Hi everybody,

After having released our new album "The Synthetic LIght Of Hope" worldwide through Dark Balance Records in october 2009, we will be on tour across Europe in April/March 2010!!!

We are searching for gigs through Holland, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic and Switzerland, please feel free to contact us if you can help us in some way...

Conditions are: 100€/gig + food & sleeping place (we bring matresses & sleeping bags) but we will study every proposition!!!

"The Synthetic Light Of Hope" has reached the top score in OsnaMetal in Germany!!!

OSNAMETAL (DE) - 5/5
Mit viel Geballer kommen sie daher und präsentieren ihr neues Album "The Synthetic Light Of Hope". Die Rede ist eindeutig von Hypnosis, die in ihrem soliden Death Metal auch vor neueren Ansätzen nicht zurückschrecken.
Aber bevor man beginnt, sich über den Inhalt Gedanken zu machen: Hier ist kein Platz für Vorurteile. Dass die Jungs nämlich aus dem schönen Frankreich kommen, tut der guten Arbeit keinen Abbruch. Im Gegenteil beweisen unsere Nachbarn hier, dass man auch mit Muttersprache Französisch in Sachen Aggressivität dem Rest der Welt um nichts nachsteht.
Greg Balia-Taris (voc), Cindy Goloubkoff (git, voc), Pierre Bouthemy (git, synth) und Raphael Ferreira (bass) verstehen es tatsächlich hervorragend brachiales Gehämmer der Drums, Gesang der übelsten Härte und heftige und doch technisch überlegene Gitarrenriffs mit synthetischen Geräuschen durchzusetzen, ohne, dass der Gesamteindruck zu sehr ins Elektrische fließt. Im Gegenteil wird demonstriert, wie solche Elemente unter Umständen sogar noch zu einem brutalen, vielleicht unheimlichen Bild beitragen können.
Eben das macht das Album besonders einzigartig, gestaltet die Geschichte ein wenig individueller und schafft somit gleichzeitig eine Abgrenzung zu anderen Bands aus der gleichen Ecke. Insgesamt wäre also praktisch alles, außer die volle Punktzahl eine Anmaßung. Darum, auch in Hinblick auf die Gefahr, dass viele mir wieder sagen, dass sie das ganz anders sehen, ohne groß zu diskutieren:

FRIEDHOF MAGAZINE (ES) - 8.75/10
En los primeros años 90 se crearon unas cuantas bandas con el mismo nombre de Hypnosis. Bandas que no siguieron adelante salvo 2. Una de ellas es una Inglesa de Heavy Metal, y la otra y más conocida, la de estos franceses. “The Synthetic Light Of Hope”, es el título de su último trabajo de estudio, que vio la luz el pasado año bajo el sello Francés Great Dane Records. Ahora reeditado a nivel Europeo por Dark Balance.
Por lo poco que he podido escuchar su trabajo anterior, “Seeds Of Fate”, que ya fue reseñado aquí en Friedhof, puedo decir que la base creativa de esta gente no ha cambiado ni un ápice. Se mantienen esas dualidades de voces, entre la masculina y femenina así como los dos registros bien diferenciados de Pierre con sus gritos graves y más chillones. También se mantiene la formación, aunque pasado este trabajo incorporaron a Greg, el vocalista del grupo Karnal (Fra).
El Cyber Death con el que el grupo nos obsequia es muy fresco, muy creativo. La mezcla entre los ritmos machacones y todos esos samplers que se entrelazan de vez en cuando (sin abusar), dotan al sonido de mucha originalidad, que ya es difícil encontrarla hoy en día. Así, todo lo que escuchamos nos recuerda a unas cuantas bandas, y a la vez, no se parecen a ninguna. No entraré en explicar los estilos que mezclan porque está perfectamente explicado por mi compañero A_Lie_Called_Life, así que os remito a esa reseña para entender un poco las influencias de estos franceses.
Siempre he pensado que no a todos los grupos les queda bien lo de mezclar Metal industrial con muchos samplers con algo más bruto, pero existen varias excepciones de bandas donde la calidad es tal, que suenan de maravilla. En Francia tenemos el ejemplo de otra muy conocida, además de Hypnosis, y se llaman Scarve. Y es que del país vecino, a lo largo de esta década han salido una serie de bandas de una calidad incuestionable. Y sobre todo, todas ellas originales.
Este disco dura casi 20 minutos menos que el anterior, por lo que en general se hace corto. 40 minutos repartidos en 9 pistas, que van de más a mejor. Es difícil destacar unos temas sobre otros porque todos están muy bien, pero yo me quedaría con estos 3: “The Day We Failed”, “My Deepest Solitude” y “Kill Me When I Dream”. En cuanto a la producción, decir que es brillante.
Hypnosis experimentan desde una base brutal, que a todo seguidor de Metal extremo le debería de gustar, con una serie de sonidos que tampoco nos son muy ajenos, la cuestión sería acostumbrarse a ellos. Y ojo... ¡Porque enganchan

ROCKINGBOY (DE) - 8.5/10
Im Moment scheint es als würde technischer und progressiver Death Metal einen kleinen Boom erleben. Speziell DM Bands die nicht aus den USA und Schweden kommen erweitern den typischen Sound um neue Ideen und weitere Einflüsse. Die Franzosen von Hypnosis fallen auch in diese Katagorie. Mit kleinen Elektrospielereien, dezenten weiblichen Vocals und Fear Factory mäßigen Double Bass Salven heben sich die Jungs und das Mädel vom typischen Gebolze ab. Das alleine macht aber noch kein gutes Album. Aber auch er Rest ist mehr als überzeugend. Das beweist unter anderem der überragende Titeltrack mit den kleinen Synthie Einsprengseln, dem ruhigen Mittelpart und diesen fiesen Double Bass Attacken. Oder zieht euch mal ne Nummer wie "An Ordinary Day" rein. Dieser Song klingt wie eine Mischung aus Pain und Strapping Young Lad. Speziell die an Devin Townsend erinnernden Soundspielereien tauchen auf dem Album immer wieder auf und lockern das wuchtige Drum- und Riffgewitter ein bisschen. Weitere Anspieltipps neben dem Titeltrack sind das mitreissende "Blood Tears" und der progressive Rausschmeisser "(Kill Me) When I Dream). Für die Freunde der reinen Death Metal Lehre ist dieses Album wahrschinlich nichts aber alle DM Lunatics die sich trauen mal über den Tellerrand zu schauen sollten das Album aber mal anchecken.

DIGITAL STEEL (NL) - 75/100
This French Hypnosis is definitely not a new comer. They began in 1993 and released their first album in 1999 since then they released an album every two or three years making this their fifth album so far.
The band declares that they play industrial death metal which is not entirely true. The music they produce mainly consist out of death metal which sounds synthetic, clean but also pretty brutal. The death metal is being flavored with keyboards, synths, mechanical rhythms and even some solid female vocals. You could think of a combination of The project hate, The Polish, Prophecy and a …. And oceans only with grunts.
Although this album contains some good tracks as Blood tears, the trance influenced Wasted land and the up tempo An ordinary day I found myself wandering off some of the time which is not a good sign.
Still, Hypnosis is trying to be progressive and headstrong (in a good way) and I can only applaud for that. They are trying to do their own thing without being to complex. A rare thing these days.
The band made a nice album which is surprising enough for a couple of listening sessions but also not exciting enough for more than that. Next time I expect they come out with one hell of an album.

ZWAREMETALEN (NL) - 75/100
Hij is inderdaad al eens uitgebracht, maar niemand heeft die ooit in zijn handen gekregen. Dit Franse Hypnosis verklaart industriële death metal te spelen. Wens of waarheid?
Helemaal industrieel is het niet. Veel death metal, synthetisch en clean doch bruut, dat dan weer wel. Elektronische effecten worden afgewisseld met synthklanken en hier en daar een begeleidende beat. Bijkomende elementen als thrashy vrouwenlijke vocalen en Mercenary-achtige zanglijnen dragen toe aan het eclectische karakter. Qua tempo worden alle versnellingen gehaald, van midtempo death metal stamppotjes tot blazende black metal drilboren. In mijn oren klinkt het als een mix tussen een subtop The Project Hate en een vrij diepgaand ... And Oceans, met 85% diepe gruntzang.
Normaalgezien was de review nu afgelopen. Dankzij de interessante bandnaam en een ander aspect gaan we nog even door. Hypnosis heeft namelijk het talent om progressief te zijn. En deze keer is het geen wanhoopspoging van een band die er alles aan doet om toch maar niet de ouwe getrouwe procedés uit de kast te halen. Hypnosis doet het op zijn eigenzinnig manier zonder overcomplex te zijn. Je kunt ook zeggen dat ze niet genoeg talent hebben om echt verbijsterend uit de hoek te komen. Kan zijn. Komt er gewoon op neer dat het verrassend genoeg is voor verschillende luisterbeurten en niet te enerverend zodat je enkel de eerste drie à vier nummers echt leert kennen. Behoorlijke schijf dit.

Hi everybody,

We are very happy and excited to welcome Johan (bass) & Greg (vocals) in our ranks!!!

Here are some explanations:

Patrice, due to professional reasons, was not available and motivated in the band anymore... Johan (Silicium, ex-Kolobos) replaced him so well during the Synthetic Reflections Tour, that we have decided to keep him as our permanent bass player!!!

Due to vocal injuries that happenned to me one week before leaving, I asked Greg (ex-Karnal) to take in charge the vocal duties during this tour... We were so satisfied by his performance that we asked him to stay as our new lead singer!!!

Anyway, I really hope to recover my vocals abilities soon, and why not take in charge some backing vocals... :)
