1) CD RELEASE PARTY IN SEATTLE:

November 21st, 2009! It's not only gonna be the last show of the 2009
Revival Tour with its three core members (Anis Mojgani, Derrick Brown
and I), but it's also the official CD Release Party for my new CD, LIVE
AT THE TYPER CANNON GRAND! at The Fremont Abbey, Seattle, WA, 9:30pm
(tickets on sale through the tour page of buddywakefield.com).

The room will be packed with good folks, family and friends y'all.
Ya don't wanna miss this one. Tickets will sell out. It's the first
show our Revival's ever done in Seattle. We'll be jacked up on joy for
this big bang finale on our 10-week adventure. I'll be the one
celebrating the support of Righteous Babe Records releasing this brand
new CD of mine (available through the merch page on buddywakefield.com).

Also, I'm not sure if I've mentioned it, but Righteous Babe Records
just released my first LIVE CD.

2) NORCAL!

December 2, 2009 (ON HOLD) "Another Type of Groove" Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA, 7pm

(open for booking Decmber 3, 4, and 5)

December 6, 2009 DO NOT BOOK. Will finally see Willie Nelson in concert this night. If
Leonard Cohen calls... tell'im my widest smile is wandering a venue in San Jose, CA and
it will have to call him back.

Cruz, CA, 8pm

December 8, 2009 Terra Nova High School, Pacifica, CA, noon; closed to public

December 12, 2009 The Ill List Slam, State Theatre, Modesto, CA, 8pm

3) AWKWARD WHILE AIRBORNE: The Andrea Gibson - Buddy Wakefield Tour!

Andrea Gibson and I are teaming up for the entire month of April 2010
to tour our lungs off. We're gonna keep focus on driving a succinct
route in the West U.S. but are absolutely book-ending our April
schedule to leave room for flying elsewhere. So, by all means...

For booking contact Christen Greene
fauxpasproductions@gmail.com

www.buddywakefield.com
www.andreagibson.org

4) AUSTRALIAN TOUR!

Consider this an extension of the AWKWARD WHILE AIRBORNE Tour and just
add the incredible Katie Wirsing (National Slam Champ from Denver) to the
mix! Katie and I may get a head start and do some of the Australia
poetry festivals in August to prime for the full-on Australia tour with Andrea, which
will last the first three weeks of December 2010.

For booking contact Katie Wirsing
katieontherun@gmail.com

5) THE ELEPHANT ENGINE HIGH DIVE REVIVAL and blog.

We've been at it for about 6 weeks now y'all, and time is flyin' for
all the right reason: FUN. I can hardly say it enough, that I know
I've done somethin' real right with my life when I have a look
at the friends I've surrounded myself with. Be sure to check out the
tour schedule on buddywakefield.com to see if you'll be able to join
us on any of the remaining dates. It's been a [really funny and kinda
twisted] high kick of a dream, and we expect it'll only get better.

Our videographer, Christian Saxton, is keeping a video/photo blog of us here:

Thank You for Givin'er,

Hey Friends and Friends of Friends - The following is the announcement
I just sent out to my mailing list. I'd be thrilled to bits if y'all would pass
this on to your mailing lists. I feel like that may be a bit much to
ask seein's how none of y'all have ever asked such a thing of me, but
I'm just so freakin' pumped. Just puttin' it as far out
there as I'm able. Here it is...

From Buddy Wakefield:
By the time most of you get this it will be October 13th, 2009, the
official release date of my new CD, LIVE AT THE TYPER CANNON GRAND,
released on Ani Di'Franco's Righteous Babe Records. Available on
iTunes, buddywakefield.com, Amazon, Write Bloody Publishing, RBR...
everywhere.

I'll be back in the van with Elephant Engine High Dive Revival in the mornin'
headed to University of Maryland, then Goucher, then flying down to
College Station before takin' a break to do some proper promotion.
It's outta my comfort zone to be such a salesman lately, but I sure believe
in this CD and wanna make the folks at Righteous Babe Records proud
for all their believin' in meh.

If you're a close friend or family member y'all know how much this one
means. Been a lifetime in the making to have finally arrived at such a
kickass fantastic point. My CD is posted on righteousbabe.com
sandwiched smack dab between Miss Ani DiFranco Treasurebelly and King
Utah Phillips. I wanna cause a Revival at Righteous Babe with a
turnout of support, if ya will. Mom, Lace, Straussa, Seth, Dogger,
Joe, Jon, Ben, D... y'all know the rules... Sell a case of CD's each
(Christmas is comin'!) or else Bubba has to get the wet willy finger
greazed up, and the fire ants. You don't want the fire ants again do
you? 'Member the blisters? Hmm?

I sure wanna thank everybody who pre-ordered and the incredible show
of support on this tour so far. It's easily shaping up to be the best
and most consistent tour of the last 10 years. Gosh, I'm excited...

Lemme reel it in and wrap it up by saying this:
- Many thanks to those who've showed up to celebrate with us.
- I'm excited to tour more this year and hope we get to cross paths
(including AWKWARD WHILE AIRBORNE: THE ANDREA GIBSON - BUDDY WAKEFIELD
TOUR, April 2010; now booking!).
- Specifically to the close friends and family who know the whole
story and see the blessing and are riding the ride with me: My
Gratitude is aimed at you.

Sincerely,
Floodlight Face
P.S. If you have your own mailing list, I'd be tickled to pieces if
you sent this message out to it. Many thanks.

Righteous Babe Records has given me a release date...

LIVE AT THE TYPER CANNON GRAND will be in stores
(and on buddywakefield.com, and their site, and the Write Bloody site,
and on tour, and Amazon, and iTunes and most everywhere else)
OCTOBER 13, 2009!!
thrashedcover
I've been smilin' ear to ear and heart to head
since the moment I got the news.

I WILL HAVE COPIES FOR SALE ON TOUR starting September 14th.
And if you go to the merch page on buddywakefield.com to order one,
ya might can get it sooner than the show...
thrashedback
I can hardly express how incredible I feel about this CD,
Jon Berardi's production and attention to detail/quality (again)
the crew at Righteous Babe, my gratitude for Ani,
for Matt Wignall (the generous cover artist and photographer),
all the back-up musicians and funny moments that make this CD
so much more than a string of impacting poems,
and how filled I am with excitement, accomplishment, joy...

For those of you keeping track of your visions at home and inside ya
this one's been on my board since the get-go.

I'm lookin' at a list of promotional to-do's a marathon long,
prepping to live in a van on tour with the Revival for the next 3 months,
packing for Vipassana
and moving headlong into the everything
breathing remarkable.

Floor It, Bigfoot
P.S. I've been excited to gather all the quality/effective/funny recordings
that finally work well enough together to deliver the energy engine I
get to be at live shows.

Live at the Typer Cannon Grand is one big breadth of work from the
span of my time onstage over the last decade.

It's also the first Live CD.

We included lots of the banter and live accompaniment that makes doing
live shows so fun, and made sure to pay special attention to building
a CD folks can listen to repeatedly.

I wanted a series of undeniable quality moments - whether they be of
laughter or locomotives or geese bumping - to create a continuum that
causes a revival (on a high dive).

What I really wanna say is this:

At the zoo I saw a Violaceous Turaco. It's a bird. The first note on
the informative plaque next to its cage read, "awkward while
airborne." My middle name happens to be Violaceous Turaco. This CD is
my safe landing.

PPS If you sign up for the mailing list on www.buddywakefield.com I'll reform health care. It's excruciatingly easy to sign my mailing list. Don't hate health care.

McGee, Roger Bonair-Agard, Cristin O'Keefe Apowicz, Robbie Q, Shappy
Seasholtz, Kit Wallach, Mindy Nettifee, Brian Ellis and Sonya Renee.

to the agent if you're a genuinely interested organizer.

2)
I've got a bout 200 copies left of Some They Can't Contain on my website. Once they're gone, I will not be reprinting them. www.buddywakefield.com

When I rode off into the sunset
there was no blackout
or camera behind me.
I did not recede into the distance.
I was still very much present
with what I had left behind.
My horse was thirsty
from how far I ran him.
And your God as my witness
I ran him
until I rode into town here and realized
I am not the end of a movie.

I am done playing sunsets for lonely.
My best days are the days I see clearly
so I had hoped
to come clean here perfectly
for you and the whole saloon
but there is no polish on the table tonight.
Expect rough spots then
when I show you my cards.
These hands we were dealt
may splinter.
The spades could get under your skin.
I was livin' with'm under my skin.
They were diggin' up into my film strip.
I was ridin' with'm stuck in my heart.

It is work to ride head up and holy here.
It is painters with slack in their brush,
painters all jacked up
on stampede dust
just tryin' to get it right.
I've been trying to get it right.
I've been learning here how to grow larger
than the monsters alive in my dreams
swinging a crow bar
out of my whistle
and grand pianos out of my rust.
I shot typewriter keys out of cannons I keep
aimed at the bandits alive in my trust.

There were bandits alive in my trust
come to burn down the verbs
left alone in my blood
barkin' like dogs in a combine.
My horse head sweat
like a war on a land mine
jawbone chomp at the bit
like a bear trap telegraph.
I know I look
like a bleeding dot
by now from where you stand
where there is mad dash
and such wild west
and it is raining down locomotives on a horse
who might not have a name
but who carries a trough in his chest
empty as it may be today
from feeding bandits disguised as the Pony Express
comin' up spades and splinters,
my workhorse spittin' out hammers and ink.

There is a colony of bad fathers
who built this place
still alive in the way I was led to think
like a snake
who can shed its own crucifixion
or a midnight rider
who leaves his beast
under whip of the daylight sky.
It's why I looked like gallop cursive
when you held me under the horizon line
to magnify
every single silver screen I stole

riding high on my filthy electric whale
like a bullet through a junkyard ghost.
Ya know, I don't care to be good, Sheriff.
I care to be whole.

So read what it says in my buckles boy
Take your sunset out of my rise.
I will not send you sailing if you came here to drive
and I know you came here to drive.
That's why it reads won't give up on your saddle
like I wrote don't give up on my life
like I've been
typing my name
on a horse I drove
through the desert as sure as a river he ran
and I swear on my shadow
he wouldn't turn back
no matter how much slack I typed into his neck.
Not everyone wants to go home

to get the sunset painted back into their bones

to have the law with all that slack in its love

pretending to save me

you don't need to save me

I already did that myself

when your god as my witness

never turned up

there was a typewriter

buried alive in that horse

I rode to get out of the flood.

The following blog post was my immediate reaction to the Zeitgeist movie as it interacted with 33 years of my own real experiences as well as what I know to be true about this life. Since my zealous post in support of Zeitgeist, several friends whom I trust to a large degree have made valid challenges to the movie's claims, but have more importantly led me to seemingly balanced articles exploring the movie. There is a lot of information to digest. Now that I've been swept into an element of doubt, I MUST retract comparing Zeitgeist to Vipassana as I have no doubt where Vipassana is concerned. Though - in the spirit of intension, poetry and purpose - I continue to appreciate Zeitgeist's math and relevance.

It's impossible for me to dismiss this movie based on the multi-motivated dissection of everyone around it.

Thank you for all the responses, support, concern and sharing your feelings. While at my first Vipassana retreat, after deeply operating on and observing years of compounded personal issues with a close family member, I came to the realization toward them that, "I don't need so badly for you to understand who I am anymore. I need for you to understand yourself."
I suppose that applies here as well. The expansive/constrictive and limitless angles through which folks find their own validity and fact to mix with their personal purpose (or lack thereof) proves as much to me.

Whether Zeitgeist is completely true or false does not change the state of global unrest at a core level. Before we all spend too much time volleying what-ifs in circles, I suspect it would be best to actually act on EFFECTIVELY bettering at least one aspect of what you know to be hurting us (e.g. Diebold, wars in the name of God, The Corporation).

With Care and Appreciation,
Fanatic for Fairness

***
This is hands down the most important documentary/movie/wake-up call/kick in the pants I've ever seen:

www.zeitgeistmovie.com

The math is impeccable.
The root of the problem
laid out like a body in the middle of a boxing ring.

Zeitgeist is to political and religious awareness
what Vipassana (www.dhamma.org) is to healing.

I would be deeply remiss if I didn't spend at least one full work day making sure everyone I know is presented with the choice to see this movie; as well as stating for the record an open-ended commitment to volunteering my shovel and elbow grease to help dig us out.

The words to explain how important this movie is are not coming easy.
I'm overwhelmed with the want to expose it like Christ.

Those I've spoken with who've seen it express a post-viewing hopelessness.
I feel quite the opposite having finally witnessed all the information in such perfect order.
So many loose ends in my heart, and from my general understanding (or lack thereof),
are finally met up seamlessly.

For Now,
Stop Diebold.
