers and wins. Someone will win because people in the scene WANTED TO TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE SURE SOMEONE GOT THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVED.

QUESTION 4
I think I deserve to win, I believe I should be recognized... what should I do?

Remember that this is about celebrating the scene.PLEASE don't even ask this question unless you have taken the time to vote and make sure OTHER people who deserve to win are winning. That's really what this show is about. AND if you feel you deserve to win, spread the word about the awards and the process of voting. Direct people to the myspace.com/baltimorescene.. blog where voters can read the instructions or you can direct them to facebook.com/thebaltimores..cene and you can tell anyone to call/text 443 248 2596 if they have any questions.

QUESTION 5
Are there separate awards for females and males. For example best female Hip Hop Artist AND a best male Hip Hop Artist (or vocalist, dj etc.)

Answer:
No. To win you have to be the best ...period. like in the battles

QUESTION 6
Can you vote for presenters and/or people who won last year?

Answer:
Sure (Except for Legacy Awards/Bmore Hall of Fame Awards)

QUESTION 7: Are the Live Venue Categories Separate

Answer:
Yes. There's seperate award for live venue, hip hop venue, and poetry venue

QUESTION 7:
Can you pick more than one person for any of the votes?

Yes for Special Contribution/Special Appreciation Awards and Legacy Awards (Hall of Fame Awards).

QUESTION 8:
Do I have to vote for all the categories?
NO! Don't feel obligated to pick someone for all categories, if noone is naturally coming to mind, However don't skip categories just to vote for yourself, vote for one person. Remember Again, this is about celebrating the scene. For example, If you have no idea about who's in the poetry scene, or you can't name a mixtape. leave it blank and let people who know about that category vote.

QUESTION 9:
I am a prominent person in the scene and would love to present an award and/or be an integral part of panel (meetings etc) What do I do?
send email to thebaltimorescene@gmail.co..m and/or text 443 248 2596

QUESTION 10:
I have a question that's not on here..What do I do?
text 443 248 2596 or email thebaltimorescene@gmail.co..m and the answer will be added here and on site

QUESTION 10:
Ok I'm ready to vote, what do I do next?
Copy and paste form in blog on this page called VOTE FORM and send to thebaltimorescene@gmail.com.

All battle/competitions are FREE to enter and offer cash prizes. -call/text 443 248 2596) info

All winners are chosen by The Baltimore Scene Voting Panel comprised of Media/Radio Personalities/ battle judges, winners, and finalists, sponsors, producers of Baltimore Scene Events and RECORDING underground artists and professional people of artistic community (photographers, journalists, DJs, etc. (some of these people listed on myspace.com/baltimorescene..) AND panel takes suggestions from Bmore advisory council (comprised of artists, people heavy on the scene who can submit people they think should be considered for each category). It's done this way to avoid anonymous/random double votes, campaigning to friends for votes etc. Each voter is registered and held accountable of his/her vote. Winners will know that they are being chosen by people who are passionate about the artistic scene of bmore. Each winner will get a copy of the reasons that they were chosen in their category. ALL people with multiple votes will be placed on A-LIST of BMORE promotions this coming year and we will release the top 5 chosen in each category.

If interested in being included in the voting process please cut and paste the categories above
along with WHY you think the person you suggested should be chosen along with your name, contact info: phone/myspace/facebook/twi..tter and 1-2 line description of what you do in the scene. Do the same if you would like to be a part of the advisory council. Deadline for votes: Midnight: October 28.
Send to thebaltimorescene@gmail.com

NOTE:
All votes MUST include a reason WHY the person should be chosen. vote without a reason will be disqualified. (no eenie meenie minie moes in the process. No random names put in based on popularity)

For Example: Hip Hop Artist of the Year Award:MC xyx because they released such and such a project that was they dope/versatile/showcases their lyricism and/or they know how to rock a crowd. They're versatile. Special Contribution Award: blah blah.. because they created an outlet for artists to be heard, they started a movement etc. etc.
We're sticking to our battle/competition standards. (The Masters, Track Meet, Word Wars.. with the rough public judging and/or battle hurdles) are probably the hardest competitions to win. The Crown Awards will also be the hardest to earn.

As always, Thanks everyone for the continued support for supporting all The Baltimore Scene Networking and Promotion Team Events
-Word War 1, Word War 2, The Master 08 and 09, Hip Hop Is..., Energy, Track Meet, Baltimore Crown 07 and 08.

Congratulations to last year's winner A-Class

recap of last year's?...
The Masters 08
"Being a man of few words all I'm going to say is The Master's definitely set the bar for competitions as a hole"Hip Hop is NOT DEAD!!!!!
-J5 bmorehh. com

"WoW, did I have a great time last night. That's was one of the best battles I have ever seen in person"
-Jahiti of Brown F.I.S.H.

"I'm proud to have been involved with this great event. The Bar is set. There's no turning back now.
-Shaka Pitts, Ceo of the Spitters Club

"I'm honored my buddies and I were included in the evening's events. Thanks again for connecting the underground and keeping Hip Hop Alive"
-Maskara of the Baltimore Breakers

"Yo. I will be at all your battles because that s*&^ was put together well. One of the better shows I've been to period"
Bar Cardy-Cartel

The Masters should be the new standard for MC battles. We as the artistic community are well within our rights to DEMAND more from the artists that represent us. These type of eliminations are good opportunities to showcase the versatility of the artists that either we have never heard from, or are already familiar with. Different sides to the old and a fresh breath from the new.
Glad to have been a part of it.
-kane

"We came through The Masters battle last night at 5 seasons and we're really feeling what y'all are doing w/ the underground scene. It's definitely needed and we definitely want to continue to support and actually become apart of the movement and add on. Lets see how we can come together on some things...Peace"
-Poverty's Thread

It was an awesome show!!! Check out my pics of the show and the after show Cyphor in the parking lot...Can't wait till the Crown...
-Singleton

"That was one of the best hip hop events I've been to and I've judged a lot of battles"
Labtekwon

The Baltimore Scene launched the creation of it's community outreach program ENERGY on Saturday, March 7th. Energy will be an organization and event that will allow all of us promoters, artists, entertainers etc. to give back to the community. All ENERGY events will be free and we will be asking for donations for whichever cause that we're focusing on.
Last Saturday, we raised goods and funds for the homeless. 100% of funds and items went to Hannah More Shelter. We ended up collecting half a room full of donations and crowd donations. Any artists, promoters, designers, videographers, photographers, DJs etc. interested in being a part of this ENERGY movement, please contact bmorescene@msn.com and put "ENERGY" in the title or message us here.
Special thanks to Diamond K who volunteered his time to DJ for the event and David of Klassic Sound who volunteered to run the sound, Urban Artz Spotlight for taping, and Solomon of the 5 Seasons who helped all of this happen and of course all the artists and supporters..but shout outs to Tay, Lisa, OOH of Brown F.I.S.H., Ogun, Jaye Hunnie, J5 of bmorehh.com, Shaka Pitts of the Spitters Club, Kelly Connelly, Ms. Tris Beats, Jade Fox, Dreko, Si Notes, Kane, Mathew, Taz, Helina, Hanalyn, Dionne, Shani, Civil Jones, DJ Tempest, Nilajah, Kartel, Tya Anthony, Simba, Cream, Shy, Lynee Michelle) and EVERYONE who came through...too many to name..and of course ALL the artists on flier..

< /><

Pictures from Tya Anthony, Kelly Connelly, and Lisa-Baltimore's Paparazzi will be up soon.
If you know of a cause that you would like us all to support or any suggestions, advice, etc..hit us up with a message. Peace and Thanks Again
