This evening One More Grain toasted the release of 'Isle Of Grain' with a jaegerbomb and rare roast beef at the Olde Peculiar night at the Mucky Pup in Islington. Now, the Times newspaper knows a thing or two when it comes to One More Grain and quality alehouses. So it is that as well as their awarding our new album a notable 5/5, they've also deemed the Mucky Pup's jukebox to be one of the best five in Britain, as you can see here.

And said automated CD/pound coin interface has surely just got that little bit better with the addition of 'Isle of Grain' this very evening, replacing Jack White's hoary retro rockers The Raconteurs, no less. So, if you'd care to try before you buy, head down to the Mucky Pup and give over silver in exchange for jukebox airtime. A handy pictoral guide can be found below. And for all you night owls out there, remember One More Grain will tomorrow night be playing at Durrrat The End, West Central Street, onstage midnight.

A word to let you all know that this weekend marks the moment when One More Grain take stone to their scythe, and head forth to reap the produce of what has truly been a year of joys.

For on Monday officially-critically-acclaimed album 'Isle of Grain' will be appearing on the record shop shelves, and sallying forth from Amazon warehouses across the land. Wire, Uncut, Mojo, Playlouder, Time Out, DrownedInSound, The Independent, Sunday Times and, we hear, The Telegraph have all been fulsome in their praise - even NME managed to rewrite everyone else's reviews in an indifferent toned-down soundbyte. Well worth investing a few pennies of your hard-earned on, I think.

To celebrate, OMG will be playing a sold-out show with The Mae Shi, Emmy the Great, Hot Club De Paris and more at the request of Xfm this Saturday, that takes place at the Barfly. On Sunday they'll be playing records at the excellent Olde Peculiar thirst-quench at the Mucky Pup in Islington, and on Monday night heading to Durrr to take it to the youth. Next Saturday, meanwhile One More Grain will play at the Notting Hill Arts Club for a RoTa afternoon with those good people at DrownedInSound.

Join us in celebrating over this coming week, and potter around the rest of our mySpace for details of very special shows just announced - how do you like them apples, so says us...

One More Grain solo release on limited 10" vinyl out tomorrow, West To The Irish Sea by Daniel Patrick Quinn. Basically a 6-track compilation of some tracks from just before the Grain began, and already described by The Wire as "a nice slab of drunken folk"......

Here's the label website where you can get a copy.....www.weeblackskelf.co.uk

Isle Of Grain will be here shortly...

Huge Heckler
Last Tuesday night saw The Grain playing the comfortable and pleasant surroundings of Brick Lane's Vibe Bar. Merek didn't finish work until 6pm and had to hotfoot it across London, bass guitar strapped to his back, in rush hour crowds. He made it to the venue just in time to soundcheck and a well meaty bass sound was the reward for his breathless sprint.

Drinks were kindly laid on by the exceedingly nice people responsible for the 'Head and Arm' night, and support came from Georgie Pie- a very personable Japanese gentleman with more than a passing fascination for Jimi Hendrix. We marvelled at his tight guitar licks and sank deeper into a drunken haze of our own making.

Creeping onto the stage at the ungodly hour of 11pm, we were immediately greeted by a persistent heckler, who before we'd played a note, kindly issued forth his succinct review: "You're shit!"

But did we wilt in the face of such animosity? Not a bit of it - The Grain rose to the occasion manfully and played probably the best gig of our current line-up. Other members of the crowd were, needless to say, a tad more enthusiastic.

The evening wound down gently with the help of some krautrocking classics supplied by the DJ and The Grain disappeared in the East London night. Dan's still not sure where he went afterwards but he does remember talking to a girl from Radio 4 apparently.

Loads More Grain
The next confirmed gig for The Grain is on Monday February 19 at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes. We'll be playing second fiddle to a marvellous duo of Hungarians known as Agaskodo Teliverek. These gentlemen sport interesting attire and sound like two Frank Zappas fighting with a laptop. So if you're in the mood, dust off your bowling shoes and come on down.

We also confirmed two more future performances this week. We're taking part in a Victory Garden-curated afternoon at RoTa in Notting Hill on April 21, and we'll be hitting the windswept coastal resort of Brighton on Sunday April 29. Check our gig listings for more details.

Radio Grain
We have also recently secured a radio session on Resonance FM on Wednesday April 4. The Grain will play live on't radio at 5pm, have a quick chin wag with the Glass Shrimp DJs, and then leg it over to where hipsters go to die, i.e. the Old Blue Last, to play alongside Duke Garwood and Sleeping States at Playlouder's regular club night. Phew.

'Pigeon' To Fly - April 2
One More Grain's debut album, 'Pigeon English' will finally be released from its coop on April 2 by Victory Garden Records. Hopefully, its homing instincts will be strong enough to allow it to find a good home amongst your record collection. Advance copies are already winging their way to many notable gatekeepers of the British media.

Wicked-pedia
Obviously, the internet can often be a force for great good, but The Grain found out this week that its democratic nature also has its downsides.

The Grain's newly created Wikipedia entry was tampered with and sullied considerably by a demented "man" who currently resides in Cambridge. Amongst other things, said miscreant, who shall remain nameless, tried to start some vicious rumours that question the mental health of the band. He may well have a point, but we'd rather not see it splashed all over t'internet, thank you very much. And besides, we know where you live and we'll be heading your way on our next day release.

Kind regards,

Old Man's Groin.

greetings. we're in the new issue of THE STOOL PIGEON which is a great free music paper that seems to be in every decent venue, record shop and rehearsal room in the country. also, a new magazine called PLUS ONE LUNG by dave ma www.myspace.com/plusonelung is coming out soon with another article plus an early instrumental recording of the new track 'figure of eight' on the cover cd, well worth getting your hands on a copy its only a pound i think!
one of the few persons present at the recent greenwich gig was none other than the head man from WHISPERIN AND HOLLERIN , who've given us a glowing and highly entertaining review and 9/10, at the following page......

our only gig so far booked for the rest of the year is on thursday 30th nov at the hope and anchor, islington. we're the first of four bands, so on at 8.30pm. i'm sure the other bands will all be utterly original with mindblowing use of bar chords!!!! yeah. so if anyone has any suggestions for dates before dec 14th or after jan 11th then get in touch, particularly spitz, bardens, luminaire, montague arms, dingwalls etc......
